Good day everybody. So I have lived with poliomelythis for more than two decades now. I have strived so much to achieve alot for myself because I never allowed my situation deter me from achieving my goals in life.

Everything has been going on smoothly: Education up to MSc level, a job, a car and things a man can acquire and say he has reached a level of comfort.

The one thing I'm yet to get is to be in a stable relationship. 99% of the girls I've dated never took me serious and we never lasted long. Some will even take advantage to chop my money and bail after a while. It got to a point I had a bitter negative stereotype thinking all women are mainly out there to exploit a man.

It wasnt until earlier this year when I met someone who changed the horoscope. Like she is so down to earth and actually loved me for me, without even looking at my paralysis. Things were going smoothly until she started becoming aggressive and emotional over little issues.

It took a while but she was able to open up to let me know how her family vehemently told her they dont want to see her with someone like me. They also threatened to disown her if she insisted on being with me.

Currently, we decided to stop seeing each other for the sake of peace to reign in her family. We do keep communication on a 100. We both love each other genuinely and we do not want us to split just like that.

The lady, now my ex-wife, tried to convince her parents to give their consent to our marriage, which they reluctantly gave after 3 years.
Few months after our wedding, my business took a nose dive and all hell broke loose.
She started sleeping around knowing fully well her parents wouldn't express their displeasure about it.
We eventually ended the marriage after 2 years and her parents were most happy.

Please and please, get someone whose parents wouldn't object to your union. they are your support.
Or better still, get someone like "us".

Many are crucifying me for my message, but I'm a realist I said things they're in reality.
Never tried convincing anyone who doesn't understand your world to accept it, it's like covering a deep hole with camouflage. The hole is still very much there, but deceptive to the eyes. soon or later, it'll review itself.

Bros, my simple advice is that if your girlfriend truly loves you, she would put her feet down and tell her family who she wants. Disability is not an issue the days. Even, the governor of the State of Texas in USA is on wheelchair. If she cannot do that, then you keep searching. Never you feel dejected. Cheer up. Better days ahead.

I am disabled, a polio survivor too. I have similar experiences. My woman stood her ground that it's either me or nobody else. Once I was sure of her love, I didn't allow discouragement from any quarter, even my family and friends who felt I should move on. The opposition made our love stronger. God was on our side, and eventually everyone agreed with us. The wedding was grand and the talk of the town. We've been married for over 17 years now, and blessed with wonderful children.

My advice: stay focused, continue to show her sincere love, pray hard. Don't give room to any inferiority complex, you have what it takes as your achievements show. Don't be discouraged.

If she loves you as much as you love her, you guys will prevail eventually. Stay strong my brother.
