AoA777:BNSc or RN, a nurse is a nurse. Please. And without RN, ur BNSc is useless. We encourage all RN to get their BNSc doesn't mean they are less of a nurse. meanwhile, better to go for BNSc straight, saves time.. and we don't have auxiliary nurses, we have quacks! d right name is quack! Or better call dem auxiliary doctors, cos doctors are d ones training those quacks 5 Likes |

sassysure:I can bet anything to the fact that you don't live in a developed country! Even Ghana doesn't allow quacks to sell drugs in their country! Nigerian system created what they term "patent medicine dealers" who have bastardized the Nigerian drug market and you're blaming pharmacists for it. Pharmacists are very honest professionals and it is just unfortunate that Nigerian government have refused to grant them the full legal and political backing they need to regulate the drug market. No pharmacy owned and ran by a pharmacist would engage in D&C or operate outside their scope of training. But because the government have refused to regulate our drug market, anybody can just open drug store and start doing all sort of quack medical practices just to make money and FOOLS like you would turn around and blame pharmacists! How I wish we have a listening government! Take for instance, the drug TRAMADOL which was supposedly banned by Nigerian government is still being sold in patent medicine stores today because the guys at Onitsha bridge head still distribute trams to to the patent medicine dealers. I know a guy who was addicted to tramadol and do you know where he goes to get the drug? To the patent medicine stores! Each time he tries to buy the drug from pharmacies, they refuse to sell to him unless there's a prescription from a doctor. What he did was to stop going to pharmacies to ask for the drug but go straight to the "chemist" guys! Now, your type will blame pharmacists for still having the drug in circulation but you will not blame government for refusing to give the pharmacists the legal support to ensure proper regulations. How I wish you know what pharmacists go through in school! How I wish you know how rigorous the training is! Pharmacists go through a lot in school and that is why they come out REFINED! They are truly men of honor! So, stop accusing them of crimes committed by quacks with government approval! Respect those guys! It is not easy to be a pharmacist!! 9 Likes |

Jman06: U are very emotional. Tramadol is still in the market bc pharmacist like u import them into the country. Nobody imports drug into Nigerian without the backing of a licenced pharmacist. Pharmacists don't go through any shit. They don't pass through rigourous training like veterinary Drs yet they don't make noise. They don't pass through what those that studied agric did. Let me not talk about medicine and surgery. Men of honour ke U are very funny. Seems u are still in school. Female pharmacists are hot cake in igboland. Not because they will work but bc their certificates are in huge demand for drug importation. Marry them and everything becomes easier. Then open one big drug store with supermarket for her Check all the big drug stores u know, am I lying? As per where I live, never mind. I might be in my village Emzor owner tried bc late dora marketed her. The importers almost ran her out of market even though what she does is mixing up imported active ingredients and they are of low qualities. I will tell u the deep secrets of pharmacy in Nigeria. Stop arguing with me. U need to see these guys feeling on top of the world Empty brains. Their lecturers mostly advice them to go and learn about the 101 of drugs from the big chemist shops. U guys don't know anything. Some doing industrial attachments or whatever it's called use medical terms to attend to ordinary people thinking that speaking big grammar makes them special. U ask them simple question they will start fumbling. Mtcheew. I'm not responding to u again 2 Likes |

The level of ignorance about nursing profession in this thread is appalling and it's as a result of lack of sufficient information and misrepresentation of the profession especially by the media..... Nursing has gone far beyond the 19th and 20th century. This is the 21st century, things have changed and are still changing..I'm not going to compare any profession to the other but op, just get the right information and choose wisely cos when the chips are down,it will be you and your choice that will be left To all those spilling trash about nursing, get the right information before coming to spill trash. I bet most of those nurses you see are quacks cos no professional nurse will run errand for a doctor, we are autonomous and please y'all should patronize standard hospitals and not all these one-room hospitals around. 4 Likes |

sassysure:You're either a withdrawn pharmacy student or perhaps someone who was denied admission into pharmacy. Why am I even arguing with you? Continue in your ignorance, it'll not change anything! I only pity those who might be misled by your ignorance! Even before going into pharmacy school, I met many pharmacists who are big shots in the industry and these guys are among the few professionals in the country who are very knowledgeable in their fields and are equally doing well financially. FYI, before going to study pharmacy, I was already into "chemist" business and I know very well that those guys know next to nothing about drugs! Most are doing trial and error with people's lives while the government watches them. No pharmacy lecturer tells students to go and learn from the "chemist" stores! Stop lying!!! Emzor paracetamol was already making waves in the market before Dora Akwunyili became NAFDAC DG. Stop lying again. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Jman06:Emzor didn't make wave befor Dora came to the rescue. Emzor president is a friend and classmate of Dora. Dora insisted all govt hospitals use emzor products and was backed by obasanjo. Stop arguing with me. Dora took emzor to west African countries. That was was how that lady was able to sustain. Without Dora , which the lady always acknowledge, she wouldn't have been where she is now. Orange drugs was her major contender then and Dora successfully used her weight to keep her on top and afloat. U should know that if I can go this deep, I might know what u don't know in that industry As for the rest, I'm tired of going in circle. |

Samsung004:Firstly, passion. Which one do you desire. Assuming you'd have equal desire/interest in both, then i would say NURSING (Bsn, not RN) If you were my sibling, i would insist you do NURSING. Nursing is one of the few vocations in healthcare that would incressingly be in high demand, both locally and internationally, because of innovations in healthcare technology and demographic change globally. Internationally, i can't even begin to talk about it; It's rewarding and lifestyle is good even for those in clinical nursing in comparison with other healthcare profession. The career prospects for postgraduate nurses looks bright locally. There are a few nurses pursuing a career in academics in Nigeria at the moment. But if you dont desire to go further, or you don't have a passion to care, the career options are also good; from NGOs to financial sector to business/administration, the possibilities are limitless, and mostly untapped locally. Inspite of this you must determine, by yourself, what would give you FULFILLMENT. At the end that's what counts. PS: I'm not a nurse 1 Like |

Teddiie: Sadly, when people hear 'nursing' they think it's only about working in the hospital. Nursing has long evolved and has become a full fledged professional field deeper than most people know. However nurse education development in Nigeria (as with most stuff) is stagnated or progressing VERY slowly, while arguably, pharmacy has been long DEAD and decayed! 1 Like |

Re: Nurse Or Pharmacist Which Is The Best. by Jman06(m): 9:06pm On Sep 21, 2019 |
sassysure:Bro, you know nothing about the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry! You claim to know but everything you post here point to the fact that you're totally ignorant of the industry. To start with, Emzor MD; Dr(Mrs) Stella Chinyelum Okoli studied at Bradford University and Chelsea university (MSc) both in the UK and not in Nigeria, so she couldn't have been Dora's classmate. Emzor paracetamol got into Nigerian drug market as far back as 1987/1988 while Dora became NAFDAC boss around 1999/2000. Emzor paracetamol gained popularity through massive radio and TV advertorials by the marketing team of the company! 2 Likes |

chuksbogus2001: Couple of point: 1. Admission into nursing education in Nigeria is as competitive as pharmacy (not talking about diploma RN education). 2. Whether you are a nurse or pharmacist, you can always have a 'porting advantage' albeit better for nurses cos of dynamics of supply and demand in a FEW developed countries, which makes obtaining licensure relatively easier. 3. The bolded is inaccurate or knowingly misleading. I'm an 'insider' (not a nurse). 4. Choosing nursing cos you want to travel abroad, is the ultimate recipe to unfulfillment. Should not be encouraged. 1 Like |
