Just part of the process. The Austrian Embassy verifies everything verifiable. Usually their immigration department will call your host/conference organiser in Austria and they will check with your booked accommodation as well. That's why their process can take time.

Please is it possible for the processed passport to be available for pick up without getting confirmation reply from my office for verification?

No idea what exactly will happen with the specific handling of your own visa application. One would reasonably think that they would gather the results of their verifications of your documents first before making a decision on your application.

Can I get a visa to study a language course in France?
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by adelforreal: 6:20pm On Feb 27, 2020
Hello guys,

I got a mail from the hotel i booked for my application indicating that my reservation has been cancelled due to insufficient fund. I realised that they tried to charge the entire amount as against what was stated on their website (i.e 1 full day charge), and my account was funded to accomodate for up to two days before booking. The funny thing is that they stated ''no prepayment but 1% will be charged to secure the booking''.

The problem here is that i have submitted my application already. What can i do?

Thanks.

Thats Sad. Booking with a 3rd Party?

Trying calling the hotel to sort it out ASAP especially if you have just submitted.

Find out what their deposit looks like usually they dont take more than a nights deposit.

Thanks for the response. I actually booked directly with my card details and kept to the terms of the booking.

I just submitted yesterday and VFS confimred that my application has been delivered to the french embassy.

My issue now is that even if i am able to secure another booking from the same hotel, the reservation number will not be the same with what has been submitted already. i'm even confused now despite all the efforts i put into getting this right.

I'm not sure if they call the hotel for confirmation to take visa decision. Accommodation and flight itinerary shouldn't be paid until visa is approved its just serve as itinerary as part of your visa documentation. My understanding due any person with first hand experience should explain .

The hotel is very much confirmed .

Your Hotel Accommodation is very important, that's why are private visits applicants required to get the Attestation D’Accueil to show you will be accomodated by the person

Flights should not be paid for until the visa is approved.

For the hotels, alot have no deposits with free cancellation ,it depends on which 3rd party used .

Usually they charge one night deposit which is fully refunded if cancelled before the supposed arrival date.

Always book and call the hotel to confirm what their policy with the 3rd party used is.

Usually you have 24 hours to get to them in order to keep your original booking. After this grace period its considered fully cancelled. Act fast..

Accommodation is very important.

The embassy is supposed to verify it and they usually do.

I'm a frequent traveler and I always ensure I have a valid accommodation arrangement both for the visa process and the POE. The interesting thing is that the one time I messed up on that point, immigration did call the hotel, then emailed me to say immigration had called, so I had to quickly pay a deposit for the booking.

Reservation number makes no difference. My advice would be to make another booking immediately with the same hotel, even if you have to pay a deposit this time.
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by adelforreal: 8:20pm On Feb 27, 2020
I've spoken to them already and they insist on taking full payment now to secure the booking or i book a fresh one with different dates.

The thing just tire me.

Anyone?

Chances are extremely low. Alliance Francaise is fully present across Nigeria, and Benin and Togo are next door. Try another option.

Sadly, some hotels do this. I had the same experience with a hotel in Italy last year which cancelled my reservation despite being a no-prepayment. Maybe its the Nigerian angle.

I think you have no option but to discuss the refund possibilities for that hotel and make the payment.
