I "accidentally" found out I had HIV in 2015... Worst year of my life.. I know you might be thinking that I'm a promiscuous person but I assure you, I'm very far from that... So this is how it all started?

I did my NYSC in my dad's company and finished in late 2014 and I was given a full year to go read a course I didn't even want. So I instead volunteered for Youth In Action Against HIV and poverty in Tanzania. My dad was furious but my mum understood.

It was 6months filled with lessons, tears, experience and a firsthand witness to the sufferings of others... We tended to the poorest of the poor in rural Tanzania.

I later came down to Borno and later North bank area of Benue state, I realized there were a lot of vulnerable people that are hungry and can't afford even cheap medical care thus they die of common malaria.

I didnt stay long in Borno before I started having this feeling of fatigue and blurry vision, I thought it was cuz of the stress that comes with what I do, so I decided to go home. Few days after getting home I started feeling this head splitting headache, I thought it was malaria/typhoid of which a lab test later confirmed.. Out of curiosity, I told the doctor to run a full check up.. Just to be on a safe side.. Which he did..

You should imagine my surprise when he told me I was HIV positive.. Nothing has ever prepared me for that moment.. It was funny how a malaria treatment could turn to an HIV nightmare.. I thought of just ending my life right then.

But i braced myself and took the drugs, I was surprised that it was free in Nigeria sef.

I rushed home and took my girlfriend to run the test and it turned out that she has it too...
We've been taking the drugs for the past 5years now with an high Cd4 count and a low viral load.. The virus is not detectable in our blood stream anymore and we are happily married and our first twin boys are negative.

If you're out there and you've been in my shoes.. Its not the end of your life.. Life just happens and its not entirely your fault.

I don't smoke, drink or live a reckless life or sleep around, like I've been in only one relationship all my life, so its not about your lifestyle.
I don't know if I got it from the idp camps or my girlfriend(she was the only person I was with at that time), we just didn't care, we moved on.

So lovelies, Take your ARV drugs, take fruits, eat well, within 3-6 months you can still have unprotected sex throughout your life with your partner without infecting them or your children.. You can live your life to the fullest and more.

P.s: HIV patients do not look skinny and dried up.. That's just an archaic stereotype...
It is also not a death sentence.

Pls expantiate dis part

My first PPA was an org. that was into the prevention and eradication of HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (Plateau in particular)

At that time, Plateau had the 2nd highest case of the disease behind Benue. My people were not comfortable with it, but I went on.

It kinda gave me a first hand view about the virus and that it wasnt a death sentence.

HIV and AIDS is not a death sentence, you can be negative and get married to someone who is positive, have lots of sex and bear children who are negative.

Yet, prevention is better than cure, we preach total abstinence.

Experience is d best teacher, but it doesnt have to your experience.

You are absolutely right bro, there is a spiritual implications.
But I have witnessed where I disvirgined gals without blood coming out....I saw d hymen with my eyes but my method of doing is unique I think das y most girls didn't when I entered them with less pain and most times no blood.
Plz can someone help and explain the mystery behind this cos I have done it severally especially whenever I used gentle and very soft penetration approach.Though this method takes longer time but I causes far less pain and no blood

What do you mean by " The virus is not detectable in our blood stream anymore ..."

Does it mean that a person can ba a carrier of HIV and still test negative in the lab ?

If a man/woman has sex with a positive person, are there chances he or she might not contact the virus?

rate of infection from clipper is extremely non existent provided your barber sterilizes the teeth of the clipper with fire. no virus in this world can survive exposure to fire.

but it's still good getting a clipper tho.

You are WRONG there. They are Thermophilic viruses that can withstand high temperatures. These microorganism can sometimes withstand temperatures of up to 120*C. Your barber can’t heat his clipper to such high temperature

Don't learn the hard way bro. Go and buy your own clipper
You are so correct. Thermophilic viruses can survive very high temperatures above 120*C. Barbers can only heat between 80-97*C. These viruses can still survive and maintain their virulence.

There is zero chance of getting HIV from a positive person who is undetectable. Zero. No risk at all. The fact is based on solid evidence from scientific research.
The fact has been preached since 2017, and remains a revolutionary part of HIV prevention.

We dated for 8 years before marriage.
So first possibility is that she was fucking around while you were dating. Ie if you are very sure of you sexual habits. Many men have been given deseases by olosho wife's, after all women have more chances of getting infected than men. The fact you dated for 8 years is even worse, 99% of young ladies out there with boy friends are fucking older men. That I assure you off. 2nd, things women share eg hair pins, sewing niddle etc as well as clippers for men could also be responsible.

Usually once pple get tested n it’s positive, they usually refer them to the centers n from there they are tested counseled and enrolled

Okay that's good to know. Maybe there should be greater public awareness on TV, social media, etc. by Ministry of Health about the accessibility of these drugs.

Oga, go and buy clippers. 99% of the time you barb your hair you get cut. With bad barbers, butchered! After all why do you feel pain when metilated spirit is used to disinfect your hair and face? How many saloons actually disinfect the right way?. Imagine baring 40 people and mixing their blood a day then you carry your head there for "haircut".

O yes it was about your life style. You mustn't sleep with all the oloshos in an area to contract it. The fact remains you were involved in sexual promiscuity, illicit sex, with a girl you weren't married to at the time. Maybe your HIV status is your punishment.
Had you waited till you were ready to marry and then tested your fiancée for genotype, blood group, including HIV status you wouldn't have been a carrier right now.

Funny enough some persons will demand the test from their would be boy or girl friend before anything can happen between them. I dont blame the churches too.

Wrong, virus are non living things. They are not alive, and can replicate when in contact with a host, even after passing thru fire.
