if that happens then march on the streeets is very likely
There are no measures in place to reduce hunger on suffering 9ja masses. This is a possibility.

As value investors we love/embrace one or 2 bad quarters. That's just one of the ways bargains come directly to your feet grin
Contrarian approach. grin

If you see the rate at which they are buying Schweppes Tonic all around the world eh.... You go fear. Because they read it has Quinine. So instead of swallow chloroquine, they drink Schweppes Tonic.

Now I can't make my gin-tonic because there is no tonic. I'm just stuck with my gin. grin

Soon dem go start with Orijin, Stout because e bitter like quinine grin

In all these covid 19 issues, all I just focus on is which company is making the money and you buy their stocks low. Expect extraordinary sales from food processors.

People who go to shelves to buy food don't look at brand names anymore. They grab what they see.

In this business, sense is required.
Know that no expert knows it all. Everyone is gambling at different levels. A lot of self appointed experts however use jargons to make themselves appear knowledgeable.
Only you can work your salvation in this business.

Just 1 week of closure in 9ja and you are saying all these will happen grin grin.

This is my 4th week on lockdown. Yet market dey trade well here.

Definitely an extended lockdown will affect business in Nigeria. But I don't think 9ja will lockdown for 4 weeks. A longer period of lockdown will lead to serious hunger and breakdown on societal security.
If we are lucky for a successful containment after 4 week lockdown ,we should be thankful....

Food, drinks, banks, FMCG, Telecos.

People will drown themselves in beer highness to reduce coro panic.

You must eat and stock up anything. So more sales for the food companies. Same with FMCG that a member mentioned here. You must keep lots of toothpaste, soap, cleaning substances. While others are not making it, these companies will make it.

And above all, you need to be swiping in stores to buy things. So you must spend the one you have in thd bank. Banks are still in business in this time.

For loans in the banks, the banks will only restructure the loans to their customers in they can prove that their businesses were affected by covid 19.

I am only positive about telecoms and banks in Nigeria.
The breweries will feel the impact of forex shortage, reduced sales and contracting margin as what people are consuming now are mostly products from small players who are not listed.
For foods, producers of noodles will benefit greatly and my top pick here is indomie if the company is listed.

Brewery industry is in double distress. It has been suffering since the inception of PMB administration, now Covid19, almost all premium lounges and clubs are shut all over the country. Some brewery plants are temporarily shut without any production plan in April. Q2 2020 will be hellish for this industry. Besides, I am not sure its advisable to invest in this industry until after this administration. If the next will not also be cruel on the industry.

I doubt if any company except Banks wouldrelease good results Q1, We are yet to recover from border closure then Cash crunch and Covid 19 enters the scene..... I would see how the country would come back up and running
It's possible the effect of all these wouldn't even reflect in Q1 but in Q2, that's if the situation persists.
Companies do have a way of generating revenues, especially banks irrespective of economic conditions. Don't be surprised if banks release good Q1 results cos of the highlighted factors self.
People stayed at home and are spending, even more than when they're going out. Banks didn't shut down, they only reduce physical activities. The telecoms biz were/are booming too.
Anyway, we'll see how it goes....

I have been saying it since last week. If you are yet to enter the market. Keep your CASH.

Things will get worst before normalcy returns. NSE is worst as CBN won't inject a penny. This is not FED!

Next earning season is March 2021...tomorrow you see same people shouting, had I known!
Boss are you saying there wouldn't be interim dividends?
I had to edit my post on Wapco not because I withdrew the comment but because I don't want to argue unnecessarily.

Bro, you don't seem to understand what people are stocking up.

Did you hear that companies couldn't cope with the manufacture of condoms? grin grin

Some odd things were out of stocks

People learnt that cologne disinfects the hand against covid 19, dem also buy hot drinks to disinfect the throat grin grin

Brewers may have hedged that risk knowing that they faced one in 2014 to 2016.

If you stay at home, those infected will naturally die off and those who can survive it will develop immunity against it.

Cases are still very few in a Nigeria. If cases remain low like this, it then shows that temperature seems to slow the virus down.

The government understand the situation better than the populace, majority of who think there is no corona in Nigeria.
If we can contain it, good for everyone, if we get to the level of outbreak in the communities, the effect is better imagined than said....God save our dear country.

I feel I should share this for the benefit of new members here who are entirely new to stocks. Please, just relax and stay sane else you will make irrational decisions regarding your investment when you read a few posts here.

Firstly, decide how you intend to invest in the market:

If you're in for long term(the Warren Buffet style), go and read the previous posts of emmanuelewumi
If you're in for short/mid/long term combined, go and read the previous posts of RabbidOracle and onegentleguy.
.
..
...
In conclusion, whatever your strategy is, create time to read the previous posts of the three contributors mentioned above and do some personal due diligence. Come up with a plan, follow it and avoid the noise! Remember, in life, some people make money while some make noise. It's all about choice!
Thanks for this bro. Infact I read the posts back to 2018 sef. Lolz. Chai too much time dey worry me

I have the feeling that Q1 will not be impacted on so much by this event.

It is Q2 that I feel that there could be revenue impact if it extends beyond April.
