Same here, Affordable test is now sorting out the issues at hand..Anyway, I knew something went wrong just that he was not patient enough to explain to us..or Perhaps we bombarded him too much with derogatory comments..He is now resolving the issues one after the other. He is on my own about to get it done.. Please, whatever notions or perception we have had about him is wrong..He is genuine and not a scammer..Moral Lesson: Patience is virtue. We all learn everyday. Let’s make sure we came back to acknowledge it when he got our issues resolved. The disdain comments we made about it should be reversed when he resolved our issues. #Shalom

Hello

Anyone know whether admissions are offered same time?

Seems peeps are already receiving offers from my priority school.

Regards
Admissions are usually classified based on the following categories:

Regular Admission.
Rolling Admission.
Open Admission.
Early Decision.
Early Action.
Early Evaluation.
Deferred Admission.

So, yes, all applicants in a particular admission category will receive their admission offer within an interval, if not at the same time.

In summary, it all depends on how early you submitted your application.

Okay, that is great... I actually came here for this update,.. Please the rest with issues affordable give us update as well.

Okay! Affordable test fixed the outstanding balance issue I had with my GRE account. I can now view my scores and was able to send to additional institutions as I wanted.

My concern now is Trump's travel ban on Nigerian immigrants. I thought the travel ban was a joke until I saw it on headlines.

Some gurus here have also identified Manhattan to be the best in quant section. Magoosh is very good in preparing for verbal section. Their rich vocabulary and flashcard are excellent. How did you get the materials from studyguide?

Gathering lots of materials can disorganize you, so that you don't even know where to start from. Put yourself together and have a study plan. Work more on your areas of weakness. We can brainstorm together. Am taking my GRE on 13th January. God will surely help us out!

Writing my GRE on the 27th of this month and I just got notified that I have an outstanding payment of $240 last week. The guy na scam and he has a lot of allies here. Don't mind those coming here to say that affordable test rectified there issues. I think he has deactivated his account on Nairaland and WhatsApp number, but I know he's seeing this though.

Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by jago2016(m): 5:24am On Feb 10, 2020
safet:
Good day everyone.

So I took the GRE on 1st November at Jkk center in Lagos. Had a score of 299, Q-152|V-147|AWA-3.0.

I was so disappointed with my score, I was discouraged about furthering any of my applications. You know, that ginger just disappeared, I was loath to even get recommendation letters from my proposed recommenders. However, I would like to highlight some of the must "dos" and "don'ts" in preparing for the GRE. Please forgive any blunders, also these are just some views I agree with, [as compiled by Profagas]. wink

Some would argue that the GRE is damn EASY even going ahead to compare with JSCE level. But others state different, saying that GRE is so HARD. Well, you can not be sure until you test your legs in it, right? The GRE is a standardized test, meaning they are restricted. They have a standard, they have a particular number of tricks up their sleeves. So the goal must be to discern/identify as much tricks as possible before the test day.

For the Quants, acing the GRE requires three things: 1. Concept 2. Speed 3. Discernment

Concept is the actual knowledge you need to know, the rules, formula, theories, method of approach you should know. Speed is completing the task within a specified period of time, you should know of course, the GRE is a timed test. Discernment, meanwhile is the ability to quickly see the answers by inspection, ability to quickly know you’re solving in the wrong way, ability to quickly strike off wrong answers, and the ability to be able to make correct guesses. This is the most important. The gist is if you know all the concepts, and you are fast, but can't discern, you will keep falling for the tricks laid down by ETS. You can finish a section with 10 minutes to spare and get a 9/20. I was so good with the concepts but speed and discernment were my Achilles heel.

There are several prep companies with different books, a lot of them. They all have their weak points and strong points. So number one is the official ETS materials; the trio of the Official guide, official quants practice questions and the official verbal practice questions. You should be over familiar with the content of these books. You should’ve solved all the questions there. All of it, they are the most trustworthy folks. You also need the GRE Maths review, they are also from ETS.

For quants, it’s a worldwide concession, Manhattan 6 books and the 5 lb book of practice question are the best for the concepts. Then you need to watch Magoosh lecture videos. It’s not really about reading, it’s about solving questions. So you should pay attention to questions and HOW THEY ARE SOLVED. Very important. HOW THEY ARE SOLVED. You should watch the Magoosh practice questions videos for this. There are different ways to solve a question and only one ETS way of solving.

The verbal section doesn’t have a formula, no fixed pattern like quants. Just there to frustrate good people. But it’s the GRE. So it can be aced also. For Verbal, Manhattan is quite weak, but you should try to read them (books 7 and cool. For RC which is the toughest set of questions in verbal, Kaplan is the god. Kaplan chapter 7. For SE and TC, you need to memorize vocabs, a lot of them. Use Magoosh Flashcards on your phone, if you have more time, you can check out Manhattan 1000 and Barron 1000 word list. That should be enough. Help your pacing by answering SE and TC questions first within the first 10 minutes, then the remaining 20 minutes for RC. Also, short passages before long passages.

For AWA, the best is Princeton review.

The point is you don’t need plenty materials. You don’t. In fact, some materials are point blank bad for you. They don’t set ETS-like questions. Don’t use anyhow material you see or mock test you see. Whatever it is you are looking for, is in Manhattan, Magoosh, Kaplan, Princeton, and the ETS materials. That is all. THAT IS ALL. Others are just repetition or bad for you. Don’t spend time going through several sources, reading same thing over and over.

Conclusively, PRACTICE! PRACTICE!! PRACTICE!!! You don't want to be like me who prepared for GRE for aggregate 5 weeks with an 8-4 job. Of course you want to pray about it. Believe me it works. You’ll want to be assured that the Almighty has your back, not even just for the GRE but even graduate studies as a whole.

Create time for yourself, but that doesn't mean you have to stop living life. Be happy. Don't kill yourself. You don't need overnight, don't let it affect your life. It's a terrible thing to be sacked because of GRE overnights. It's just a test. People have gotten full funding with 299. I know there are schools I can apply to. cheesy wink

Let me put my profile here. Please contact me if you have useful information for me. You can also contact me if you have specific enquiries about the GRE, or like to get a memo when Leo Messi wins his 7th Ballon D'or.

Looking at applying for PhD in Immunology/Virology/Cancer therapy.
UG- Microbiology, 4.39/5.00 (3.63/4.00 wes unofficial)
GRE- 299, Q-152|V-147|AW-3.0

I need your advice. We all need to follow our dreams. Thanks.

Cheers.

I took out 2days to read through the pages of this thread and i must say kudos to the founders , danjaninja, sirriddy et al ,may God bless you guys abundantly.
I have an intention to secure a good GRE score thats why i took my time to read most passages of this thread to understand past takers experience and i must say that doing that had a boost on my confidence level.
I studied Accounting at Nnamdi Azikiwe University and wish to pursue a master's in finance in Canada , university of Manitoba being my only choice for now. I graduated with a cgpa of 4.04/5.00.
I have some Questions and Suggestions
QUESTIONS
1)I have seen some materials listed at the initial page of this thread (2014) Are they still valid (up to date) ?so i dont go on preparing with wrong materials.

2)I reside in Enugu and i did some research on centers that offer GRE Registration and training, the least amount for their GRE exam registration is 85k, one center even said they register for 110k, so please house what is the current cost of registration? Can i register by myself?
Also concerning the training i was told 70k for a month am still wondering how possible it is to cover within a month tho, i need advice on this.
Suggestion
Reading from page 1 of this thread was quiet intresting ,there was no notice of scammers and all that but on getting to the later pages i started seeing such
Please anyone with the intention to scam another should drop it, lets resurrect the vibes this thread had when it was created, lets help one another in every little way..thank you
Opinion
I wish to connect with prospective GRE test takers with a burning desire for success , we could share ideas that may help us...
Also those that have taken this test , you can act as my mentor oo , although your reward will be in heaven

Then those planning to take the test and reside in Enugu

Feel to send me a mail at onyidochristopher@gmail.com or you can drop your mail so i can contact you.
Please internet beggers avoid this mail address because i dont have shi shi to give.

You have to meet them one on one to constantly remind them. Some of them are very busy and will respond only if you keep reminding them. Send them emails once a while to also remind them of the deadline.

Those materials may be kinda obsolete. There should be more recent materials. Check page 286 or so or posts by elevatedmind. It's in a Google drive Link.
In my opinion, getting a great score after one month's preparation may signify you're a genius grin. You would most likely need more than a month. Averagely, 3 months is sufficient depending on how fast you improve. Many of us here didn't pay to prepare, but just studied the free materials here. Only pay when you're sure you really need someone you're confident in to teach you.
Your CGPA looks good. Other aspects of your application need to be very strong; standardized tests, SOP, recommendation letters, work or volunteering experience, leadership, etc.
Yes, you can!
