Foolish idea, is it not a country that has steady power that will be planning to abort the use of generator? |

slimfit1:Oga that's the most stupid of them all, if the FG start working on improving the power sector and we attain stable power supply round the clock, both the use, sells of generators and its importation will die a natural death... This is just simple logic unless one lack sense like the sponsor of such bill |

This is gross misinformation! You have no clue about power sector and the reality on ground in Nigeria. How much do you spend on generators annually from different countries to allude that some nations use your money to develop themselves? You made mention of solar energy as if it is what industrialized nation and developing nations use to spur development. Germany as at today still use coal in power generation, so also US, China and Canada. Do you want to power industries with solar energy? Google all the developed and developing worlds to look at their energy mix. We don't have the resources for cheaper power generation, you are talking of solar energy as a nation trying to develop industrially when US is pulling out of Paris climate change agreement. Please what are the cheaper sources of energy that Nigerians are producing? I will like to know one bros. As I type this, I just finished a meeting with a top person at Ikeja electric on some power issues in Nigeria. I have an experience in the industry not as a power system engineer though, but with what I know, anyone that is talking about ban on generator now is either insane or plain stupid. We have a generating capacity that is under utilized that we are even selling electricity to neighbouring countries just because the TCN owned by the FG 100% has a mere 5000 MW wheeling capacity out of about 13,000 MW we can potentially produce. Please let me know if you are willing to learn so that I can break this down to you as even those in NERC and ministry of power are technically deficient to know the issue with electricity in Nigeria. [quote author=slimfit1 post=87403340]Generator bill is the only sensible one there. To develop we need to take drastic action taken otherwise 10years from now we will be having the same problem. We have a few years before countries stop combustion engine production. European countries will stop producing generators. But the countries producing them don't use it. They are going to use the financial opportunity of these to weak our chances of developing our energy so that we keep depending on them. We can spend money on other sources of energy like solar, there are intelligent Nigerians out there developing better cheap sources of energy we are not supporting. States are supposed to spend money on research and installation of solar in schools and hospitals. We should look at noise pollution and air pollution these generators cause and the health impacts in our lives. FFK has money to fly to UK for care do we all have that NO. My argument might not make sense now but look at the future opportunity. [/quote 1 Like |

Romanoff: And you think they care about your sufferings? Think again! Do you know how many communities and LGA in nigeria that have been without power for years? Has that made the government to sit up as you said? You said you have done your research on power...please extend it to LGAs that have not seen power supply for over 3 years...even their own state government uses generators at their residence! Are you aware that generator purchase for the presidency was part of the 2020 national budget? And you want this same government to sit up? Una never chichumchin! 1 Like |

slimfit1: Is it by banning it without provision first? Banning it will not solve the problem. That man should start a bill that Nigerians should be provided with 24 hours light.. That is the simplest solution. The issue of generator will fix itself as many will pack their generators. I don't know for you, but I've not come across anyone who loves wasting their money on fuel if there is 24 hours light. The countries you're calling, did the people provide 24 hours light for themselve? their f**king government did. Priority misplaced. 2 Likes |

Now, I finally believe that inverted reasoning truly exists. You fail to provide good health care and medicines, and you believe that to improve the health system of the people all you need to do is to ban their use of herbs which people have had to resort? I think some people need a brochure for using their brain. Something like "Thinking made easy", "Key points to using the brain", and "Applying the brain for dummies". I keep getting shocked that human evolution has refused to move humanity beyond inverted reasoning, blaming the victim of a failed system for the ineptitude of their elected officers. slimfit1: |

Nope, the reason we had an alternative is cos our power is crap while growing up, during the time of nepa, power was good atlst steady, the minus is that majority of power is constrated in one transformer alone, i mean, 6-8 street using one transformer, such that when the tramformer spoilt, it became a problem, it got so bad that they started sharing the lights, 2days on, and the next 2 off that and many others reason saw generator to the rescue Romanoff: |
Re: Senators That Sponsored Three Controversial Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 2:50pm On Mar 13, 2020 |
Romanoff:When we have 24hrs light generator importation will phase out. It will die a natural death. Only very essential sectors would need it e.g hospitals, research centres etc. And it will strictly serve as backup . It's true C02 emission is inflicting serious damage to the ozone layer and it's getting extensive as the year goes by. We could start installing charging points for smart cars now so in a few decades we can phase out petrol/diesel powered cars but what light will we use to power it? When we have 24hrs light the possibilities are limitless .You can't say let's ban generator first then we will be forced to fix the light. It won't work we can't even fully diversify our economy because we don't have uninterrupted power supply. So the generator ban wasn't a good idea at all .You can't put the cart before the horse . 1 Like |

Romanoff:We already know why, it will reduce air and noise pollution, no need asking you why. But can a poor man afford the solar panels? Is solar panels efficient in southern Nigeria with heavy rainfall? This are things u need to consider. |
