I have a renewal interview for Feb.2020 but scared as I don't want to have any history of visa refusal.
I had my baby at Henrico Doctors 2017, went for vacation 2018.
Visa was gotten for B1/B2 but used to birth. Sincerely, I didn't know this thread before applying for visa. I was introduced by a friend and that was the of change of intent era.
I was sent for secondary inspection and advised to keep my receipts which I did.
I have my itemized bills also.

Please any advice?

Did you declare at POE that you were going to put to birth in 2017?
If yes then go for your interview with all receipts and expect the best.

Yes I declared at POE.
My major concern is basically the amount I paid which was not up to 10k dollars as I was given self pay discount
Thank you

Add every cent you paid ie
Hospital
Doctor
Test
Ultrasound
Well baby check up
Anaesthetic etc

Go with receipts too

You would be surprised it will be close or more than 10k

So when asked you state the total amount you rounded up.

No emphasis on the figure paid the last time, and the figure to pay now? I think there should be. Every other thing seem to tick right as it were, but we can never say never with these peeps you know.... I can see too it seems she was pregnant already at the time of visa acquisition, and these people tend to be retroactive too in recent times, we need factor all these in. I'm actually concentrating my calculations on visa renewal as she at the end of the day and of this current visa would have successfully holidayed and birthed twice without encumbrances surely.
After dis comment...i had to go back to my records just to be sure...hospital charged around 4500 and doctor's charge was around 2200...there were other fees dat were paid after delivery like immunizations and some other tests that were conducted after we were discharged...but can't get d exact amounts that were paid
Now i discovered something else as i had to call the place i stayed to know if more receipts were sent in...
Gdmorning everyone...(please kindly advice me on wat to do)
In relation to my previous post...upon making enquiries for my previous delivery in the U.S.. I contacted d place i stayed while i was in d u.s and they said 3mails were sent in for me...and on opening d mail they found out it was a bill from d hospital sent in after i had left d country, now it seems d hospital had gone ahead to contact a recovery agency since they dint hear from me...
I need to clear up d bill which is about 500dollars(which was sent to dat address about a year ago)...but how do i go about it so it wont affect my travelling for delivery next year?

Update to this...
DW and I welcomed our baby boy in the first week of November at Emory University Hospital , Midtown Atlanta as initially planned.

Summary of how it all went.

Re-applied and got October 3rd as the earliest date for interview, efforts to get a closer date proved abortive even with agents. So I had to take excuse from my training to make it there for the interview and then back to PH on the next flight after Interview.

Interview transcript (VO was a black guy and he had actually approved like three persons while we were there)

DW and Me : Good morning

VO: Good morning , your passports please

VO: Why are you going to the US?

DW: To birth our first child

He was reading on the computer for like a minute

VO: Let's try to unpack this, I will ask you a couple of questions and then we will see.

VO: (Facing me) , where do you work ?

Me: I work at xxxx

VO: How long have you been with them

Me: 8 years going on 9

VO: Do you have Hospital/Doctor's correspondence?

DW and Me: Yes ,we do and payment receipt too (Passes them to him)

VO: (Facing me) What countries have you been to?

Me: UK, Turkey ,Kenya, UAE ,France and Netherlands

VO: Interesting

VO: And when last did you travel as a couple?

DW and Me : We were in London and Turkey last August till first week in September

VO: Okay (Facing DW) , why did you apply to Canada Ma'am?

DW: For visit

VO: Who do you know in Canada

DW: Friends

VO: Okay, I'm reading through your history now and it doesn't make sense to me why you were called back the last time.Well ,I am going to approve your visa now and I can assure you won't be called back this time (Now , that was peaceful to hear ...lol)

VO: What they say is true , avoid discounts that may affect your future renewal.Take this pink slip and go over there to pay your reciprocity fee and drop your passports. You can pick up next week, have a safe delivery

DW and Me: Thank you

POE

DW flew Delta to ATL the following week @35weeks (We got fit to fly but they did not even ask to see it according to her) with wheelchair service at POE.
Just few questions about her trip and got stamped for 6months .No luggage check

I joined her 12 days later after my training and POE was also smooth for me.Just that the Inspection guys checked my bags for few minutes.

Accommodation

We rented Airbnb apartments for the whole 10 weeks stay

Documentation

Special thanks to @TripleKMama for being there whenever I had questions, since we used the same hospital.

Most of the information regarding Emory and documentation has already been highlighted by her on this thread.
In addition , a friend sent me this too.

" US Passport Application

1. At the hospital, you will be required to fill a document requesting the newborn baby's birth certificate and social security number
2. Pick up birth certificate from the county
3. Book an appointment at the Atlanta passport office (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast/passport-agencies/atlanta.html)
4. Take a passport picture of baby

I got it from the county’s (Fulton in our case) vital records office two weeks postpartum as advised by the hospital birth records clerk. I believe you can get it earlier but I guess the two weeks is just to be sure it will be ready when you go.

hi All,

I binge read this blog and topic and i gained a lot so thanks to all those who drop their experiences here. Accordingly let me give back with the hope that the new question i have can be answered.

** Long Post Alert*

i applied for visa (using a highly recommended agent) yes o i used agent, not because am lazy but because my work is so tight and i didn't want to make any mistakes. Moreover i didn't have enough time to waste as my pregnancy is far advanced so i needed a close interview date. i applied for me, my 2year old son and my mom (to help out in the US)

we all had separate interview dates (an error but it worked for our good). All in Lagos

First Transcript - Me (applied for B2 Visa) no need to lie, belle don dey show already.

interview lasted less than 5mins. happened early Jan so no queue at all

Questions asked included
- Why are you travelling to the US - Child birth / vacation
-Where do you work & what is your job title / how long have you worked there
- Where does hubby work
-Asked to see budget sheet - i made that substantial and way over the quotes i got
- Asked to see Doc correspondences
-Asked to see Bank statement , proof of fund
- Who are you staying with - will make my own accommodation arrangement (used intown suites for the interview)

next thing, madam your visa has been approved, blablabla... white paper, ensure you don't use any medical aid or unexplained discount
me: thank you ma

Second Transcript - Mum - mid Jan so long queue at the embassy but short interview as well
VO: Why are you travelling
Mum: to help my DD who is going to give birth
VO: does she have a visa,
Mum: yes - shows her my visa
VO: have you traveled before
Mum: Yes, Germany
VO: How many children do you have
Mum: Bleep
VO: Your visa has been approved, blablabla... white paper,

Final Transcript - SON
VO just asked if i had a visa, if i had traveled before outside Nig and how long am staying.

though one over zealous guy before the main visa section (those guys that check your appointment and affix something on your passport) flexed muscle for me. saying he wont clear me to go in because of his silly Ego. Nigerians Sha SMH but its all good.

what i learnt
1. be Honest- this interview guys are smart. if your story is not straight they will see through it
2. be composed
3.be prepared
4. Then leave the rest to God

On Hospital search, if you no get time, use agent (dont be stingy lol, shebi you wan go spend million in America grin then verify what they got for you. or read Nairaland and google the rest. its best to search for an OBGYN in your desired area first then they can tell you the hospital they use or even share the hospital rates with you

Now my question - abeg make una help me
For the visa interview i used Virginia and said i didn't kn[quote]
ow anyone on my form - now i have an offer of accommodation in Dallas Texas (family friend). however total medical bill for Virginia (CS) is lower than that of Texas. Bill from Virginia was gotten via agent, the one for Texas i got by myself

Do you advice i go with the original plan which is Virginia / Henrico hosp or should i go to Texas. will i have issues at POE if i change locations?

Mamas that have used henrico please advice if the bill is truly affordable with no hidden charges??

Travel date is fast approaching (end feb) and i need to book a ticket.

Thank you!!
Hi madam,
can you please help with the link /phone nos/Email of the Doctor you contacted/used in Henrico/Virginia/Maryland ,pls it's very urgent.I will be looking forward to your reply, thanks in anticipation.

Good morning everyone & happy new year,

I got a B1/B2 visa in May, 2018 and it is expected to expire in May, 2020. Even though i applied for that visa for tourism purposes, i got pregnant in July, 2018 and used it for child birth in 2019. I declared the purpose for my visit at the POE and paid my bills in full $14k plus for Virginal delivery without discount.

My question is, in view of these ongoing denials will it help my case if i use the visa one more time for vacation in March/April before applying for a renewal in May/June ?

Gurus in the house kindly advise.

Any one, as long as it is over 8hrs and less than 48hrs), that it is going to or fro the US and that you have a valid US B1/B2 visa (and that you have not had a recent UK visa refusal anyways), you'd be fine.

You may escape it by whiskers because of the POE declaration and the amount spent on the medicals alone, but hardly, to be sincere, a very tight one. Because visa was never first used for it's purpose, this could easily be seen as deliberately obtaining visa for the purpose of birthing before TTC. Using for its original purpose now is medicine after death.

Is it not the US Embassy - the Naija "branch" of it - we are talking of here? An occurrence of just recent time? 2019 oh? Tough call. May it be well with you sha....
