You can ask Italian and Spaniard if it's just a malaria. We should just be thankful that God is really helping Nigeria to overcome because many are getting well fast.

If you lock down only after a spike has occurred, then it will be too late. People will just go home and die because they would have already contracted the virus.
PoliteActivist:
Let's ask ourselves a question. If it were, say, USA, that had 305 cases total while 799 people died in Lagos in a single day, will they shut down their economy? The answer of course is NO! Why? Because they have the health facility to face a spike in cases. THEREFORE, Nigeria should direct almost ALL our resources towards upgrading our healthcare facility. We have now all seen what having inadequate health facility is costing us - penny wise , pound foolish.
We should partially open up the country under stringent requirements, direct all our resources towards upgrading healthcare, treat those who succumb, bury those who die, monitor things closely and if we see a spike, go back to lockdown.

And most state governors are already lifting the ban for the holidays, as if the virus would take a holiday break too. It's very sad that the entire populace will be at the receiving end due to lack of synergy between the federal and State governments. These people are just playing with fire.
oga can you prove that when the lockdown is lifted we will die like the Americans and Italian? Do you know what is antibodies and immunity?

Malaria and typhoid also has something that covid19 does not have...treatments.

Many of the people who die from malaria or typhoid do so because they don't get to hospital on time.

One thing about sickness, people are scared of a disease if it has no cure or therapy. That's like saying 'you have no chance at all'.

We believe It is for everyone's good health.
If LOCKDOWN came early in Italy, USA and the other countries severely affected by Coronavirus, it won't be as deadly as this.

Palliative measures is all we ask for, for the poor among Nigerians and those that make their daily bread selling on a daily basis.

We wish the last 2 presidents before our darling Daddy were named Obama and Clinton that left trillions of dollars in America treasury before they left and nothing like looting or theft was heard of.
That is the only way Donald could ever had something to fall back on to be able to share 2 trillion dollars for all Americans in this pandemic period.
But in our darling nation, the last 2 presidents and their cronies looted our national treasury dry and out.
The Excess Crude Account was looted dry.
Foreign reserves drawn down.
Federation Account, emptied.
And the economy was set on an irreversible path to recession.

And they say; don't talk about it.
Focus on the present and the future only.
How we miss Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. He would have said: "I go shout o, I go shout plenty o."
If we don't focus on the past, we are then liable to make the same mistakes.
"Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." (George Santayana).
Truth is bitter.
There was a country!
We will survive this deadly virus.
We will win this war.
We Rise!

This is a second tenure for goodness sake - how well has this govt re funded this accounts.

Tjey are focusing on the past and driving us over the edge of a cliff..

Quite sad.. undecided

The self recovery rate of covid19 is far better than malaria

We all need to do our part, lets learn from other countries, because when the deaths starts rolling in, we will no longer think of hunger or what to eat. This disease may be the one that will reduce the world population by half if we do not take care.

Half world population? Lol. More like 1%:

"One often-heard statistic is the "case-fatality rate," that is, the percentage of people diagnosed with the disease who will die of it. This afternoon that figure stands at 2.5 percent for the U.S. A huge problem is that the magnitude of this figure is significantly inflated because it does not take into account people who are asymptomatic or who suffer and recover at home and thus do not come into contact with the medical surveillance system. What we really need to know is the infection-fatality rate, that is, the percentage of all of the people infected who eventually die of the disease."

It is, but the scary thing about covid is

1.At the moment, we don't know what predisposes people to die or to get severely ill. (Yes, age, preexisting conditions, and so on appear to act as predictors, but there are young and fit people dying, and on the other hand there are people as old as the hills surviving the disease)

2.Even those who recover, appear to have some side effects.

Eventually when this blows over, global multi-center cohort and case control studies would have to be done to find out the answers to both questions.

Covid 19 is treatable and that's why people in dozens had been discharged. It's a global pandemic obviously, but unlike the USA and Europe it's a very different thing here. That was why s governor said he treated it with carrot. Let's fight hunger which is the known enemy and leave the unknown to the CREATOR

Politicians around the world are taking such measures because if someone dies of COVID19 under loosened measures, all it takes is his or her relatives screaming 'The government let my relation die by not taking strict measures'...which can cause enough anger to lose elections...among other things.

The economic crisis too is a threat , but someone dying packs a powerful emotional punch.

As you said, we are between the devil and the deep blue sea.

You think govt will see anybody screaming at the moment.. The focus shoukd be to keep the economy running while people look for ways to stay safe.
