Optometrist can a woman with vitreous detachment push hard in labour? Will it worsen the condition? |
| Re: Ask The Eye Doctor Any Problem Concerning The Eyes by optm(m): 7:37am On Oct 16, 2019 |
nahzyla:hi vitreous detachment doesnt really pose a risk to vision unless in a few cases where it might pull hard on the retina during separation causing a tear and leading to complications like retinal detachment in d long run but there's no evidence that suggests worsening cases of vitreous detachment during labour |
| Re: Ask The Eye Doctor Any Problem Concerning The Eyes by nahzyla: 8:54pm On Oct 16, 2019 |
optm:Thanks doc How do you know if its vitreous detachment or retinal detachment because I was having flashes on the corner of my left eye after scratching it hard. |
| Re: Ask The Eye Doctor Any Problem Concerning The Eyes by optm(m): 10:00pm On Oct 16, 2019 |
nahzyla:go for an eye exam. Though scratching the eyes wouldnt cause u to experience flashes but it's necessary you schedule a visit with ur eye doc |

Good day. Please, since yesterday, my right eye has become sensitive. Any exposure to little light, there's always pain. Up till this moment, I've been trying to cover the eye whenever anything light related comes to it. Including phone screen. What can I do? |

ezedioranma9:any other symptom like redness, watering, sandy sensation ? have u been rubbing the eye lately ? |
| Re: Ask The Eye Doctor Any Problem Concerning The Eyes by ezedioranma9(m): 11:38pm On Nov 24, 2019 |
optm:It's just red. It doesn't itch, not watery, and no sandy sensation. Just sensitive to anything light. Thanks for the response. |

ezedioranma9:is there pain ? Any change in your vision ? Try comparing vision between both eyes ? How old are you ? |
| Re: Ask The Eye Doctor Any Problem Concerning The Eyes by ezedioranma9(m): 6:18am On Nov 25, 2019 |
optm:No change in vision, no pain, expect when exposed to any form of light. I'm 30. |
| Re: Ask The Eye Doctor Any Problem Concerning The Eyes by optm(m): 3:37pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
ezedioranma9:just observe and if it doesnt get any better after 24hrs, endeavour to visit an eye clinic. Initially i suspected it might have been corneal abrasion but i cannot make much from your symptom. An examination would help alot in unraveling what might be causing the much light sensitivity on that eye . |

Good evening, doc. Please I need your thoughts on something. During a recent visit to an eye doctor, I was told I needed to receive a drop for further investigation after the initial examination. The doctor told me my vision would become blurry for around seven hours after receiving the drop - that wasn't exciting. I found it difficult imagining myself sitting on a back-less stool for that long with my eyes closed, doing nothing. This brings me to two questions: 1. Isn't there an alternative to receiving such an eye drop for an examination? 2. What could make the use of the eye drop inevitable? I would have asked these questions at the clinic, but I don't think they came to mind. Also, the eye clinic isn't near where I live. Please I need your opinion. Thanks. CC: optm |

hbot for recurrent, problematic and difficult to heal corneal abrasion: When corneal abrasion or ulcer is difficult to heal hyperbaric oxygen therapy can help you. This treatment is needed when the ulcer is deep, healing is prolonged and can form scars that will affect vision or cause blindness. HBOT shortens the healing time, reduces or eliminates corneal scar formation, and restore normal vision. See how a patient with corneal abraision benefited from hyperbaric oxygen therapy -hbot. U1:Hi dear. Sometimes, it is very necessary to use dilating drops on the eye during eye exams so as to get a better view of the posterior part of they eye. there are various reasons to use dilating eye drops aside this i stated. You wouldnt have to wait 7hours . The 7Hours you were told is the time it would take for the effect of the eye drop to wear off . You'll just be needing to wait for some minutes for the drop to cause the eyes to dilate and after which , the intended proceedure is carried out. If you drive, it's necessary to come with someone to drive you home as vision would b blurry. Also endeavour to go with a sunshade to use after dilation because u'll find light uncomfortable outdoors. |

optm:Thanks, doc. I would have responded earlier, but browser issues contributed to make that impossible. Yes, I had the feeling that I wouldn't need to wait for hours before the examination will be done after receiving the drops. My main concern is having to sit idle with blurred vision for the seven hours that he told me. I am the type that usually won't stay that long without doing something. This is why I was wondering if the drops are really inevitable. Or did you mean my vision won't remain blurry for seven hours? |

Good evening doctor. Few days ago, I began experiencing blurry vision- like after spending few minutes on watching TV or pressing phone , my eyes bceome weak and things become blurry immediately. I noticed my eyes seem heavy and somehow painful too. 2. Also , any time I am on motorcycle , my vision becomes darkness sooner than my eyes experience wind/air caused by the speed/motion of the machine (motorcycle) 3. I visited an eye clinic yesterday. I could not effectively read those alphabets recommended for me to read ,during examination. At the end , the doctor asked whether I have ulcer ,which I suspected I have . He then recommended some drugs for me ,with the statement " if the drugs do not remedy the blurry vision, then the alternative could be GLASSES. I will like to be advised by you. Is there any hope of completely regaining my original vision ? I don't want glasses at all. Meanwhile, I have not bought the drugs recommended me . I don't trust those eye clinic around me here. I shall courteously await your response . Many thanks . |

yemiprogress:hello dear. To d best of my knowledge in practice, i'm not aware of any relationship between ulcer and blurry vision .blurry vision could be caused by alot of things. going by what u posted, I doubt the competence of the doctor or genuiness of the clinic u visited as d doc (if one ) should hv been able to tell if glasses was what u needed when u visited. I advise u visit another clinic |
