What kind of nonsense question is this ; undecided

Unsurprising tho, pharmacy has been bastardized to the levels of nursing in Nigeria

I respect ur view, but I diagree with it. I normally would relate nurses to a secretary.. their primary duty is to follow the instruction of the boss/ Dr..

Clearly one course issuperior to the other..note I didn't say the person..

The primary duty is patient care... That they seem to defer to physicians is largely organizational. Doctors can't handle patient care all by themselves, especially day to day care.

Doctors have a larger and broader course content, training and exposure... That of nurses is less so, which is sufficient for their professional exposure.

Good day Nl. Please which is the best profession to take.
Nurse practitioner (B.nursing) or Pharmacy?.

Please give a point while one is better than the other?

I won't tell you that either of them is better than the other but will advise you go for Nursing especially BNS. As of today, the chances of getting employed is higher with BNS. Forget about those who went to Nursing School and auxiliary nurses.

Nursing especially BNS is held in high esteem in Nigeria. Don't be deceived, there are lots of Pharmacists out there looking for jobs. In fact, health centres employ more of Pharmacy Technicians and only a few Pharmacists to coordinate their activities.

Go for Nursing.

Both are very good depending on what ur looking at. For nursing, its first easy to get a job, easy to become a pensioner cos yrs in school are added to your yrs at work.easy to bail outta naija n still be gainfully employed as a nurse n d dough will be flowing.and flexibility as per work is in shifs.

Pharmacy, maybe more prestigious, and you can employ yasef as a pharmacist by setting up ya own outfit.above all these considerations,do somfin you are passionate about.goodluck.

It's disheartening when some one will ask for an advice and you know that u are not knowledgeable to answer but you still answer getting the individual confused.

Based on the OP question : looking at your background and your connection in Nigeria ,it will play a part in making a choice between these two professions .
PHARMACY and NURSING.are both a very difficult course to go through ,they both do internship at the end except if you go through the sch of nursing route which is not still bad.
If you have connection and long leg in Naija I will say go for pharmacy
If you know your parents no get long leg I will say go for Nursing.
YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF GETTING EMPLOYEMENT IF YOU ARE A NURSE COMPARED TO BEING A PHARMACY HERE IN NIGERIA except if you have a long leg.

International opportunity .
NURSING PROFESSIONAL CURRICULUM IS SAME ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD AND WITH INFORMATION YOU CAN PRACTICE IN UK ,US , Australia ,CANNADA ,WITH YOUR CERTIFICATE FROM NIGERIA ONLY TO WRITE THEIR BOARD EXAM. DOR US U WRITE NCLEX which I did and I am in the US right now and I make x 2 what the highest paid Dr make in a month in 2 weeks.
Other profession have a tedious path of being able to practice abroad and NURSING SHORTAGE IS AFFECTING ALL THE CIVILIZED WORLD AND THEY ARE RECRUITING NURSES LIKE MAD.

I AM ONLY BEING HONEST WITH YOU. so after everything the decision is yours.

expect foolish nurses who have no confidence in what they do, and probably those working in private hospital where the doctor is the boss

Continue to display your ignorance for the whole world to see! So, who else should "sell'' drugs if not pharmacists? Do you know that in the developed countries, no drugstore opens without a superintendent pharmacist? And even if the pharmacist goes for lunch the pharmacy must remain closed until he/she is back
Do you know why? Because they understand the dangers of uncontrolled drug use and the inherent disease burden it creates for the the nation and the high morbidity and mortality rate that can result from drug misuse and abuse.

Nigerian pharmacists don't make drugs according to you yet you take emzor paracetamol and other drugs made in Nigeria.

I live in developed world o.
A pharm can only dispense drug here unless u have a written prescription. All other drugs that can be bought over the counter can be sold by anybody.
What do Nigerian pharmacists do?
They are Dr, they are pharmacist, they are nurse, they even do d and c, they are medical lab specialists, name them
I hit a nerve.
In fact they are everywhere.

Most of the death we witness in Nigeria are when pharmacists decide to play the role of Dr etc.
I am not a novice in the field so shut up.

Aside paracetamol and orange vitamin c, what else can u produce in school lab?
The active ingredients for the so called paracetamol is imported. What can a Nigerian pharmacist do?
All the drugs in Nigerian market are imported. That's how pathetic u guys are.
The only thing they are good at is liaising with drug importers so they will use their certificates to import drugs for them. Pay them as agreed.
Let me not open your nyash.
The most useless profession in Nigeria.os pharmacy.

The only hospital I have seen where pharmacists do their work is shell hospital and guess what?
It operates on international standard.

U had done well by correcting him . I don't know the reason of calling him ode. Some people don't know the differences between the two. Foristance , a graduate had asked me a question if I am in the UK or London. I just have to tell her the answer.

As for the professionals ,Nursing and pharmacy. I will prefer Nursing .In Nigeria , or abroad U can make extra money as a Nurse by working extra shifts or treating patient's at home or establish your Nursing facilities . These days Nursing is being sort for all of over the world becouse they are the first point of contact in health care delivery system.

Check if they are really nurses first. Nurses are professionals in their own right and cannot be bossed around by anyone. Their demand is also crazy outside of the country. Anyone who wants to Port out can choose Nursing ahead of pharmacy.

But pharmacy is more academic, and they are obviously more respected in Naija, than Nurses for now.
because your wife is a nurse abi? and ur riding on her back to abroad. if not, u and ur goons hate nurses. stupid medics. I will still slap one of u in d ward one day.

pls and pls don't opt for nursing Samsung004
you are a big pig. How can you compare Nursing with Pharmacy Almost anyone can do Nursing but you have to be very intelligent and focused to do Pharmacy. Nursing only gained some respect because they are well paid abroad. Nursing ke? grin
and u will continue to be pained cos that respect which is long due is not going down any soon. Trust me, not anyone can do nursing, agreed, pharmacy is (made) more difficult than nursing but I'm extremely convinced you are confused by quacks you see parading as nurses.
