Good morning Nairalanders,

This goes to intending couples, who are preparing their wedding this month and next month, how has this COVID-19 affected your preparation?

My traditional wedding and white wedding is 17 and 18th of April 2020, but as it stand now, we would have to suspend it pending the time this diseases would stop.

I was even thinking of doing it on a lowkey, but got the shocking of my life this morning when i got a call from my Reved. Fr. that we would have to put an hold to the wedding has directive has been given to stop all church wedding and mass for now.

Every wedding materials have been bought, just to print programme and wait for the day, before this disease became rampant.

We pray that God would lift great scientist up to find lasting solution to this disease.

Life first. You don't want to raise children in this chaos and madness.

You should be thinking, praying and hoping the whole Covid-19 pandemic doesn't run into months or years.

Pray for your family, friends and the whole world to be back to normal. And for scientists to get a cure and vaccine quick

It's only the living that gets married. Why worry about marriage when there is a killer disease out there? Do you want to raise your kids in an abnormal world? Did you spend over 15million naira to prepare for the wedding? If NO, Oga, go and sit down and wait for the whole Coronavirus saga to be fixed before you talk of marriage.

If Church service cannot hold, why not just go to the court and conclude it there? All you need is a couple of witnesses, right?

You will spend less because there will be no reception.

You can still wed, but don't make it a grand wedding oooo

At least, if na for Catholic and Orthodox Churches, you can do MORNING MASS WEDDING, no reception, just few important persons, and every body will go back home with free hand sanitizer and face mask.

Do this and save the stress, thank me later.

If not for the fact that these pastors, reverends, and priests love to see themselves as authorities, what stops your priest from joining you and your intended in the presence of only parents and siblings?

This could be done in the church still, or in an open space.

A large gathering of so-called faithfuls/believers serves no purpose beyond fanfare.
There are some pastors out there that would wed on low key.

Any Nigerian who is not Buhari's child, not his relative, not his direct employee and not a direct beneficiary from Buhari, praying for Buhari not to contract coronavirus is a hypocrite pretending to like Buhari or scared that if he or she wishes him dead, that death may come for him or her, but the actual wish of majority of Nigerians is for Buhari and all Nigerian politicians ruling Nigeria from the federal to the state level is for them to contract the virus and die.

This is the wish of all Nigerians but their fear and pretence won't let them say their mind angry

I for one love humanity cheesy

Pastors can join them together in the presence of only parents and siblings. It depends on the couple.

The fewer guests the better. So much saves on entertainment and other items means less stress/headaches.

It's the best time for ultra low key ceremonies.

Marriage doesn't necessarily has to be a public stuff it can be done privately People just make it big and lavish because of pride

Leave the greed of pastors out of this.

A thousand and one pastors/churches will be willing and ready to wed people on a low-key.

Intending couples should seize the opportunity and save the funds for better things ahead. Things are changing in Nigeria except our mentality and attitude towards frivolities.

@OP this is the best time to get married. You haven't spent so much on down payment and upfront, just call both families (parents) and do your thing in bride's family house. Go to registry when civil servants resume fully.
