Buhari Ends DSTV Exclusive Rights On EPL Matches

The Federal Government has ended Multichoice’s exclusive rights in broadcasting sporting events in the country following a statement issued by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Special Assistant to the President (Media), Office of the Minister of Information and Culture, Segun Adeyemi made the statement available to newsmen.

Consequently it has directed the National Broadcasting Commission to immediately implement measures aimed at sanitising and re-positioning the industry.

“This regulation prevents the misuse of monopoly or market power or anti-competitive and unfair practices by a foreign or local broadcaster to suppress other local broadcasters in the television and radio markets.

“This is so, having removed exclusivity from all content in Nigeria and mandated the sharing of all content upon the payment of commercially viable fees,” he said.

Mohammed said the new regulation is contained in the report of the committee which he set up to work out the modalities for implementing the recommendations approved by President Muhammadu Buhari to re-position the broadcast industry.

The minister inaugurated the NBC Reform Implementation Committee on Oct. 10, 2019 and the committee chaired by Prof. Armstrong Idachaba submitted its report on Nov. 19 the same year.

The minister stressed that the break-in monopoly will boost reach and also maximise utilization by all broadcasters of premium content, in order to grow their platforms and investment in other content.

It would be recalled that Mohammed, last year, said that the Federal Government was determined to end all forms of monopoly in broadcasting because “it is detrimental to the actualization of the immense potential in the industry

The best ku band Lnb for fringe Satellites like 9e and Hotbird 13e on refurbished 4m dish.

Presently using Star Gold 2 way (the high end) but the Horizontal TPs still disappears from 7:00pm.

Don't know how invertor Black would perform but I'm ready to experiment on LNB provided it's original.

Similarly, which diseqc 8 way is the best? Most of these China products are failing already and affecting signal

That can't be weather..The satellite is built with solar panel to charge batteries in daylightThere will be loss of solar power at night! Then switch to charged batteries @ night...it is obvious the battery capacity and the satellite power consumption is effecting the signal....

on my 4.4m I experience no signal loss from any time to any time.. all I notice is dat d signal normally boost during d night.. from 6:30pm

Let me explain it to you.

There's no way there wouldn't be signal drop on fringe satellites. It may not be complete loss, but there must surely be drop, as explained above by Odilibe.

You have 4.4m
I have 4m.

On your 4.4m a TP on Horizontal may be 80%
On my 4m a TP on Horizontal may be 72%
From 7:00pm, the TP would normally drop from your 80% to about 75% but because 75% is still high, you would not notice any difference in signal quality

From 7:00pm, the TP would normally drop from my 72% to about 67%. Because 67% is not high enough, I would notice difference in signal quality, as it would freeze or crack.

Vertical TPs increases at night, while Horizontal TPs does the opposite.

Your dish is big, hence you may not notice the difference.

Check the two TPs today from 7-9:00pm and revert back
