I graduated from a Federal University here in Nigeria with a CGPA of 3.43/5.0 and sadly, that's a 2.2

I have gone to the WES website and have converted my CGPA to 4.0 scale and I got 3.14/4.0

If I convert my last 2 years in the university, I will get 3.40/4.0

I have seen on some university websites that the minimum required CGPA is 3.0

I do not have a Second class upper. Please, is Canada Masters Education for me?

Thank you.

Please, someone should give me a reply please...

What should I do?

Can I get admission for post graduate diploma in Canada and get visa?

Please, help me guys.

Dear Obehi,

I am female and my dad was a co-sponsor.

The additional documents which I added in my second application was:
1. Affidavit of return
2. Letter of explanation- I queried why I was denied the first application that I had proved my intentions to study( I was denied based on purpose of visit in the first application), I was polite oh! I also attached my email correspondence with other universities in other countries to show Canada was not a do or die affair
3. I also attached a Newspaper publication Where one of the universities advertised Programs for 2019/20 but did not include the course at Masters level

I sent you an email.
Though I was gonna ask who was the main sponsor because you didn’t say. You only said your dad was the co-sponsor.

I was also gonna ask if I could get a cut of the section of your LOE how you queried why you were denied the first application.

Kindly respond to the email or here or reach me.

Hello , Most Canadian Universities do categorically state that 1st class or 2.1 is the minimum required Class of Honours to apply for Masters.., a good last two years is important , while 1st class or 2.1 is Importantanta..

I stand to be corrected

Yes, with your CGPA , u can get admission to PGD, just make sure the PGD u are applying for is related or quite related to your Undergraduate Degree or HND, so as to show progression. For instance, if u study Electrical Engineering in ur Undergraduate/HND and u are now going for a PGD in Accounting, that's a red flag. But i heard some people do switch to other courses different from the former degree, and what they do is that they explain in their Statement of Purpose (SOP) how they intend to Correlate their Former Degree ( Elect. Engr) with Accounting (PGD).

You can give colleges in Ontario a shot and check if they have the PGD program u wanna do.
Check the Likes Of Cambrian College, Number College, Algonquin College, Seneca College etc. (All in Ontario) and u can check Colleges in other Provinces as well.

Its 50-50, nobody can assure you of getting a study study visa (whether Masters or PGD), but if you package your documents and application well ,Yes you can.

Stay Blessed

Dear Moderators

Thank you for all that you do. May God bless and reward you.

Please I need your advise, I have received my Original Passport Request letter for my online student application but when I went to the Vfs office here in Abuja Nigeria to submit my passport I was informed that they are no longer collecting passport for now. My questions are:

1) I received the letter on the 19th of March and I have 30days to submit the passport, would the period of passport submission be extended I am supposed to resume school May 4th....

2)Someone advised I send my passport via FedEx to CIC in Ottawa Canada for Stamping. Can I send it?

3)in case the school defers to September because of the travel restrictions caused by covid 19, would my Visa be extended by IRCC to cover the duration of study.

Please I would really appreciate your kind response.

Best Regards

Q1-) Please submit an submit extension application online on IRCC’s website using the webform.

IRCC has stated that it will not refuse applications for non-compliance and it will continue to process applications that are in progress at its case processing centres in Canada and around the world.

Moreover, when it comes time to submit biometrics, applicants will actually have 90 days to complete this step instead of the usual 30 days.

Q2-) Don't dare to send your passport via a courier service for whatsoever reason. Please file for an extension via the IRCC webform.

Q3-) Yes, a visa is a document that gives you entry to and fro of Canada. A visa doesn't determine your stay in Canada. Upon landing after the pandemic Virus, you will be issued a study permit at the point of entry and it will cover for the entire period of your stay in Canada with extra 6 months.

I hope this helps.

It will end in praises.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by penitential(m): 4:22pm On Mar 25, 2020
It’s not about looking for schools bro, it’s about getting a good LOI and securing a supervisor first. If you have a very good and unique research topic and you prepare a very good LOI, you will draw attention of potential supervisors. It’s not about school precisely here bro.

Goodday everyone.

I am confused here as to the best method to use for my sop.

I am about writing my Sop right now, but i would like to know which is better between using subtopics to explain, in details, my points or just paragraphs.

Please which one would be ideal for an excellent Sop?

Whichever way works.... Using subtopics or paragraphs. The most important thing is that your letter conveys to the visa officer your bonafide intent to pursue the program in Canada and return to your country of citizenship. I usually advice first time applicant, to stick to 2-3 pages when drafting their letter. Your letter should be well-detailed, concise and straight to the point.

It will end in praises.

Good day all. Please a question regarding SOP. I read somewhere about the need to include a study plan in your SOP. Please what type of information should be included as part of the study plan?

Don't get it wrong okay!.... Study Plan is the same as the regular Statement of purpose (SOP). Its individual preferences that led to several applicants inter-changing the names so as to suit their needs. Please be properly guided that both letters are same thing and serve same purpose.

Statement of purpose (SOP)
Personal Statement (PS)
Letter of explanation (LOE)
Study plan (SP)
Letter of clarification (LOC)........ All serve the same immigration purpose which is explaining the situation of your application for the visa officer comprehension.

It will end in praises.

What of Finance and Home ties? You don't want to include those? I want to include them in mine.

Thanks. I will also include the finance. I was thinking the home ties will speak for itself. I have a thriving business I run and which I am going to submit the financials for. I am also not applying with any other member of my family. Leaving behind my family and business should count as sufficient home tie. I don’t know how it will look making a direct reference to it in the SOP.

Why not apply to a number of different schools? They all have different requirements. If there is a school that accepts a minimum of 3 as GPA and yours is 3.14 why limit yourself? Apply for the masters it only costs you the application fee. For the school that require 2.1 apply for a PGD.
I was in that situation myself. My GPA was a very strong 2.1, but the course I want to read as masters is not in anyway related to my first degree. So I was afraid they won’t give me admission. I applied to several schools, those that have less stringent qualifications I applied for masters. Those with rigid qualifications I applied for PGd. Eventually I got a masters admission in my desired course.
I know some have received a visa with even post graduate certificate admission, so you can get with a post graduate diploma. but I feel a masters is even better.
