Go change the lock and key. Probably the former occupant still has a copy.

Some robbers also have master key...You may need extra fortification like padlock etc

Bro same happend to me in 2016 December. I changed the keys of the house and I had just stayed in the house for 3months or less. My laptop was carted away and there was no single sign of breaking-in into my apartment. I'm still trying to figure out the way the larceny occured.
So sorry or your loss.

My advice: Move out of that apartment when your rent expires or if you can afford it soon enough before it expires. Do not buy any expensive items home again.

Some use the ceiling to enter and exit a building. A thorough check should be conducted cos changing locks alone doesn't help in all cases

I was rubbed at gun point n matchet....30 mins d idiot were busy moving my valuables in my presence n was helpless. Police arrive after dey left took pictures nothing came out of it

this is the more reason it is always advised, immediately you secure a new apartment, first thing to do is change at the least the main keys (the entrance doors, the gates if any).
as Nigerians we don't take this things seriously, at the end we get bitten to our negligence. we blame everything on the government even when as citizens are willing to do nothing to help ourselves.

Report to the police and pay them to investigate the agent and owner of the house. Also, you probably dropped your key/s where it could easily be duplicated. I know some thieves move around with a set of master keys.
Another very important advice for you. Always change your locks when you change apartment or break up with an ex. Especially an ex u don't trust.

Police will not get your items back and they'll even charge you for the statement.... Sad but it's always good and advisable to report such things to the police cause it doesn't take time before you start hearing stuff like "... but did you report?"
