TemmyT002:I won a case on Gbari custom of inheritance and marriage for a widow who was a wife to a late councilor. Her in-laws threw her out of the matrimonial home and took everything from her, with the aid of the chief of her village. They claimed she wasn't properly married according to Gbari custom. I showed the chief serious shege in court and all her in-laws. It was a vigorous trial and the chief went about slaughtering Rams and calling my name in several shrines, according to the woman and her ppl who were also doing their own shrine activities. Now why am I saying this? Idbthe woman and her late husband had done court marriage, much of this would have been avoided. That is not say that in-laws drama doesn't happen in court marriage, but it is reduced, especially if the family has a lawyer. BTW, marriage is not a must ehn. u can be having baby mamas upandan. 2 Likes |

See this Oga. By the time you are 65 -70 years of age, you will come back here and change this your story. By that time it would be too late and you would regret not knowing the value of building companionship with a woman who has known you for years. By that time , the freedom you so cherish today will turn to a prison which you are running from now. Better get your ass up and go out there to look for a good woman with true love and build your future. bluefilm: 2 Likes 1 Share |

QuickStandard:the law does not recognise the traditional and religion marriage, they only recognise the court marriage(which is done in the ministry)because they are the only institution that is licensed to give marriage certificates.. the marriage certificate the church gives must come from the ministry |

What if you are no yet dead by then? Or are telling us that you have a concrete plan to die by 65-70? It is true that life does not have a map when it comes to the issue of death. Nobody knows when his/her death will come. However, one deserves to live a better life at old age and the companionship offered by marriage is one of those major things that spice up your old age life. If you look around you today, you will see many old people who are lonely in their old age because they refused to plan for old age companionship. bluefilm: |

cerpvad: Companionship will not be a problem for me at all, if that is what you are worried about. I will still have lots and lots of my good ol' friends who are equally old like me to keep each other company in our old age. |

Liposure: The pressure is there but it's left for me to either give in or continue with the status quo. Even those pressurizing you to get married already know that their efforts will amount to nothing if you don't agree with them. At the end of the day, life is an individual thing. |

MoonandStar:the court can find out if ur partner makes a complain...in a case of u taking a second wife or doing a contract wedding with another woman, ur wife can sue u to court.... and that is why part of the procedure of doing a court wedding is that, 21days notice of ur new marriage will be made known where by the photograph of u and ur new spouse will be uploaded on the notice board in the registry so that anyone that that sees the pictures of the couples and have a good reason why the couple should not be joined together can make their complaint and that marriage will be stopped |

Your problem is that you don't know the difference between companionship in marriage and ordinary friendship. As you are growing, many of the friends you keep today will be dropping because of change of interests, locations etc, Many will desert you because they find new interests e. g they no longer belief in things you share together, while many will leave you because of change of location. If you look back to 20years ago, can you say all of the friends back then still remain with you today? The same thing will happen when in your 60s, 70s 80s, not all the friends you frolick with today will be there by your old age. You may claim you will make new friends but it can never be the same like someone who has known you all your life. And that someone is the WIFE OF YOUR YOUTH. Better stop being lazy and go out there and find her now that you are still young. bluefilm: |

Na man dey benefit no be woman, with the authentic white wedding a woman can never ever marry another till she got divorced but a man can take another wife traditionally but will not wed her. and if the man no give you divorce you siddon there and chained down except you go court speak better grammar and get divorce, women are disadvantaged in white wedding and not the other way round. MoonandStar:if he was legally married then he has to legally divorce her only if their marriage has passed 2yrs(that is if he got legally married in nigeria) but if he married outside the country, i will advise u and ur go to ikoyi registry and make proper findings before u continue with the marriage so that u will not have any issue in future because his former wifr can sue him,, u will get all the answers u need and they will also put u tru on what and what not to do. |
