Good day everyone, i am new year and i have been reading up since yesterday. Currently on page 8 of this thread. However i have a question, its surprising that a 2.2 graduate will find it difficult to gain admission into a university in canada. My dilemma now is that i intend to do my LL.M

I graduated with a 2.2. Are there any lawyers in the house that can advise on what uni admits a 2.2 graduate for an ll.m program. I have searched schools like university of toronto, mcgill, queens. Pls what are the options available. Or does it mean that a 2.2 graduate of law cannot go for ll.m in canada.?. I'm really confused

I feel you. No one thing is no Canadian university accept 2.2 for any course. So this is no exception for law graduates. Another issue with canadian schools offering llm is that, they are very few offering law generally. They have about 15 or thereabout, which makes the competition tight for limited slot. So other than having a 2.1 you must be very qualified to be offered admission.
Dont bother looking for a low ranking school for llm. Once you dont have 2.1, there is no point
Unless you going for another course of study entirely.

At the same time university is still a no no for masters if you finished with 2.2

Read through the thread i guess to see where you fit

Thank you

I understand that from my research here and the schools i have checked. I have already ticked llm off. What i am looking for now is a good college that offer law related PGD programs

Hi, I came across this post and I have been encouraged to join in so I can get the guidance I need to proceed with mine. I'm at the stage of writing my LOE and gathering all the relevant documents so I can progress with starting my application and I'm pleading with the gurus and poster of this success story to help me with the tips to write an effective LOE.
I have admissions into a college at Ontario to study a PG cert course, resumption is fall 2020. I will be super grateful to everyone who renders an advice.

Cheers!

Hi all.

Pls I need a confirmation on this. The sample of reference letter shows that the letter is to be address to:

The Visa Officer,
The High Commission of Canada,
Visa Section
Lagos.

Pls is this right, should it be Lagos or somewhere in Canada. Pls I need this clarification because I am submitting an online application.

Thanks

The ideal approach is to secure a supervisor well before submitting your application. You have to mention your supervisor in the statement of research/purpose when applying for admission. If you have submitted your application without a confirmed supervisor, your chances of getting admitted is closer to none. So my advice is to start looking for a supervisor now against Winter/summer/fall 2021 entry. You would do well to also spread your risks by applying to other schools and programs that are non-thesis based. Don't be in a rush, it is only a matter of time if you do your part. Best of luck.

Visa Refusal. What Next?

Hello everyone,

I got admission for a Masters programme (my 2nd Masters) last year and applied for my study permit as well as sowp for my husband and visitor visa for my 12 year-old daughter. I was encouraged to apply as a family cos the testimony of a lady here who did so and got approval for her whole family.

Just received mail that we were denied on the grounds of:
- purpose of visit
- family ties in Canada and country of residence
- limited employment prospects in country of residence

Please how can I counter these in my reapplication?

I think the fact you are going for a 2nd masters may be the problem but also your family may have been a great sign of home ties if they didn't apply with you. Those 2 reasons may be the red flags but what do I know; am just trying to reason this out loud. The 3rd point about employ-ability may be related to age of applicants and your job history; you may want to address this too. I will suggest you try for a PhD if you had a good grade in your first master and when you re-apply, to do it alone. All other things can be added in due course, I think.

I am not sure how best to do this but samples from two successful applicants that I have seen simply has it as follows;

The Government of Canada
www.cic.gc.ca

I dont know much about pgd and any other related course to law. I hope someone would be able to help you out on that. I can only advice if you are keen on masters in law, try uk schools. At least they now have the 2 years stay after school now

If you wouldn’t be going for LLM but for law related courses, you should be aware that at least such “related” course should be in line with your current work experience.

Good day all , I submitted my application on 24 Feb , since then I have been getting updates on the phone number that I used from the vfs office. And last week Monday I got a message saying that I should come and pick up the passport from the visa application center. I went there on Thursday and they told me that . My passport wasn't ready.

Please I need help analysing this situation. Does it mean that a decision has been made?

Please I need a reply from the gurus

You need to write a strong SOP justifying why your're applying for a second masters. They are thinking that your're just using it as a route for PR.

You should'nt have applied with your family. Everyone has their luck. That lady was just lucky. Your family is one of using strongest ties to show that you will to your country after studies. Applying with them already shows that youre ready to JAPA.

I dont know the course you applied for but you need to show a clear plan of your career prospect in your home country after studies. Will you want to work , if yes which organisation? or will you be starting your own company?

Address all this and reapply

I got my student visa rejected recently (in January) on family ties in country of residence and in Canada basis and I will like to try again myself or if I can meet an expert to help me with it. Either way, I need the lists of schools that doesn't require payment for admission, or part tuition fee payment upon giving admission.

Am applying for undergraduate course with my Olevel or ND. I need your advice on what to fo yo establish ties as well.
Thanks

hello!!
Please I need clarifications, I got an admission for a post graduate diploma in january but i'm yet to start visa processing, I also have an active express entry profile i recently just opened(about 2 weeks ago) Now my question is can this express entry profile be a problem to me getting my study visa when i apply?
Please i really need clarification..
Qudkom:

Hello, I am glad you're seeking clarifications regarding your study visa process. Stating you want to travel with your child and mother in law totally defeats your main intention to go and study on the part of the visa officer. It show's you're using the study route to immigrate to Canada hence, "Purpose of Visit". The advice I'll give you is apply for a program for let's say January 2021 or May2021, by the grace of God your child will be 1yr old by then. You can then proceed with the study visa and when you get to Canada, your mother in law can apply for a visit visa using your status.

Yes sir. I currently work as an inhouse counsel or company secretary for a pharma coy. So I'm thinking courses on compliance or business Law would be fine
