Its another independence day celebration and 25 years after the lovely Album All we need is love was released by the great funmi adams and cbs sony records then way back 1990,even though the country has not improved much since the song was released but at least with the new govt now we are facing a new direction for greatness.

Her most famous song was Nigeria my beloved country

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBAoRf1O6m8

First Stanza
I know a lot about my country
I know a lot because I care;
I know a lot about the (pronounced der) people
I know a lot because I’m here.

Chorus:
Nigeria, my beloved country (pronounced and elongated as ‘be-loo-ved ‘)
Working together is the key
Nigeria, my beloved country, our future is you and me

Second Stanza
Land of iron, land of coal
Agriculture, oil and coal
They are assets that we own
Round the (pronounced as ‘der’) world, our name is known

Chorus:
Nigeria, my beloved country (pronounced and elongated as ‘be-loo-ved ‘)
Working together is the key
Nigeria, my beloved country, our future is you and me

Third Stanza
I know we have a great potential
To do more than just survive
Let’s build up our strength and pride
Trust in God to be our God

Chorus:
Nigeria, my beloved country (pronounced and elongated as ‘be-loo-ved ‘)
Working together is the key
Nigeria, my beloved country, our future is you and me

her other songs include

All we need is love

Mama

Omode o

ina gizon yake

Aha ye yaro

Nnem nnem nnemo

Omolasho

and so on

The Purpose of these thread is to try to uncover the mystery of funmi adams who seem to have disappeared without no trace for the past 23 years according to the executive producer ..Tunde alabi Hundeyin(Dudu music),so deep is her mystery that almost everybody that use to work for her then even couldn't trace her or were even no where to be found besides the producer Tunde akins and editor tunde obalana.
Is these how we will just let these beautiful songstress disappear with her works which inspired an entire nation with songs of unification on brotherhood, sisterhood and what it means to be patriotic.

N.B...Pls if you have any of her vhs/vcd pls signify so we can at least revive her works again (and pls forgive my typos) Thanks smiley

I must confess I was only reminiscing about my childhood; the independence day, how it was usually colourful and the song Nigeria my beloved country came to mind, I search for the music on youtube, watched it and cried in the office fortunately for me a link directed me to this thread and I read all the comment in a sitting, op and the other crew with the helping folks I pray that your success will never be forgotten,
Mummy Funmi Adams you inspire me to do more for my country, the country that contributed little to my wellbeing but made me what i am today, I hope you surface back to inspire our youths that have took the wrong turns and for us to really appreciate the work you've done we need you ma.

Wow! I read through from the beginning to the end of the thread. I have been wondering about Auntie Funmi's whereabouts for years and I am glad the mystery has been solved.

I used to wish to be part of her videos in those days. A big big thank you to everyone who had laboured tirelessly to solve this mystery. God bless you. I found her Facebook page on this thread too. I will go there to drop a thank you message in her inbox. She might not acknowledge the message but I know she will see it and be happy.

I hope she is found. I once tried conducting an online search on her but didn't get any substantive information.
Her song ''Nigeria My beloved country was a beautiful anthem in my childhood days. It made me feel patrotic and proud of Nigeria....can't say the same nowadays.
Anyway, who knows the Singer and title of this oldie - 'Egwu Egwu Igbo amaka, Omalicha nwa bia tewa la m egwu? I've been searching for this song.
I'm earnestly waiting for a response,thank you.

That's a track from Stella Yama. She's now a gospel singer, check her son Ndewo on YouTube to listen to her recent work.

Hasn't step in Nigeria since 2010? So basically even the lady who inspired our Childhood of having hope for Nigeria ended up leaving also. Well I dont blame her
Back in the oldies when she sang this song and now... Nothing has really improved... As a matter of fact things have really gone worse
While the world has, moved on we Africans are still behind.

Our Doctors are leaving for the western world... There's been a huge brain drain of skilled Nigerians relocating to Canada.. I left 4 years ago and it's very unlikely that I'll return permanently anytime soon.
The recent 2019 election has made me given up on all hopes I have for this country.
Nigeria is collapsing before our eye
We definitely need to go back to the drawing table and restructure the entire system if not we'll continue moving in circles

So what's the update? Did y'all get in touch with her? Or is just finding the songs all you were after. True, she may just not want to be found, but how do you truly know that that's the case. There are so many loose ends that people never tied up about what happened over the years and where she could possibly be. Did anyone even try calling her or the supposed woman in Pittsburgh?...

I read through this thread and the other one before it and learnt a lot more about passion and perseverance. The op is really a man of impeccable character and a dogged fighter. You are many class above the average Nigerian, you showed all through what it means to be focused and i hope other learn that and more from yoursel and the team that lead this interesting search. This can easily be adapted into a thriller or documentary of some sort.

Everything about this is nostalgic for me too because music was almost everything for me while growing up, you hardly need to own a TV or Radio set in your house before you know most of these songs back then as it was played everywhere. I have catch up on almost the oldies song i used to hum back then and even discover Madam Olajubu. I am a firm believer that the music shapes our thought pattern and i always recommend and appreciate good music.

To Funmi Adams, i never met you but your work speaks volume of your loving character and i sincerely pray the rest of your are spent in good health and peace of mind. You will forever remain in our memory, we love you more than words can say. I hope today 's crop of Nigeria musician will take a cue from these show of affection and dig deep to drop music that speaks value to our consciousness.

I followed this thread from way back, and as October 1 draws near again thoughts of her songs play through my mind as we use to watch them on TV on Children's Day(May 27), Independence Day(October 1), and Sundays.

Kudos to the OP and everyone that have contributed in one way or the other to this cause. Thank you warrenweste, OCTAVO, nezero, gist..., nbb....

Here we are in the future pictured then and still searching for the "LEADERS OF TOMORROW".

While we have not improved relatively much as a society, we should remember to honour our HEROES PAST. She is one!

Through this thread we know where she is in the world, those she worked with, where she use to live, where she use to worship, ...., M most likely she prefer to stay off public eyes cos the Nigeria of her dream wasn't forthcoming, and we can access some of her songs online.

I wish a Presidential delegate can decorate her with a worthy National honour there is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and aired live on National TV. She deserves it!

This is possible the social media of today.

Happy Independence in advance. We will get there someday!
