Evening fellow nairalander,

I will be traveling to the US soon, I will be visiting and staying with my brother and his wife, campus in view in one university in the same state for my PhD program. ALL expenses is on me as I lecture in tertiary institution. I haven't marry yet and no travel history.

What are my chances?

No chance at all....

Save your money.

Hi everyone

This might not be the most popular opinion lately but please stop this illegal migration. No one will tell you the truth ooooooo. A lot of illegal immigrants are suffering. They are in serious bondage. They earn chicken change, they can't fly to anywhere , they are stuck in a particular environment. Simply put, it's not worth it. Don't jeopardize your future over the so called American dream. Hustle well here and just go for holidays. After my recent travel experience, I weep for my people. I come in peace.

U are very right
Those illegals are in bondage plus real suffering.

Your chances are good in my opinion, depending on the course/program, funding and the school. But you will not know until you try. Good luck

You have 30 days to go pick it up since you didn't make any pick up arrangement, especially if there's no designated DHL office working with them in your home state. Seems there's none in the South East oh! PH and Benin have one each

Can a representative pick this up with the slip or must be applicant? Thanks.

Huh....what is wrong with those people.
Why are they choosing to remain undocumented/illegal immigrants when there are a number of loop-holes the US immigration law has with ways they can change their illegal status to become legal.
Getting married to a US citizen is one way...as well as other ways if they are ready to put in the effort.
From illegal or undocumented status, it's only marrying a US citizen. Try and see how many of us want to marry an illegal / undocumented alien and to pay lots for to make him/her legal.

You have a very good chance to get visa, PhD is very respected and accepted, even US gives you a grant for you to follow the PhD studies, you can get a job lecturing at the same University. Try to visit also Fulbright https://us.fulbrightonline.org/countries/selectedprogram/18, maybe you get your grant from your own country. Good luck!

Most recent visas now come with a clause "no change of status". Our people still ignore it and think they can play the system.

You are to fill different forms. They might not ask for your statement. The main thing is if your trip is genuine. If yes, then confidently answer your questions.

My brother is a plastic surgeon in Cleveland, married to a US citizen and two US citizen children. That I choose not to waste my time responding to bogus claims does not make them true.

The idea that those who despise visa abuse are “sanctimonious” is why nothing changes in Nigeria and why you will continue to be denied visas encases. It also explains why the Nigerian passport is worth nothing out there. Good luck.

You're exaggerating with that "most" though.

Some are getting such notification on their passport but the rate is still very low to rarely.

Not true.

Those that are facing the challenge to go through the marriage route are either not meeting the right person to have such a relationship with or are just too clumsy.

Either way, there are more successful marriages of such.

Nope. You are wrong. Very few succeed. But it's very common broken marriages not only with Nigerians, other countries as well. Different culture, different countries, different finances, only few succeed.

Young man even if his brother abused his US visa, what has that got to do with him?

Do you know if he advised against such?
Did you expect him to bundle him in a car and drive him to an ICE facility?

Brother US immigration laws doesn't work like that. The brother will even sue him for kidnapping.

I have very very very few young people who have come to live in my home on holiday from naija as soon as anybody mention gaming the system I kick them out to go do that crap somewhere else . I don't harbor illegals in my home.

That's the most I can do. Let the system do their job and fish such people out.

That will not stop me from crucifying people abusing the privilege they were given and destroying opportunities for thousands of genuine applicants

If you feel very strongly about his brother's offense .

You have a duty to report fraud. I have done it before, there is one currently in my draft and i will continue to report it.

You seem like a young person so hopefully my story will inspire you.

Back in the mid nineties I was what they call an Efiko. No be now whey My brain done they retire. Old age and hyperactive children that won't let me rest grin
My parents never had to pay for school fees it was scholarship up until my first degree

I was a staunch Deeper Life Student whose role model was Pastor W.F Kumuyi ,you can imagine what kind of person I was . I dey use hand cover book for exam wink I NEVER skipped any step in my life or cut corners.

I got the PTDF scholarship while in a Federal University which transformed my life and I graduated top of my class

Exactly one month after NYSC I was hired by a MNC here in Nigeria worked for a few years then the travel perks started to roll in.

Europe, Middle East and North America, then finally the Houston station and those folks refused to let me go back.

If it's not too late for you, your story can be the same. Hard work, diligence, self-respect and above all believe in God then you will be whatever you wanna be without cutting corners

. . . But if it is too late for you my dear I am sorry na your destiny but the best you can do is copy my testimony make a 2'×3' poster out of it and place on the wall to use as an inspiration for your kids

You will thank me later
