This is the most concise and comprehensive analysis I have ever read about marriage.

Totally On point

Fisher007:
Hmm where do I start from?

Marriage is a scam.

Legacy is the only thing a man needs. As far as you have a child or children (surrogacy, abduction or baby mama). All na pickin, the rest is history.

Most people marry for flimsy, weird, crazy, survival, unfathomable and dumbfounded reason. I will speak for the men. Ladies you can speak your own too below in the comments section tongue

You will marry a woman who's love for you is provisional, transactional and conditional. ( For better for worse statement na scam). If you doubt me try your luck. 95 percent of people in marriages are sad and cheat on each other.
The last 5percent are in a open relationship known to both party. Them just they push through for survival purpose

For men:

Na white knighting and captain save a slut wey dey do most of us. In order words beauty and toto dey too dey deceive us.

You will marry a woman you think you know. But you have no idea actually. She will form submissive, homely, loving until you done put am for house. Gbam the equation will change. Most ladies marry you based on their time don dey reach or based on they need you to provide.

You will now start understanding the famous quotes "my wife has changed. She is not the lady I married".

You see whoever you marry will always change. Change is constant. So don't complain. She will get fat, she will have hormonial imbalance, she will nag you. You will loose your peace, calm and quiet life. Just even forget sex - that one go turn weapon and manipulation tool for her. She will get old before you. Mind game go kill Una for house. It will be a power struggle since most women don't want to play their traditional role in the house. You will just be slaving and suffering for an ungrateful being brought out from your ribs.

To go home after work will be a problem, beer parlour and hangout will be your new base. She go police your life die. Na pure cage you go put yourself. But what do I know. Instead of you to stay single and enjoy your life as man. Nobody is rushing you. You will let stupid societal norms and Disney/ Naija/ Indian/ American movie fool you. Love doesn't exist man. It is only compatibility that exist.

You will hear excuse such as you will die alone. Lol. Did you come to earth with somebody before? Psssh

Qoute me at your peril. I done talk my own. Transformer and river is not far from you. Find the nearest one. grin

the way some of you use isolated cases to generalize is mind blowing, like they're no foreigners marrying Nigerian ladies?

I think it was last year, there was a video of a woman who poisoned her husband, and the man was writhing in pains vomiting blood while the woman was filming and running commentary. They were Congolese and the incident happened in Belgium. The images remained in my memory ever since.

My fear is getting yoked to the wrong person and paying for it with my life. One cannot be too careful. It takes the Grace of God to meet the right spouse and not the effort of human, no matter how intelligent.

First, when it comes to issues of married, we the youth mostly observe and carry out investigation/visitation when the need arises. Secondly, our counseling unit is not just about marriage. It's even off recent that we started handling issues on marriage.

I totally agree.it's like accepting that what's the usefulness of being present in a social party that will end up in horrible fight and chaos.but we just have to preserve the nature and human chain.

l feel you're talking about me... The worst is ending up with a broke lady after all these things person experience...guyyy
hahahahaha.
But see...
Been broke in Nigeria is not a function of ones lack of intelligence, readiness, or hard work. The country is really messed up. There's really limited opportunity even for the hardest workers. I wouldn't want to base the compatibility test on finance. The thing is... What mentality does the person have. Does she realise that life is not a bed of roses and so she shouldn't make crazy demands or show signs of ingratitude for your efforts. Is her head alike with yours, such that you guys can brainstorm to get financially free. Or is she the type that will say you should rent a 300k apartment just because she doesn't want to fall short of the glory before her friends. Once she's able to see the bigger picture, she's okay bro

Re: What's Your Biggest Fear About Marriage? by Nobody: 11:23pm On Nov 18, 2019
Probably none, because it may not happen.

People must understand that marriage and having kids isn't the ultimate of life; it's not special. It is not an achievement. Pretty much what the couple thinks is 'love' fades away after a few years, children or troubles. It's so fast in some, it happens just after the wedding. My neighbors wedded last weekend only to start fighting with each other over how to share the proceeds from the wedding gifts. Just imagine!

The divorce rates in places like the US and most developed countries will even give you an inkling of just how high the failure rates of marriages are. It's only in Africa & Nigeria that marriage is a big deal. The average American man/woman cares less about marriage. I personally believe that there aren't so many cases of divorce in places like Nigeria because many people just like to suffer in silence and not speak up or don't have enough guts to walk out of a bad marriage because of societal and family pressure. Of what people will say. Or of starting all over with a new person.

Forget IG, many marriages in real life aren't what they are portrayed as on social media. Time usually reveals all things. Do you think it is easy to love and cherish somebody till death comes knocking? After seeing them for who they are; the entirety of it, when the mundane things that led you into the marriage may have faded away or when life happens?

I'm not in anyway encouraging people to remain single but if you must marry, make it of utmost priority to marry the right person. Court, study, date, wait, do what you must to find out, just don't do anything hastily or out of family pressure. Oh, I've made a few bucks and my career's great. I'm stable financially. Next stop, marriage avenue. Or, when family members or friends say 'What are you waiting for? You're not getting any younger o'. No. Remember, the people pressuring you aren't going to be there when things go south in the marriage.

And any trait in your partner you cannot cope with during this period, don't expect a miracle to happen in marriage. You will be shocked. I promise you. Sadly, in some cases, one may not even be alive to regret it. That man/woman you introduce into your life can make or mar your life in ways you cannot imagine. Sometimes for life!

Worse still, you'll bring innocent children into the marriage to experience the repercussions of your mistake. I understand that no one is perfect, but bro/sis, make no mistake. Some people can be talked or counseled out of some traits. Non life-threatening, or non-sickening traits; of which the propensity to drive you mad or kill you is infinitesimal. Something you know you can cope with and handle.

In summary, please, don't be an idiot. If you can't keep your vows or cope with all the pros and cons of marriage, don't go and jabaru another person's life abeg. Just be singling your singleness in peace.

Peace.
