You can study either and still work in either fields. My advise is move with people that does what interests you in the field which could either be programming (sciences) or networking (engineering). The advantage engineering might have over sciences is that some companies e.g oil would have a vacant position for any engineer, that way you stand a better chances. I studied sciences and I currently work with colleagues that studied engineering. So, you may say they’re interwoven. P.S: engineering is a bit harder than sciences. |

Better go and study marketing related course and then get certified in Digital Marketing and try to master it. Work will pursue you in Lagos and you will get tired with the one to choose. Study any of those shitty courses and then depend on luck, split-chance and miracle to get a huge job. Digital Marketers are the highest paid entry-level position in Lagos and those with marketing background are given undue preference. |

Silas6:Go for computer engineering. It will cover all aspects including computer science. Engineering is also a broader field and you can still go into ICT/all the programing things much later. Basically, it is a win win situation. But computer science may limit you. |

The difference is clear.computer sciencist know how to operate the computer while the computer engineers repais the computer |

Computer Engineering is a scam in Nigeria, no Nigeria University has the facility or human resources to train computer engineers, therefore if see it on listed courses offered by any university in Nigeria you are advised to visit the school, you will be shocked by what you will see. |

Don't waste your time studying either of them in Nigeria... I know a lot of graduates who can't even move a mouse. |

My advice is to choose computer science. In future, you may want to go further for a master degree or PH.D, it will be easy to do so as most universities offer it. But for computer engineering, most universities in Nigeria do not have it upto that level. In some universities switching has some conditions Besides, computer engineering deals mainly with hardware which you can easily learn within six months in any computer lab that offers training |

Computer engineering is more about design systems, circuit design and analysis, electronics, micro controllers, a little bit of power systems and more of hardware programming. With computer engineering, you may even dable into telecom and control engineering, basically you have no glass celine in your career path as you can even learn programming language like Java, Php and take the jobs meant for a computer scientist. Go for computer engineering and be prepared for a rigorous 4- 5yr program. |

Hardware and Software.... Com Eng deals with the physical part of computer system and a little of its software to run the fixed hardware. While Com Sci deals with internal (software), which involve application packages of the computer. Com Sci does not have any biz with repair of the hardware. |

I will advice for computer Engineering but do not limit your studies in class to be relevant in the labour market and thank me later |

internationalman:Pls don't talk out of ignorance thereby discouraging some ambitious mind. Computer engineering is not just about your laptop or desktop. The term "computer" shouldn't confuse you. As for computer science, I can assure you, you don't know what you are saying if you say it is a scam. I read electricals in the university and I work with computer science graduates. The successes recorded so for by these CS guys in their private businesses will shock you. As I speak with you right now, one is planning to go to court so he can be relieved of his present job which the ogas at the top refuse due to some signed bonds. You know his planned destination? UAE. He has been getting countless contract offers from there and his job is obstructing him. If you read CS and read it well, oga, the sky is your limit. In case you don't know, the so called industrial revolution is centred around software technology. We keep talking about ICT will soon rule the world, central to this is Software development experts. |

goshen26:who told you that? computer science does not deal with Hardwares but intellectually speaking they are also taught how to repair and maintain them to an extent, I know I was.!! |

Simplyleo:Hahahahaha, I laff at that dull person, I am a student still studying computer science, I Made an app for my secondary school and every month the used bandwith amount to #5000, Not much, but I upgraded it and now the bandwith is amount to #11200 every month and 17 secondary school are already using it, that is #190,400 every month by sitting at home multiply that amount by a year that is over 2million, i earn more than my parents and this is not even among my top projects.!!! Keep dulling yourself and don't take up com.sci.!!! |

Simplyleo:Ask him if he learnt most of the thing he knows from school, unless he went to a private university. Most of the computer engineers can't even fix a laptop, desktop, read and understand a schematic diagram talkless of designing a PCB . I have also meet some computer science and computer engineering guy who can't do anything of the things I mentioned. A computer engineer that can't even build anything,is that one engineer? Most of them are technicians. |
| Re: Computer Science And Computer Engineering: What Are The Differences? by Simplyleo: 7:18am On Oct 07, 2019 |
Lordpeckxy:Honestly, I sometimes laugh when I come across comments like that. The world today is almost completely ICT-driven and key to this is the software development experts. When people say ICT will soon take over from oil, quite a number don't really understand the concept as it is obviously too deep. In summary, the need for the oil itself becomes dramatically reduced due to ease of things brought about by ICT. Abeg, I no fit shout. |

udemzyudex:...The school is just meant to guide you, there is little the school can offer, it all depends on you.! In my class, only 5 people understands when its time for programming, you know why because we do our home work... We read, we learn, we practice, and we never get tired of asking questions.! |
