Increase testing after the reception of Testing kits donated by UN has resulted to more positive Cases.

However death ratio is still very small compared and discharged cases also higher compared.

Strict lock down should be enforce in Kano because of the culture and religion life style and more tracking of contacts.

Weldone NCDC.

GOD bless Nigeria!!!

Re: COVID-19: 34 New Cases Confirmed. Total Now 407, 128 Discharged, 12 Deaths by AmTruth: 8:42am On Apr 16, 2020
How can you prevent spreading without lock down? the More you allow free movement the faster the spread of the virus.

So lock down is still better and safer as testing would also be speed up only with more testing kit. If you don't have more testing kit it is better you you lock down.

God bless Nigeria!!!
sapientia:

I dont know where they learnt the bolded.

Lockdown without massive testing is counter productive.

A single day of relaxing it as our Governors are doing makes mockery of the earlier lockdown.

Nigerian leaders were never prepared for this kinda stuff hence the confusion.

Why can't NCDC give accurate number of samples tested? So that we have correct perspective on these new cases.

On their website it has remained >5000 for the past one week.

They should have started testing aggressively from the get go.
By not doing that they allowed the disease to continue spreading silently.
Now they will have to test many more cases to contain the virus.
Testing with what?
We've been able to ramp up testing through donations from Jack Ma, China and now UN

SciLab:

Thank you, this is exactly the point I have been hammering. With less test, we'll have this scourge spreading within the population silently and exploding suddenly.

More medical laboratories should be designated as testing or collection centres. Infact private labs should be brought into fold (as long the FG can supply them with Biosafety level 4 PPE equipments and funds) and designated as collection centres where people can go submit samples for onward transfer to a centralized covid-19 testing laboratory.

We can have at least 1 collection centre private lab per local government to gather samples and send to centralized medical molecular labs.

There is no other way.
You sound very brilliant. But look at the guys in that task force. Do they sound like they're thinking critically about things or just going through the motion of being a task force like we have in other countries?

pursuing Lagos
Kano has always wanted to compete with Lagos before now, most especially for population.

Center of Excellence vs Center of Commerce

The northern part of the country has just begun her COVID19 journey.
That's not good o, because if Hausas allow this thing to blow out? hmmm

Are Lagosians not being more foolish?

This mindset about the entire North being a land of barbarians and savages is very nauseating.
Don't be nauseated. The north is a different jungle from the south believe me. People are still congregating for prayers even in open spaces as we speak. Do you really think anywhere in the south could breed terrorism as we have it in the north? The north is as bad as people paint it believe me.

A typical Northerner wakes up in the morning and carries his transistor radio and tunes to either the VOA or the BBC Hausa section.

Most of them are not as ignorant about world happenings as some of you think. It's not that bad.

There are a lot of slums in Lagos as well. Community transmission is a country-wide problem, not only of the North.

We have our problems, yes. But if the so called sophisticated ones had only listened and stayed in Lagos like it was being advised, we wouldn't have been here now.

So of what use was all their education and access to information?

Very funny. Go and ask them who Trump is then. They are not informed. Those who are get bogged down by religious and cultural inclinations to make a difference.
Do you know how many trailers of people I've seen moving northwards from the south? Most of them are mairuwas, bikers, security guards who are running away from the "cursed land". They are the ones inadvertently spreading it in the north.

Judging by your assumption, then we can simply say the rate of discharged cases have also increased significantly.
I'm not assuming anything, im just asking about their usefulness in this country. Why are they here in the first place, The NMA have vowed not to allow them touch any patient. Just 3 days ago, there was a rumor on twitter that one of them had tested positive and the FG had warned all media outlets against reporting it.

I'm not negating the fact that all these may just be unfounded conspiracy theories BUT we cant just throw our fears out into oblivion there is always an atom of truth in every lie, especially in Nigeria where rumors always have truths to them.
