englishmart:
1.Jesus is the only way to God, John 14:6
This invariably means those who don't believe in Jesus have no business in heaven.
Christians worldwide have an estimated population of 2.4billion people
Islam records an estimate of 1.9 billion adherents, Hindu has an estimated 1.1bn adherents. The remaining world's population have their own beliefs which includes atheism.
If Jesus is the only way to God, what happens to those who don't believe in him? Hell? Well, the Bible suggests so.

2. There are a lot of complications and contradictory remarks in the Bible- a verse says don't drink, another says "Drink for your stomach sake", or "Do not drink wherein excess."
Malachi 3:10 a famous Bible verse on tithing speaks about bringing your tithe to the storehouse (church, maybe)
Deuteronomy 14:22-26 says otherwise, it says "you should drink and be merry with your tithe". I'm seriously beginning to doubt the credibility of the Bible. Maybe the translators' fault or God told writers different stories on the same issue. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John's account of Jesus and see real contradictions.

3. Does God answer prayers? Well, I'm not really sure about that. Someone might be suffering from malaria, the person takes drugs and still prays, the drugs work, but the person thanks God. Or a successful surgical operation, instead of thanking the doctor, they thank God. Some illnesses that would have been treated led to deaths because a certain congregation who were supposed to take the ill persons to the hospital, circled around praying. Faith without work isn't it still dead?
I remember when I had stomach ulcer, it was really terrible, I prayed and made several promises to God that if He took away the ulcer, I'd drink no more alcohol and will be more devout in worshipping Him. That didn't solve anything though, I stopped drinking and took to taking my drugs more seriously. Weeks later, I was well. I returned to drinking and after a few months, the ulcer resurfaced. That was when I realized I really needed to quit drinking. Prayers wouldn't have solved that issue.
I spent 80% of 2019 at home because of my misgivings about God's existence.
I really wish I could be convinced about God's existence because I'm not even happy to be away from Church because of the views of friends and family.

4. Children of God, or so called children of God tend to suffer more tribulations, hard times and desperate moments, a lot of them scream "Vanity upon Vanity" when secular people live in luxury or spend extravagantly. God tends to turn his back on those who worship Him especially when they need Him most.
The 1933 Holocaust and mass murder of Jews to the tone of 6m was a clear indication that God turns His eyes against His people
Repulsive comments are highly welcome

Besides no1 which I cannot explain what or how it wud be, the rest of ur reasons from 2 to 4 I have personally questioned and resolve absolutely that God exists.

I started question from the secondary school days because I don’t follow trends cos other people are following and I wanted to know for myself why people believed and if this wasn’t sm
Kind of mistake or zombie mode.

Bt then i discovered even mighty science had little explanations to the reality and origin of life and comparising with the Bible even tho not absolute bt was more convincing than a ridiculous Big Bang theory.

Read through ur bible and see histories which u can relate and verify to sm extent with history in the circular world.

Also the Bible is balanced in its presentation even when talking about almost Godlike men who did wonders bt showed their weaknesses at certain times and u wonder if it’s not a spite on the person of these men of God bt that’s the realness of the Bible. No matter how spiritual u get u are still human.

Even the life of Jesus is a story that cannot be explained fully by human literature. It’s beyond Shakespeare and the rest of the amazing writing we have in the circular. All this can not be a coincidence or mistake bt Smtn Greater at work.

Also God and neither Jesus is or was against medicine or physicians. He created science for its purpose bt can answer problems science can’t resolve or find difficult. When Christains have malaria and have the drug and refuse to take it for spiritual reasons I think it’s wrong. I almost think it’s like tempting God. Cos I ask why then do we eat food? Why did Jesus Christ eat food when on earth? These are laws of nature which are not broken to prove childish or egotistical points.

If there are no drugs then ur prayer can be applied or applied with the drugs if u feel that way.

Sm Christians are just trying to be more spiritual than the Bible or Christ himself bt it’s ignorance and hypocrisy.

God doesn’t forsake his own, There are knowledge and laws that need to be followed. U can’t say becos Ure spiritual u shud be ignorant or reckless and expect God to stop things from happening. U were given a brain for a purpose and ability to learn for a reason. Jesus didn’t starve himself just because he cud do it to prove a point. He didn’t do magic like a joke just because he can. There are principles and law that go with what happens in life and how u influence it.

The Bible isn’t against circular knowledge either. Sm Christains are just confused bt the Bible isn’t confused in what it’s saying. There are aspects of the Bible in which men where speaking their own minds and experiences with God.

There is no reason,Absolutely no reason to be an atheist. I can tell u this emphatically. I have been down this road trust me and the atheist route had more questions than answers. A very meaningless road to say the least. Feel free and question the Bible and know the truth because it will set u free. Cheers.

Re: 4 Reasons I'm Considering Becoming An Atheist by simplesearch: 7:58pm On Dec 30, 2019
Don't be an atheist my brother , seek God for your self and you will find him when you seek for him with all of your heart. The enemy of your soul is wrestling to have you in the way of eternal ruin, don't look down but look up to God. Charles Darwin, Steven Hawkins, John Lenon and many others have toe this path before, today they know better.
From the beginning of the world God has always shown to man how to seek him and how to find him. It was a perfect and true relationship devoid of doubt and uncertainty in the garden of Eden, the fellowship was perfect an all was peaceful. Unfortunately man chose to disobeyed God by erroneously believing the devil that there should be a better or another way than that between Adam and God, after the fall such alternative was discovered to be non-existent and so punishment followed, nevertheless in that awful state God still showed to Adam how to find him outside the garden of Eden, though it wasn't going to be so cheap again like it was in the garden of Eden. Thereafter, Abel followed this true path, but Cain rebelled against that true path and committed murder. However After the birth of Seth, it was shown to him again the true way and he followed that path it, Enoch, to Abraham, to Moses all followed.............then down to the coming of our Lord Jesus, it has always been one way to God not two or three, since God is not the author of confusion. Then Nimrod came with his own religion built on rebellion and disobedience against God, afterward we have numerous other religion that follows both ancient and contemporary ones like Hinduism, Bud-ism, Shinto, Druze, Hare Krishna, Islam and many others. How do you know if they are a deviation or the true path? it is very simple: any religion that is not built on the principle of holiness and righteous and truth can not be from God, for God is holy, true and Just. That is exactly the emphasis of Jesus which no one can refute, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man can come to the father except by me. Now does WAEC or JAMB have to visit every secondary school to know the level of their preparedness before setting it's general exams? they expected you to know what is at stake and prepare for it. God has sent Jesus Christ to the world and the Bible as the final syllabus from where we can all tap into the beyond and be prepared for the afterlife, but most times we jettison this for our own man made Ideas and religion cultivated by people who have never seen God at anytime and so know nothing about his personalty, unlike Jesus who boldly said I came from him, I shall suffer many things and be killed but the third day I shall rise again. we prefer this contradictions to Christ. However God will encounter a man and convince him of the truth at least once in his life time before departing this world, so that no man will have an excuse for not accepting the truth, which is Christ in their soul however remotely far from civilization they may live. that's why you can never see a town or village or a generation where there is not a single righteous man well respected who call others to shun evil no matter how idolatrous or deep in evil they may assume. The bible said, God will never leave himself without a witness in every generation. Acts 14:17

In summary,

The difference between Christianity and other religion is not that of authenticity but validity. Not about which one is more authentic than the other but which one is the true way to God and others must be false since they all teach different things which are irreconcilable and pole apart, for example between Islam and Christianity the two religion with the highest adherents, by extension Jesus and Mohammed, in other word one must be true and the other false, one must be a deceiver and the other the true way to God, one must be in heaven right now and the other in hell due to the grave differences in their teachings, as both can't be in the same place. Where you are going should determine the route you take, if it is heaven do you think atheism will take you there? you know the answer. Jesus is the only way to God, and no matter where and what religion you are born in you can personally come to God through Jesus Christ the only way to God, there is no other way to God and you definitely can't come all alone by yourself. You need a mediator, an advocate, and that person is Jesus.
Choose wisely!

The problem with atheism is the nihilism that follows it.

Number 4 is false, you can't prove that.
How do you know Christians suffer more?

Christian or not, you will face suffering. Its life.

We all have expectations that won't be met easily, which is where the suffering stems from.
Being a Christian doesn't make it worse for you than the non Christian.

Religion isn't there to make life heaven on earth or make it any easier. Its there for moral guidance.
Your choices have to be guarded lest you hurt the next man.

Either you are being dishonest or you are a fanatic.

How can you claim to know history of the bible and then date human existence based on Adam and Rve in the bible?

How can you not know that people live more than 5,000years before Christ?

How can you not know what scholars say about the bible?

For instance, no reputable scholar will defend the enslavement of jews in Egypt because it never happened. The exodus never happened.

You either are dishonest or ignorant

So, it is only what you say that is true and unfanatical then. I'm dishonest or a fanatic or ignorant if I disagree with you and your magical scholars. But you are honest, well educated and reasonable only because you don't believe in the Bible. It seems to me that the easiest way to become a world-renowned, reputable, honest scholar is to claim that the Bible has problems and should not be believed.

Honestly, this conversation is a waste of time. I have answered your question and I have gone on to entertain your Bible- and Christian-hatred. I have neither desire nor reason to carry on doing so. If you decide that you have something reasonable to say or some reasonable challenge to offer to the Christian faith, I will listen and respond as appropriate, but I have no time to waste on hateful rants filled with no useful information or meaningful challenge.

mr man, i hate debating religion, but i must tell you, that the knowledge of God, is far different from religious knowledge. infact the easiest way to know a little about God, is in the study of nature. e.g can you explain to me how humans acquire conscience, even without any religious doctrine? infact most religions kills conscience of men, than aid it, through wrong indoctrinations, and this accounts for so much beastly characters of humans, these days because wrong religious indoctrination 've succeeded in subduing their conscience.

Science is still developing, there are many unknowns out there that science is catching up to. Carbon dating may not be as accurate as it's assumed , that is why there are constant changes or updates on your science books or scientific publications or journals e.g. carbon dating may not be accurate as once thought of. When the first man flew with the aid of machines, it was through countless trials and errors until someone finally figure it out and that is how science have came to light, through trials and errors or experiments, researches and so on . The physical laws are always constant e.g what goes up must come down which is the law of gravity. But behind those laws is the unknown in which science cannot possible explain. I really dislike how some people use science to dismiss the belief that there is no God and call everyone who do not agree with them stupid. Anyway everyone is entitled to his or her opinions or beliefs.

Bro, the Devil just spoke to this audience through you. Its a trick, he did that with Peter, fortunately for Peter, he was with Jesus, who could spot him head on.
Today, in several mediums and Social media, the devil is speaking, evangelising and cunningly recruiting soldiers. Bro, don't be fooled, you aren't his target, he's using you to get more people in this platform, he got you already.
You need to seek God's forgiveness for being so ungrateful for keeping you throughout 2019. What do you think you are to question God. He is sovereign. He decides who to have mercy on.
Again, death is not final for believers, like the 1933 evil, we have hope of resurrection. Please seek God's forgiveness

Evil, bad are all perspective.

There is no coincidence, and nothing happens "by accident.” Each event and adventure is called to your Self by your Self in order that you might create and experience Who You Really Are.

God is in the sadness and the laughter, in the bitter and the sweet. There is a divine purpose behind everything—and therefore a divine presence in everything.

Although, we have been raised to believe that good and bad do exist; that right and wrong are opposed; that some things are not okay, not alright, not acceptable in the sight of God. But, I tell you everything is "acceptable” in the sight of God, for how can God not accept that which is? To reject a thing is to deny that it exists. To say that it is not okay is to say that it is not a part
of God—and that is impossible..

Our ideas about right and wrong are just that—ideas. They are the thoughts which form the shape and create the substance of Who we Are. There would be only one reason to change any of these; only one purpose in making an alteration: if you are not happy with Who you Are.

If your values serve you, hold to them. Argue for them. Fight to defend them.

Finally, nothing happens without God. If God isn't there it means God is limited.

Most of the New Testament writers never met or saw Jesus in their lives. They lived many years after Jesus left the Earth. They wouldn’t have known Jesus of Nazareth if they walked into him on the street. But. The Bible writers were great believers and great historians. They took the stories which had been passed down to them and to their friends by others—elders—from elder to elder, until finally a written record was made.

And not everything of the Bible authors was included in the final document.

Already "churches” had sprung up around the teachings of Jesus—and, as happens whenever and wherever people gather in groups around a powerful idea, there were certain individuals within these churches, or enclaves, who determined what parts of the Jesus Story were going to be told—and how. This process of selecting and editing continued throughout the gathering, writing, and publishing of the gospels, and the Bible.

Even several centuries after the original scriptures were committed to writing, a High Council of the Church determined yet one more time which doctrines and truths were to be included in the then-official Bible—and which would be "unhealthy” or "premature” to reveal to the masses.

Good evening, OP.

I trust it must have been quite a fascinating ride through the road of faith and belief. I have been there myself, too.
First, I was a true Christian. I struggled with my sins and confounded with questions about the existence of 'God', sought answers to questions no one could possibly explain reasonably, I found Buddhism and eventually became religionless.

I became an atheist in its radical form. I was eager to initiate ontological arguements with Christians and sought victory by rendering them defenseless. I studied religions of the world considerably to support my notion of the non-existence of God and against the belief that Christ is "The Way"and Christianity is the right religion.

Along the way, I found Buddhism; it not only calmed the desire to find answers to my seemingly unanswerable questions, it made so much sense with its pragmatic approach towards life and reality and also it made me understand that it is perfectly OK not to find answers to these questions as they are not as important as the appreciation for the beauty life held. I read enthusiastically about the teachings of the Buddha and was eager to tell anyone who cared to listen that I was a Buddhist.

Fast forward to now, I have learned a lot life, the universe, nature, creation to appreciate their beauty and about atheism to know it is pointless being one. Why? The ONLY way atheists could prove the non-existence of God is through the same source which Christians prove the existence of God and which atheists dismiss as fallacious, and a fairytale. It makes atheists no less "deluded" than Christians. If you want to be an atheists to prove God doesn't exist to everyone who cares to argue or listen, it makes stupid.

Whatever god we believe in, whether God exists or not, CANNOT be proven, not by science, not by faith. Let's all take a chill pill from all of these.

Quit being an atheist, you may not appreciate the beauty of the universe, creation, mother nature well enough. It doesn't matter how they come to be, it doesn't matter if there's hell or heaven. Let's be greatful for this extraordinarily wonderful thing called LIFE.
