Why cant they politely refer them to where they can be attended to , Nigerians always having poor working attitude. We pray this covid 19 should come down, or else you will see doctors and nurses fleeing from thier patients.

Doctors and nurses in better prepared and equipped climes are dying in their numbers... What does your country have in terms of hazard preparations and remuneration??!

A country where you pay an average healthcare staff 5k as hazard allowance, but dole out millions to senators for clothes alone, yet you want them to lay down their lives, forsaking their families for you??! On what grounds exactly??!...

Shey your labour minister said doctors can leave the country if they choose, that we have more than enough... Why the fuss if few out of the numerous choose not to risk their healths and lives??!...

I wonder why nma even called off our strike sef... This nation is not worth the time and effort tbh!!! Mtchewww!!!
Like I always say a man who will not work because of 5 k hazard allowance even if you pay him 25million hazard allowance he wont do the work. Only in Niggeria will you see a man say pay me before I do the job. Even in the abroad yoy are thirsting for you wont go and tell them to pay you before they employ you. You have to pay to write exams and prove to them that you are worth their time. Even there you are constantly monitored. One fúck up and that's it. You are lucky here they allow ypy get away with murder and mediocricy you are still complaining. Mtcheeew

I am a medic, it affects me, and I took an oath to treat people.

See lassa fever. And HIV. The fact that fewer people die from both illnesses today is because medics... were bold enough to treat them write case reports, and do research into cures, at great risk to their lives....contributing to the knowledge base we have to help them.

As for you, vote out PDP and APC come 2023.....or run for office yourself and make things better.

I'm not running away from any sick patient. I took an oath as a doctor. I'm not going to run.

In the US...they are improvising in the abscence of PPE...because not every hospital there has adequate supplies. I'll do that if that happens.
So u would happily welcome an Ebola patient without PPE? Were in d US are health workers improvising in d absence of PPE. I would like to know .....Please hw long have u been practicing medicine? Were u certified during d Ebola virus period coz i ur statement saying u 'ar not running away' might be true or might not considering the situation u find urself

PS: Like i said, health workers are equipped to a level to take care of HIV, lassa fever, malaria n d rest here n besides those disease u mentioned aren't easily contagious like Corona n Ebola. You contact Ebola broda u will continue diz ur doctor tin in heaven

Italy has 92,472 cases of COVID 19 and about 10000 deaths as at today

Most of the dead are old people, or people with preexisting conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

Lassa is not global, as is Ebola because it mostly strikes rural, isolated communities.

MDR TB is rare...due to better treatment regimens, but back in the 1980's and 90, during the bad horror days of the HIV crisis, people used to die from that thing.
The only global outbreak here is Coronavirus.. Others were local outbreak!!!
None of them is close to Coronavirus!!!

That's like saying people who eat bat in Wuhan are most likely to get infected than vegetarians in Italy. But I know you have read what is happening in Italy. It's just 2 to 3 people it takes. Surely the rich have house boys and driver who do earns for them.

Italy is a special case

1.Several areas of Italy have bilateral agreements with China where Chinese workers come in to do jobs in certain regions...and many of these workers came from affected areas.

2.Also, several Europeans traveled , in the run up to the crisis, to China as tourists, (Euorpeans have more disposable income than Nigerians)and brought back the infection (Recall, most sick people are asymptomatic to begin with)

3.Many foreign tourists often try the local cusine. where they travel (and most Italians are not vegetarians , their diet has a lot of meat in it!)..and that includes China.

4.Most Italians greet by kissing each other on the cheek...nice way of spreading the virus.

5.25% of Italy is made up of over 65year olds. Guess who the virus affects badly..the old, and the very young.(Immune system of an old person is not as good as that of a young chap)

Most of you commenting here don't know what PPE is. If you have attended safety seminar or course you would understand the importance of PPE. The doctors and nurses in Gbagada general hospital don't have that and it is not a place where infectious diseases are treated. If you talk of kidney and heart disease that is what are treated and others. The government and senators of this country have killed this nation's health system. I tell you that there is no single ventilator in this hospital. Those receiving oxygen get it in a very funny way. Go and see for yourself
I perfectly understand PPE. However, I completely disagree with their uncultured behavior. It has nothing to do with PPE but purely negligence and poor attitude to work. As health professionals, they know how covid-19 transmits. If they suspected a corona case, they didn't need to admit, neither do they need to running and madly uttering some useless phrases like we are still in stone age. They had a solemn duty to ensure the suspected cases reached IDH successfully, at least they owe us that. As a general hospital, a call to Yaba on a suspected case especially on foreigners will be answered with all sense of urgency. Instead they choose to run away. Now, where are those people? We keep blaming politicians but the citizens mostly fail at very basic tasks. One of the reasons why we are where we are today.

It seems that the time of worshipping anyone other than black is coming to an end in Nigeria.

Coronavirus may be a blessing in disguise with its top-down approach to infection. It started with those (Aso Rock occupants, legislators, governors, directors) who must act, no more excuses. APC cannot blame PDP on this one. Oga corona is apolitical.

Nobody is asking them to treat a suspected case of corona at Gbagada. As a general hospital, they should simply call Yaba that they have a suspicious case of corona. Believe me, the response would have been rapid. How far is Yaba from Gbagada? The only responsible thing they should have done is to ensure the case reached appropriate center. It not all hospitals in Nigeria or any other place in the world that will treat the virus, however such hospitals have the responsibility to ensure suspected cases reached designated centers. What's it with running and shouting, it is not my portion? If all the hospitals not capable of admitting corona cases run away without ensuring such case reached IDH, how are we going to fight the virus. Let us just agree that their behavior was not professional and move on

Lots of people are still ignorant and uninformed about this virus, worst is the fact that this set of people are proportionally divided in all sectors.

That's how most of you talk stupidly without having the basic information.
Why not first ask if they have PPE in that hospital? I hope you know what PPE is?
Without it, no one has any business attending to a suspected case of Covid-19.
Most general hospitals in Nigeria don't even have hand gloves, let alone PPEs.
Your guys are ignorantly focusing on the health workers who are given nothing to work with, instead of on the government which has failed to equip the hospitals. I feel you bro. It's like saying someone needs a heart surgery and you go to a hospital where are there are no specialists in that field. The hospital will never treat you no matter how close that person is to death.
