The rates are climbing up after the crash..

No rates climbing up is still poor, imagine Fidelity bank offering for 4 % for 192 day didn't pull through except u bid 2.2 instead of 4.

My interpretation is slightly different from yours based on the wordings of the CBN tweet.
My understanding is that you can cash out both electronic and cash deposits but cannot transfer cash deposits.
So using your case study. The total $1000 can be physically withdrawn whereas you can only transfer the $300 that came in through transfer and not the $700.
The reason I believe is that the electronic transfer always has a trail that can be tracked, the same cannot be said for the cash deposit which will only start having a paper trail from the point when the transfer starts.
I hope I am applying what my night school teacher taught me and not just applying wishful thinking sha.

CBN tweet is very straight forward. It did not make mention of BOTH anywhere, instead it says ONLY.

It simply says

"ONLY TRANSFERS INTO DOMICILIARY ACCOUNTS CAN BE TRANSFERRED FROM SUCH ACCOUNTS WHILE CASH DEPOSITS INTO SUCH ACCOUNTS CAN ONLY BE WITHDRAWN IN CASH"

The tweet didn’t say anything about withdrawing electronic transfers. It simply talked about transferring cash deposits. You can still withdraw electronic transfers, but only electronic transfers can be transferred out

Please how do I go about changing my funds to dollars, considering this rumor of devaluation. Who go fit supply me 50k usd upwards? And can I deposit said amount into my dorm account at once?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 1:10pm On Feb 28, 2020
Ironically, although I haven't tried using it this way, Transferwise is able to transfer from one currency to another, that should imply that you can transfer from naira to USD. I know you can put your bank details in the platform and use it to transfer with one currency and receive with another currency. I just used mine to transfer from a USD account direct into my naira account, cutting out the need for exchangers.
I suggest you do not do your 50k at once. $10 is what I think will trigger CBN and EFCC.

Have a good weekend, guys.

1. Stay away from crowds (80% of South Korean infections happened at Shincheonji Church).

2. Wash both hands for at least 20 seconds regularly.

3. Avoid touch your ears, nose, and mouth.

4. Stay away from sick people.

We all need to be educated about this. Health is wealth.

The effect of the disease has affected production and demand for the source of income for the country is crude oil. The price of the commodity has crashed and if care is not taken it will further affect our economy adversely.

I intend to finance a former colleagues business. The business is a corporate security firm which is duly registered, has a business office location, other due diligence done. and already operational.

Challenge
Before cheques are cleared each month, it gets to like 10 to 15th of the following month and the guards are supposed to be paid timely as this is critical to the business success factor.

Request
The business needs a running/rolling capital for payment of salaries of office staff and guards pending when the cheques are cleared. This is expected to carry on to a time the business is able to survive on its own

My proposal
Please I need advise on how to go about partnering with the business and have my capital and profit recovered safely.

Alternative To TBILLS

VANTAGE GUARANTEED INCOME FUND (VGIF) is an open-ended collective investment scheme which pools investment into a wide range of Fixed Income Securities especially very liquid short term money market instruments and government treasuries

What are the objectives of the Fund?

The fund invests in a well-diversified portfolio of Fixed Income Securities, short term money market instruments and government bonds as well as placements with rated financial institutions in Nigeria as well as equities.

The guaranteed return of the fund is referenced to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s Standing Deposit Facility (SDF). The SDF is the lower limit of the asymmetric corridor around the MPR

There are many advantages of investing in the Fund which include:
Flexibility: Subscribers can buy into the fund or redeem either part or their total units in the fund at any time irrespective of the 6-month fixed tenor.
Capital Preservation: Principal is secured and interest is guaranteed up to the SDF rate.
Regular Income Stream: The fund pays dividend twice yearly (in January and July)
Additional Income: In addition to the guaranteed return, unit holders can also earn an additional interest pay-out equivalent to 35% of the fund’s excess return above the benchmark Guaranteed Return (SDF); typically referred to as profit-sharing.
Expertise: VGIF is managed professionally by Investment One Funds Management Limited (a subsidiary of Investment One Financial Services Limited).

Who are the Trustees of VGIF and what are their functions?

FBN Trustees Limited, a subsidiary of First Bank of Nigeria Holding Plc. is the trustee to the Fund. The Trustee’s duties include ensuring that the Fund manager carries out its duties in line with the Trust Deed and rules and regulations of SEC thereby protecting the interest of the unit holders.

What is the minimum amount that can be invested in VGIF?

The minimum initial amount is Fifty Thousand Naira Only (N50,000.00).

Do I get an evidence of investment?

Each subscriber is issued a Fund Statement for every investment made. The Certificate or Fund Statement is required upon redemption of investment; it serves as an evidence of your investment in the Fund. The Certificate/Fund Statement will be sent via mail to the investor or can be picked up at any of our offices.

How do I monitor my investment?

Investor can view their account online or contact the Fund Manager on any working day to request for his/her statement which shows the total number of units and the interest earned so far on the investment.

Does the VGIF pay dividends?
VGIF pays dividend to its investors twice yearly (January & July). Unit holders have the option of being paid or re-investing the dividend in the fund to increase their holding.

ROI- 8.5.

This is the challenge I am facing right now. I deposited used cash in my dorm account with Stanbic intending to transfer it to their dollar mutual fund, they have insisted that they are not accepting cash deposits. I showed them this circular all to no avail.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 11:51am On Feb 29, 2020
Stanbic has never accepted cash deposits for their dollar mutual, not sure it has to do with this circular.

Do you mean you deposited Dollar Cash into your Stanbic USD account and tried to transfer the same Dollar to the Stanbic Dollar Fund and they refused?

I might have to do this because my money cannot be wasting without interest.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by TotoNaRubber: 7:08pm On Feb 29, 2020
That is strange and should not happen, if you have their mobile app, you could add their Dollar Fund Acoount number as your beneficiary, transfer the funds via the app to their Dollar Fund Account with your account id as reference, if transfer to the account don't go through contact their Head office and request assistance.

It is practically impossible to transfer USD cash in your Stanbic acc DOM to another Bank's DOM account then transfer it back to your Stanbic DOM Account just to fulfill the "transferred funds only can be transferred" madness.

Sach:

One approach I use for such situations is to approach another branch or another staff in another day. Sometimes you can demand to see the manager.
However, my experience with stanbic is that they have a special form for their USD mutual stuff, not the normal transfer form.

Ha, they refused? Try making the transfer from your Stanbic dorm account ONLINE. If you correctly put in your e-account number and it fails, then it becomes a Stanbic Asset Management issue.

Nairalanders pls help me!

I participated in the last Tbills and I won my bid of 90 days at 3percent.

My account officer only called me that the bank will only give me 1 percent instead of the 3 percent I quoted and did win.

How true is this?

Does the bank have power to do this.

I want to move my funds to another bank.

Pls advise gurus and bankers in the house.

Thanks.

Why would any body do a t.b of 2 or 3 percent for 90 days when a saving account gives 4.5 percent per month....rationality is key.....if u leave 10m in a saving accounts it generate 40k monthly (no lost bids ) while tb 23k per months so in 90 day u make 120k while tb 63k ...only if u are biding 1 year
