Let me clear the air once and for all!! Minimum wage was added to the salaries paid. My school's bursary payroll officer said so in clear terms.

Minimum wage has not been added. The increment u saw is what UNN has been deducting from ur salary

Minimum wage appears to have been implemented, tax is not a straight line percentage.

What remains is the arrears of minimum wage and then how to treat deductions such as union dues and staff club.

Some suggest those deductions should be voluntary as membership of such bodies are voluntary but the unions will not like that.

Government can insist before it does such there should be a consent form to be filled by each worker.

Dear esteemed SSANU members, good day. Following the payment of the February salary on the IPPIS platform, we have garnered the following information from the officer assigned to UNIBEN:
a) The salary paid is the expected new minimum wage.
b) Tax, pensions and union dues have been deducted thus what was paid is the net pay.
c) There is a shortfall in the payment of allowances of doctors and nurses (call duty allowance and hazard).
d) Loans, loan recoveries and Xmas savings were not deducted.
Following the above, we advice that members should do the following as it applies to them:
i) Members that have shortfalls (medical doctors, nurses & any other sector) should submit
√ full names
√ grade level
√ any other relevant information.
The needed information should get to the Union on Monday as we shall without delay communicate the Accountant General's office, attention Director IPPIS so that the necessary differential can be paid.
ii) Members on loan should please pay directly into the account earlier posted on our WhatsApp platform. This also applies to those on the Xmas savings.
Please note that we are in touch with our bursary dept. and the IPPIS rep. and will bring all updates to your notice. Members should please inform us of any anomalies and not resort to insults and blame game. We appreciate all for your patience and understanding while we try to serve you better. God bless you.

Today, the bursary unit of our school asked the lecturers to come and see our payment schedule.

We went and were told that the minimum wage was implemented.

Our salary under the new minimum wage included the Peculiar Academic Allowance (PAA).

The following were deducted from the new minimum wage:

Tax, NHS(National housing scheme) deduction, Pension, COEASUU deduction.

So actually the February salary that was paid to the Federal Colleges of Education was paid with the new minimum wage.

We were told that will henceforth be our salary.

So we are not expecting anything different for this month's salary because the minimum wage has already been paid.

Today, we were also given our TI number from IPPIS.

This ends the argument once and for all. Minimum wage has been paid. Don't expect any more increment in your salary. QED.

The only thing remaining is for FG to pay arrears of minimum wage

Today, I attended ASUU Congress in my university. Our leaders briefed us on the outcome of the meeting with Govt.
1) Government have agreed to accept UTAS in principle. ASUU was given 18 months to properly code the UTAS for proper utilization. In the meantime ASUU members will be paid from the old system with new minimum wage.
2) Earned academic allowances will be paid soon. Lecturers were told to compute EAA for 2018 and 2019 which will feature in the 2021 budget and streamlined into monthly salaries
3 ) we were told that technologists have lost their 30k hazard allawee. Our vice chancellor and principal officers lost 50 percent of their pay after they enrolled.

Easier said than done. FG asked ASUU to use a whole 18 months to code UTAS very well and you're rejoicing?

Use your brain brother. Has FG ever honoured any agreement before? Giving ASUU 18 months to code UTAS should have given you enough red flags about FG's true intentions already. FG just want ASUU off her neck for now. When ASUU realizes it and goes on another strike in, let's say 1 year's time, FG will call for another meeting and reach another agreement with them. By that time, Buhari's tenure will elapsed and a new government will start deliberations afresh cheesy.

Wait for your EAA first. That's the first thing that will convince you that FG has and will never be sincere.

I'm not in support of IPPIS either. At least, not anymore

FG asked ASUU for concrete timeline. ASUU proposed 18 months. The 18 months was proposed by ASUU and not FG.
EAA is coming. Even if I have not been paid, I’m happy with the progress made so far.
