Too late bro, USA was el dorado for you for 33yrs and you achieved a lot living there and in another phase of your journey in life now. That's all I'm saying, I'm not against you moving back Nigeria as I have repeatedly said here.

If you started a life in Nigeria in your current age you will never achieve what you have in the last 33yrs period.

Again, not el dorado for me anymore and you’ve been consistently posting to attack my move back to Nigeria. Why, I don’t know, it’s not as if it’s a community project. Others have called you out on it too.

You don’t know what I’ve achieved or can achieve cause you’re not omnipotent wink

How about your children ?Are they planning to relocate or are you going to start a life of bachelorhood at retirement age

My kids are all grown now and have spread their wings. You’ll be surprised how many children are on Lagos bound flights coming to see their parents here. There’s so much to do in Nigeria that bachelorhood is not even on my radar.

Have a nice day.

That is not true. You are not God and do not know where he would have been. not everyone that moved abroad was jobless or poor. I came to school and was offered a job before I finished, which I took because I wanted "international experience". For a number of years and sometimes even till now I still wonder if I made the right call given where I would have been. I had a very good and high paying job which many people would literally die for. I plan o return, hopefully soon but for now, I am trying to make up lost ground.

Sir,

This is just an opinion, please try as much as possible to ignore some comments.I know it's not easy.

I was reading a lady's experience about migrating and living in Dubai, the thread was later turned to all sorts of arguments and insults. She later abandoned it.

Some of us are following to serve as a guide.

Thank you.

I agree and will attempt that.

Thanks.

Prenuptial for naija, definitely not. Some of us are actively looking for ways to leave the country like yours truly grin but we still understand people that see Nigeria as their beautiful place. Kudos boss!

I knew from when he created this thread that it would be hard for this to go down well, because he is shaking a very high table by posting the very opposite of what people want to hear.

Imagine if this thread was about moving to Yankee from Nigeria, we would be somewhere on page 30 by now, with many people shouting "boss", "sir", "chief", "abeg come update", "knack us pictures abeg", "God bless you for this wonderful thread", "please epp me", "I tap into your blessings" and all sorts of asslicking words with multiple PMs...
I don die for lafta grin grin grin

The station in Omi is still undergoing construction. In my layman opinion they are moving as fast as humanly possible to accomplish a modern international model, not the sloppy ones that are done locally

Just want to say - abeg - leave prenup out of any entanglement you want to do in Nigeria.

What is the retirement age in USA? If you came back from USA after 33yrs with nothing to start a life in Nigeria how long will you live to make?

His children are in the custody of his 3x divorced wives who also collected his properties and funds in divorce court.. and that's why he had no choice but to return to Nigeria.

Moral of the story: never take the advice of anyone dumb enough to get married and divorced 3 times to three different women.. dude is on Nairaland preaching because he can no longer return to the states where he lost everything! OP has serious issues that he hasn't come to terms with yet. @EgunMogaji2 am I lying?
I will take it that you are an online troll that wants to derail the beautiful thread he opened.I directed the question to him to
get his opinion and also enlighten others thinking about relocating to Nigeria in future.I wonder why the youths of nowadays hate Nigeria so much that anytime you say anything good about Nigeria it attracts hatred.I remember the hatred the late Dora attracted when she wanted to rebrand Nigeria, ditto Nnamdi Kanu when he wanted break away from Nigeria and then abandoned sowore when he called on the youths for revolution. Are these kind of lazy, ignorant, hate filled, tribal, get rich quick quick mindset, run overseas youths;what we bank on when we say the youths are the future generation?..smh

If you were legal or worked during those 33 years you will be entitled to social security monthly,401k/TSP Medicare etc and those monthly pay checks would go a long way in a country like Nigeria where standard of living is very cheap compared to US

PART 5:

Now, we are in Nigeria, Ibadan specifically. I will not compare the USA to Nigeria but only reference when i find it necessary. The USA is light years of Nigeria and Nigeria can never match the USA in a million years, my personal opinion. So let's just dey our dey and they dey their dey cheesy

This is not to say that Nigeria will not make improvements. She will but it will be at a staggering low pace. You can have peaceful existence in both places or hard existence equally in both places. Messrs Dangote and Otedola are in Nigeria. Joe the whino is on skidrow in Los Angeles. May our blessings find us where ever we are at.

What I want to do in this part is introduce you to a few people. None of them knows me but they have an impact on why I decided to make my move when I did. Not all of them are in Nigeria, some are in Ghana and other African countries. I link specific videos that were of interest to me.

Jasmine Ama - Ghana
I watched a lot of her videos on Ghana.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0UBhRbyIss

Kulu Vlogs - Northern Nigeria
I watched almost all her videos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj607icqHBM

Tayo Aina Films - Lagos, Nigeria
I watched a lot of his drone videos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn8_NdaibkQ&t=14s

If you watch only one video, this is it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKAFwjcx0gA

The Returneez
I watched a lot of the series.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzvDAGMYz1c

Just to put this out there.

Enjoy.

Greetings.

Though I really don’t have to create an income stream from Nigeria, I want to so that I can remain intellectually active (has been shown in studies to be ideal in advanced ages) and also to give my little token back to the youths in Nigeria.

One of the business ideas that I came home with is affordable housing for low income earners. Unfortunately the way it is in Nigeria is that people have to basically go way out to the outskirts. This compounds the issues of low earners due to cost of transportation and commuting time.

I then realized that most of the affordable real estate that I purchased are in these suburbs. If I had started buying 5, 10, 15, 20 years ago then the lands could still be available closer to places of business and more affordable. What ends up happening is that most companies who claim to offer affordable housing ends up either in the forest or they buy existing homes in city centers, knock them down and rebuild. Costs goes up and affordability goes out the window.

So my advice to Canada bound folks is to secure real estate, some way, some how. But most don’t have the foresight. They’re single handedly focused with nary a care about Nigeria.

The other thing is that the advent of internet has made internet banking easy. With sites like BossRevolution and others, one can easily fund local bank accounts. If I had started earlier doing that then I wouldn’t have wasted money on stuff like jet skis and other nonsense grin

Anyways, it’s all good and God’s time is the best.

This is a beautiful thread sir. I'll implore you to ignore the naysayers to avoid derailing the thread.

My question to you is regarding investing while working abroad. How do you navigate that? Does it require monitoring by someone on ground here in Nigeria? And if so how do you know who to trust?

Enjoy your retirement sir.
