Do you mean that all knowing = all causing?

That God has the ability to know everything, does it mean that he must cause everything?

Does the fact that God has the ability to know everything mean that he uses that ability everything single minute?

If a person knows how to sing very well, do you expect him to sing every minute of his life? Would he not be considered mad? So that God has the ability to know everything, are you saying he doesn't have the ability to restrict how he uses and applies it?

So let's assume there was a first cause.

So what? Does that mean Yahweh did it? As far as I'm concerned it could have been
1. Olodumare
2. Allah
3. Odin
4. Thor
5. Spiderman
6. The flying spaghetti monster
7. Sango
8. Santa Clause
9. Buddha
10. Shiva
11. Vishnu
12. Zeus
13. Kratos
14. Ogun
15. Amadioha
16. Satan
I could go on to 4000 really...

You would still have to show how there being a first cause automatically means your god is real or that he did it?

Good luck with demonstrating that.

Thank you very much my dear. That there is a first cause doesn't mean that my God Yahweh is the first cause. It could have been any of these gods you listed.

But yet my Yahweh produce a sacred book which shows that he is this First Cause. A kind of book that these other gods cannot provide.

And some of them that has tried, are either copying my Yahweh, or documenting outdated superstitious beliefs of their ancient adherents.

If he knew, why didn't he prevent the outcome?

Another question. Does God know the exact people and amount of people that would end up in hell and heaven?

Aren't you the same person arguing for god being the first cause?

If god is the FIRST cause, does it not follow that everything else came from him?

Logically, if god is indeed the first cause, everything came from him.

If there are certain things outside his control then he's not the first cause. As there's some other thing dictating what happens. You're the one limiting your God's properties and power. Not my problem.

Firstnebo:

If god chooses to not know everything for even a split second. Then god is not ALL-knowing. How difficult is that? Let me try again.

If god chooses to not appear somewhere at any point in time. Then god is not OMNI-present.

The concept of "OMNI" means "ALL" the time.

It seems you lot just throw words around without understanding the actual meaning of them. Hmmm sounds familiar... Let me guess...indoctrination?

That's another flawed analogy. That clearly shows you have a limited understanding of omniscience.

Someone knowing how to sing does not translate to omniscience.

Omniscience would be, for example, knowing what would happen EVERY time you sang. And/Or knowing the exact times you would sing and what the environment would be like, the number of people present, each time you were singing..

Is this your best?

Good. So we now, for the purpose of this discussion, accept that there was a first cause.

1. What is your evidence that the Bible was influenced by this first cause?

2. Are you aware that there is evidence for religious books that existed before the Bible was written?

Let us take it one by one. (1) That Adam and Eve sinned and we their children are now suffering is not out of God's control. For what is worth, God is not suffering, but we the children of the disobedient two. God has set up a way through Jesus Christ to end our suffering permanently. It's called God's government ."Our father in heaven, let your kingdom (government) come"

(2) The Bible tells us that God has the ability to know everything, not that he actually chooses to know everything. For example, when the report reached him in heaven that Sodom and Gomorrah have sinned to the maximum degree, he said "let me go down to verify these reports". Which means he chooses not to exercise that power prior to that.

(3) You talked about omnipresent. The Bible does not say that God is omnipresent. Which means everywhere at the same time. No, the Bible said that God is in heaven. Jesus said "you must pray then this way, our father in heaven". God cannot be everywhere, which would mean he is also at the thousands of brothels around the world where people are committing different kinds of sins.

(4) Omniscient means that God can do anything he wants to do. The keys words is at "he wants to do". God cannot be doing everything just because he can do it. That would mean he has no control over his abilities

Besides, what's the Point of trying to get people to repent since there's no punishment or repercussions for one's sin?

When God instructed Adam and Eve, he told them that disobedience would mean death. It's not God's fault that death and suffering affects children too.
But because he is a loving God, he has already made out a way for us to be free of sin, sickness, and death. It's called God's government (God's kingdom).

The Bible said "no resident will say: 'I am sick.' The people dwelling in the land will be pardoned for their error." (Isaiah 33:24)

When God finally removes human government, brought about when Adam did his own thoughts rather than God's, and replaces it with his own perfect government, no more sickness, suffering, or death.

Okay then. Your question was why is there a need for repentance if there was no punishment?

Well. That question itself is flawed because it's based on false premise. You presumed that because there is no hellfire, then there is no punishment, but that's not the fact.

The fact is that life itself is a gift from God. If you do what he asks of you, you will enjoy the life (even be given everlasting life, which means you will not die). But if you disobey, that gift which is life will be taken away from you and you die.

If a father promises his son a brand new bicycle if he does well at school. If the child does well, he gets the bicycle, if he didn't work hard and fail, he is denied the bicycle. That would be his punishment. Does the child need to have his fingers cut off to stand as additional punishment?

Your Yahweh didn't produce a book. Men said they were inspired by Yahweh and then produced several books which some other men sat down to decide which ones were from Yahweh and which ones weren't. In all this process spanning thousands of years, your Yahweh didn't write a single word, not even Jesus supposed son of god, he didn't write a single word. So your claim that your Yahweh produced a book is spurious and undemonstrated.

There is a person that has the authority and the power to be identified as God because he alone ever existed. He is the source of life. He created all things. He inspired the holy book known as the Bible (for the purpose of bringing man to his original purpose of creating the earth).

God is the most powerful, the wisest, with the most love, and the most just of all other persons or things that live or have ever lived, whether in heaven, or on earth.

Atheism in its basic form is the belief that there is no God. Their major attack is on Christianity and especially on the Bible. They promote the theory of evolution.

So here is the challenge, I want Nairaland atheists to come and prove my Belief in the God I described above and his word the Bible as false.

In logical order. One point at a time before we move to another. With evidence and logic. No insults.

The prove that ur belief is false it the fact that u can't prove that it's true

O common! you know them. The laws of science all point to the existence of god. The first law of conservation of matter is interpreted to mean God was the uncreated first cause.
Then again is the equilibrium that exists in the universe, shows that a god guided by justice has to be behind sustaining the universe, else there should be no equilibrium. It takes a lot of intellectual investment to bring balance when you have so many forces at work. Every engineer knows that.
Then you have the order that exists in the universe. We don't come into a very well arranged house and think it just happened. All scientific laws point to order rather than chaos which is expected when things just happen. There must be an intelligence to create and maintain order. When you see a robot, you don't have to wait to meet the manufacturers before you believe they exist, do you? We have never seen an accidental robot, not to talk of a well organized universe as gigantic as ours...
Should I go on?
Now don't forget my challenge to prove evolution while you're on this.

Let me pretend these are pointers... How did u know it was done by a God and not a family I'd gods or aliens or red headed dragons or by a mystical elephant?

Oh sorry, I mistook it for omnipotent.

My basic argument there still stands. That God has unlimited knowledge doesn't mean he causes all things. He created other beings of freewill with their own power. They can use their power either for good or bad.

That I mistook omniscient for omnipotent, is not in anyway an excuse that my beliefs are not factual.

I am the one that made the mistake. Yahweh the God that I am here to prove that he exists is not the one that made that mistake. I am here to prove him not prove myself.

You have not proved that Adam and Eve existed. So you do not get to use an unproven personality as a reliable template to present your assertions.

Besides does it sound reasonable, for a "loving" god who punishes his own creation for being disobedient -while knowing they would disobey him before creating them anyway- to now sacrifice his own son to himself to appease himself?

Why not spare us all the misery and kill Satan right away? In fact what kind of God creates his own enemy?

Ok so according to YOUR own interpretation of the Bible. God is not omnipresent. I would agree with that. As god seems to not not be anywhere at all. It is even more reasonable to say he doesn't exist at all.

You and I both know that something is not everywhere at the same time, does not mean that it doesn't exists. For example, that your bed is inside your room at a particular time, and not in every room of every house in Nigeria does not mean that your bed doesn't exist.

Besides it's glaring that you have a handicapping lack of knowledge of what the Bible actually says. For ever alleging that the Bible said that God is omnipresent is low mark on your knowledge to actually blanket it as a mythological book.

You first have to see what it states before you show your utter lack of ignorance
