In the build up to the elections Fulani herdsmen became the ultimate Boogeymen. They were all over social media. Every kidnap was ascribed to them. Several stories were specially written to show that they would also kill Muslims of other tribes.

Now the elections have come and gone, and all the stories have suddenly disappeared from social media. Kidnaps are no longer attributed to herdsmen ,but to actual criminals.

Politicians are struggling to find a new boogeyman to rile their base.
