this is new!
Sure bro... It may be new, but I advice people to learn from it. I bought the Redmi 5plus, about 1week later, it started doing intermittent hanging... I formatted it over trice thinking there's malware.... You can imagine my shock when I went to register for something in a cyber cafe and logged into my Gmail, which I already logged into, with my Redmi, the system identified my phone as generic smart phone...... I was more than shocked.... This was bought in 2018... It's still hanging till date, according to the person I gave it to....the intermittent hanging is still there. I disposed of it, and finally got an RN7, from a seller wey no be jumia.... And the phone has been my lover since 2019 I bought it.... Not even one fault. Guys should learn, whether they believe or not.

True. I was looking at that Samsung galaxy s10 or even s10e, throw in a 1TB SanDisk SD card and jolly dey go, but i have to consider other factors too. Like price and software support. Samsung's software support isn't as good as Xiaomi. Their flagships start losing support 2-3 years after, and also since I tried to defend my opinion the other day and these Xiaomi fanboys had my head on a platter of stainless steel. cry, I decided to give Xiaomi a chance.
And besides e no too make sense to carry two large phones.
What's the max sd support for the redmi note 8?

512GB for Pro, 256GB for note 8

Thank you my brother. For me, it's even more important cos I move with big files on the go. Very sizable population of the World cannot do without SD Card slot. Cut-throat priced Samsung high end phones that handle up to 1TB Card is the answer. grin But I'm afraid of investing that much and mistakenly breaking the screen. I hope stronger Xiaomi would step in and break Samsung emerging monopoly is this advance SD line.
the more the quantity, the more severity the damage will be. U don't know the pain of losing data worth of 1terabyte that's within the SD card that's why ure saying all these things. Damaged SD card is hardly if not impossible to savage a lost sector, it's always advisable to invest on huge capacity HDD/SSD or if u ve the resource go cloud savings for ur backups ie if ure the storage hungry type. Whenever it comes to mobile phones, seeking for high capacity UFS storage is much more ideal for ur storage needs than the SD cos it's more efficient, fast, reliable and it hardly crashes, if u need mobility, the OTG got u covered. The SD card will not only frustrate u, twill slow down ur activity when it's almost full and at the end twill crash. Then u be like shocked

I very well understand your point. Someone like me, that has heavily being into Tech business both home and abroad for 15years, knows that majority of your stated points are false. SD Cards fragile or not durable?! Na those fake roadside own? grin Talking experiencially, I've lost more phones and harddisks to irreversible crashing than SD Cards. Oh Boy! Very rescillient Invention that should not be taken off the Plate. In fact non of my original SD Cards has ever spoiled. Also, uploading to Cloud is a good idea, which I regularly do too. But what happens when you saved all your life in Cloud and got locked out? I've lost a Some vital Accounts for forgtting Password. I believe many of us must have lost access to an email or fb we created before. I once lost a vital Account due to sudden change of IP when I travelled abroad. Also, what happens when you travel to an area without Internet or you don't have enough to buy Data but need access to you vital large files? Truth is the place of SD Card in mobile Tech can never be undermined. Samsung is wisely really cashing in on the modern monopoly. We call on Xiaomi to step in!

Buy original Sandisk or Samsung evo Plus.
I've never had a SD card that crashed or slowed down

my past experience really thought me badly about purchasing road side SD cards. Pls, when m referring to SD cards I don't regard the cheap knockoffs that ravage the tech market, i meant the likes of SanDisk extreme, Toshiba and Samsung pro endurance. I used the Toshiba SD card for less than 7months before it went numb after trying to create swap file using Roehsoft RAM Expander. The SanDisk extreme I used went baserk after I tried changing the file system format to accommodate my Xbox games, it nearly corrupted my system. I lost my Kingston SD card when using it with a card reader, it stopped functioning all of suddent, twas later I found out that the card read was having faulty USB port. My Kodak SD card got toasted when I tried using it to Create windows 10 bootable pen drive. I'm currently using the Samsung pro endurance which is not upto 5months old, well I guess time will tell.
It all boils down to the usage and I doubt the SD card can survive extreme usage and tweaking like the HDD/SSD but what I don't understand is why ure hellbent on getting high capacity SD cards than getting a phone with high capacity storage? At the end won't it serve the same purpose. if u need conveniency, OTG is there.

Life is not hard really, you can get an otg storage device if you like. Some come with sd card spots too. Or get an otg extender where you can connect ur flash to your phone. That way you can get the device u really want and with all the extra space you need. But seriously tho, why not get a slim lightweight laptop that you can carry anywhere in your backpack.

Done already and it's a smooth ride.
Though android system seems to have overtook screen on time for battery consumption but battery still last me as usual before the update. Also, u get a smoother and buttery experience.
Finally, no noticeable physical changes to the IU, its MIUI by the way and Android 10 features were already part of MIUI 11.

See work. The essence of having expandable storage is to avoid unnecessary attachments like that OTG extender or drive. He said get a slim lightweight laptop grin

1st off I didn't quote you, so my advice wasn't for you in any way. The person I quoted said he's a tech person and deals with huge files. Hence my advice about the laptop and otg. If your preference is to watch videos and listen to music I see no reason why a 256gb phn shouldn't be enough to satisfy you.

And getting a laptop with a massive HDD size is in no way a bad advise. You can store your old videos there, allowing more space on ur phn for newer ones.

The slim lightweight laptop was an advice to him. Since he is mostly on the go and this will be easier for him to carry along not putting too much strain on his back. In my opinion laptop are better than phones in handling tech stuff. And he can get external hard disk if he needs more space.

You can clearly see I wasn't talking to you.
