It is venomous... I think its a member of the viper family. Its fast n lizards die in minutes from its bite. Called Orura in Igbo language. Has killed many ignorant cos its actually aggressive.

God bless you..
Everybody should disregard those that claims that the snake is non venomous. I'm a pig farmer and have had several encounters with this snake coz I spend a lot of my time in the bush.
1. It's very fast, I mean very very fast.but if u are fit enough to chase it a little longer, you can kill it,coz it gets tired quickly.
2.The snake is venomous. I repeat, It's venomous. I've seen it kill rats, lizards , squirrel in one bite. I once saw the snake running while carrying an agama lizard. The funny thing is it crawled over my boot and not noticing me, I hit it with a stone and missed,it dropped the lizard and fled and on closer observation, I noticed 2 fang wounds on the dead lizard. I also had a similar experience with the same kind of snake.
They tend to loose consciousness of the safety of their environment when they are in feasting mood.
Please do not listen to anyone saying that the snake is non venomous.

It’s actually a harmless non venomous snake that feeds on rodents, roads and frogs but unfortunately for it, it was hatched/born in Nigeria where all snakes/reptiles are perceived as venomous.

Even the gentle giants (constrictors) are gruesomely killed. cry

you see my brother, there is no time to check particulars and ID card to know weather it is enemy or friend. grin

Very fast snake specie, I've killed two in our compound. It is highly venomous and unless antivenoms are taken fatality is 100%. It's a Mamba from what I've read

Looks like a mamba to me... Why asking when everybody knows the fate of the snake? Las las, na una belle e go enter. Knowing the name won't deter LALA people

Are you then suggesting we all pause a minute and say to ourselves "Oh my! Let me check if this snake on my porch is venomous or dangerous before I think of killing it!" I hope you know most Nigerian hospitals don't stock anti-venom?
