Wow!
This is really a great score.
I really hope you don't waste this score out of preference for one school, only to regret your action tomorrow. Many persons I know are victims of this and still regret the effect(s) till date. I hope you don't be a victim.

I guess you know that admission into medicine these days is becoming as tough as you cannot imagine. As the number of applicants keep increasing with geometric progression every year, the number of medical schools in Nigeria remains constant and the quota for the available ones remains constant with no remarkable increase (if there's any at all).

As far as I know, undergraduate medical education is of very negligible (that's if there's any at all) or no difference at all in Nigerian medical schools. You can make your own enquiries/study and draw your conclusion(s) from there.

To me, the basic things I consider while selecting/suggesting a medical school include a school that:
1) has full accreditation by MDCN;
2) is able to retain the accreditation over time (not losing accreditation over a long period of time is my index for measuring this. It is not a perfect index though; so you can choose yours);
3) does not delay her students unnecessarily (imagine spending 8+ years studying the medicine your classmates in other schools spend 6+ years (with maximum of 7) to study;
4) has produced doctors who have proven their worth in the society.

Every other thing is secondary.

If you confirm you have better or even best chances in Unical than any other school, I think it's better you leave it there.

When you become a doctor, you can choose to go to Harvard Medical School and the like, if you have the money and make it into such schools, for your postgraduate studies.

I need more enlightment on the course physiotherapy. I got 249 in my jamb and I choosed unilag as my aspiring school but I'm scared if I'll be considered to study physiotherapy. I need advice on what I can do just not to forfeit this year admission because this is my 5th times writing jamb. Which is the best school to study physiotherapy?
What are the prospects of physiotherapy in Nigeria.
Thank you.

I don't have much information on Physiotherapy. I guess other distinguished colleagues here can help you with the information you need.

Nevertheless, if none of us has the information you need, then I think you'll need to search for students of Physiotherapy on different platforms.

Suggested Methods:
1) if you're on LinkedIn, type in Physiotherapy in the search bar and filter the result to people and Nigeria, then go through the filtered result to gather profiles that may possibly have the information you need. You can then contact these people for the needed information on Physiotherapy. You can also narrow down the search/filter the result to respective schools. Also do same with "medical rehabilitation".

If you're not on LinkedIn,

2) Create a topic/post, in the Education board of Nairaland, that may attract the people that have the information you need.

3) Google for schools in Nigeria that offer Physiotherapy. Then you can come back to Nairaland to look up for topics/threads created for those schools. Asking your questions in those threads may get you the information you need.

The summary of the whole thing is to do everything you can to source the information you need to make better choices that can boost your chances of being admitted this year.

Don't forget: admission in government-owned universities into medical/health-related courses today in Nigeria is the survival of the fittest.

Goodluck.

No, you'll have to sit for JAMB UTME.
The minimum is a b.sc. degree.

apply Udus
Udus and Unimaid are birds of a feather.
The same criteria applies and there's even a bigger chance that many southwestern applied Udus compared to Unimaid.

Not all Tbose tutorial students are aspiring for MBBS in UI
You're forgetting that there are other big named tutorial centres in Ibadan too with crop of 300+ students too.
In fact I think the competition amongst tutorial centres in Ibadan is "Who can produce students with 300+ in jamb the most". So while Those is gaging like 40 out of her 60+ students on 300+ going for MBBS, there are other students from other tutorials doing the same. Anyone whose not ready for that kind of competition (mentally/ academically etc) should save him/herself the stress and apply elsewhere.

If this is your last shot after failed 5 attempts, please do your homework well. Don't let go of this chance. Beat competition where you have the highest advantage over many not where you are still struggling with lots... See you in med sch soon.

With a jamb score like this all I would do is make enquires on universities that doesn't need post utme to gain admission. Fill the best amongst them then let prayers do the rest. Not many people will have 350 and above to beat this score.
Undergrad MBBS curriculum is almost same in all medical school in Nigeria. ( Any school with steady mbbs Accreditation for 20yrs+, Nigerian-standard Teaching Hospital, Federal/State owned (So as to be cheap), Endless list of Lecturers, and working Facilities ) should top your checklist.
I did not even have up to this score and that was the decision I made.. We thank God it did not end in tears.
But if you're very sure of yourself beyong reasonable doubts. Change to any Nigerian university and replicate how you got this score, you should easily win a slot on merit in any school.

You're right but I don't think one can save oneself from stress when it comes to MBBS.

MBBS is highly competitive in all schools. Think about limited quota where aspirants try to squeeze themselves in. I wonder how life in medical school looks like where we will be under pressure to avoid withdrawal gosh!!

Well, nothing good comes easy. Sacrifice must be made. Those words keep me propelling.

Good evening everyone. My junior sis scored 311 in the just concluded UTME. She initially chose UI as her choice of institution.The thing is, my dad is scared as he doesn't want her score to waste (he's online and has been seeing a lot of mad scores and reading sad stories of previous UI aspirants). He's suggesting she change to a less competitive school. She has O'Level: B2, B2, B3, C4, C6. From kogi.
I need advice on this pls. Thanks

The truth is medicine is competitive everywhere and it is getting more competitive each passing year. It is on a different level in first gen unis like U.I,OAU,UNN,UNILORIN UNILAG,UNIBEN e.t.c. My advice is for her to switch to less competitive uni preferably a state uni or a fed uni in her catchment area which is less competitive.
In all,i wish her the best.

With 311 and this O'level there's quite a big chance she will make it into Udusok. Kogi is part of her well recognised ELD states.
Also if she can do better than 311 in ABU post utme, there is fair chance for her too - I learnt many Kogites are in ABU.
Have you guys consider UniMaid or ATBU? UniMaid is quite strong, I don't know much about ATBU tho.
In the west, I'd primarily suggest LASU. I have forgotten how the screening is calculated but there's no post utme - you can make enquiries about it as only O'level and Utme score is needed. ( since she's not a lagosian, I'll advise her to opt out if her screening aggregate is not in the north of 80%).
OOU is also a good school, one of the top state owned institutions with a good medical school, fees are kinda expensive but admission isn't too competitive.
UniMed, Ondo is also another choice, state owned and expensive too but admission isn't too strict here. I have no idea about this school current accreditation status.
EBSU, ESUT, UNIZIK are my top recommendations if you want to head Southern part of Nigeria.
I won't recommend UNN, UniBen, Delsu, OAU, Unilag, Unijos but if she wants to try any of them, she's good to go but I won't advice my sister to choose any.

She's tried. However, when talking about UI MBBS, the score's kinda low.
If she can't score at least 83 in the post utme, advise her to change to a less competitive sch. The fact that she is from Kogi gives her an 'upper hand' too. If she is ready to give it all it takes, she will definitely make it. Tell her not to become complacent.
Shalom.
