I graduated with a CGPA of 4.26, I'm a soil scientist, I graduated February 2020, my dream is bigger than what salary could offer. Even if I graduated with 5.0 I'll still advice anyone to start a business

Did you say "When I leave school"? cheesy cheesy grin

I graduated years ago and I'm not regretting going to school. You said you HAD passion for Med/Surg, but AT THIS MOMENT, you have passion for money. Bruv, your current passion is a result of your inability to follow your initial passion. Fact!

See as you bend mouth dey talk 5milla, 10milla and 100milla a month. How many Nigerian business men do make such a month as gain?

Stop deceiving yourself with business fantasies, being a successful business man is not easy as you think. Stay woke and stop making unnecessary statements about certificates, when you've not gotten one.
I don't want to cast myself here. But make your findings about how much a music video director earns in a month (You don't need a certificate to become one). You will know that your Professor of Medicine is still learning. School is a scam in Nigeria, except for some developed countries that give education a priority.

Even if u have the orientation about business, have a school certificate, school certificate isn't a waste ( tho if you actually study the "right course" here in Nigeria)... Just like someone said you can secure a job then later include business, federal government work no be scam at least for a start, if you know you know!
It's well

People put too much emphasis and almost all their faith in a degree.

University degree is just like a foundation to greater heights, nothing else.
If u don't want to push wheelbarrow, become a gas attendant or a conductor for a start then get a degree.

Wise people use their degree to secure a Job, save substantial amount then start a business and when the business is big enough to feed them and their family, they resign from their Job.
The money u get from a Job can't make u live, it can only help u survive.
Salary as a whole is like a bribe u take so u can forget ur dreams.

My advice to u is this, get ur certificate, use it to start a life but don't depend on it.

Don't depend only on ur cert in d next 10yrs, have more streams of income
I graduated as a law graduate. But my BL and Certificate of call to bar qualifies me to practice as a lawyer. I carved a niche in corporate practice, which I am currently practicing. So get a degree, carve a niche within your field and also add more hard and soft skills.

Even Nigerians that still go to school are stack illiterate! If not the country wouldn't be as it is now.

This can only come from a school drop out, someone who graduated with pass, someone who studied courses like iceblock Engineering or Nylon technology and someone who wasted his/her time in school without learning anything from his/her field of study.

Certificate get level incase you don't know.

Anyone who graduated with a good and presentable result with lots of knowledge and skills relating his/her course of study will never make this statement, because there's are certificates that will feed a whole kindred for 30+ years.
Nice one. I doubt if he is a graduate.

Well, your salary can make you live comfortably even after retirement. The questions you should ask yourself are: 1. Do you earn enough from your present job or do you need another job? 2. What do you do with your pay? Even as a businessman, you're going to struggle to survive if you don't manage your resources well

dear young people, let no one deceive you. your bsc MSc Ph.D is very useful and valuable no matter your course of study. Nigeria can make you feel useless and worthless and you might struggle but if you ever want to migrate or you meet some other opportunities you would understand. it's better to have a so called useless degree than have someone tell you 'if only you were better qualified'

don't learn the hard way!

I just graduated from UNILAG, no convocation yet or certificate I have started working a 5-figure paying job already. This is because I learnt a lot of skills during my 5years in school but to be honest I wouldn’t have gotten this job if I hadn’t gone to the university. So what’s the moral lesson here? Learn a lot of skills especially the one that isn’t crowded and also get at least a B.Sc. A degree will put you at the right position for opportunities. Right now, I still want to get more degrees.

P.S: I graduated with a 2-2 but my skill is first class.
what skill is that
enlighten me

In fact I got admission sef but didn't do registration not because I don't have the money but I am scared..Looking for a business to start or leave the country. I can't continue doing these type of jobs. God help me.

My BSC gave me the opportunity to work in the most luxurious industry in the world.

Got a 2 year usa visa without spending a dime visiting cities like sines(Portugal),cristobal(panama),manzanillo(mexico),seattle, long beach, oakland(usa) within three months while working.

I would like to advice those youngees to verge into marine courses such as nautical science, marine engineering and sea cast.

Its about time we stop placing ourselves inside a box.

I graduated with a second class upper in accounting. When I graduated 7 years ago, I had big dreams to excel in the profession. But the frustration I experienced in the labour market for those years made me to dump my certificate and embraced online business. Since then, I have never regretted my decision.

I bless God. My certificate is in my wardrobe waiting for the day it will become useful again. That is if that day ever comes....

I accepted the course I studied in school out of desperation. Has to be the greatest mistake I made In life yet.

But I think destiny has a way of design to suit every man's fate.

I don't want to call the certificate a waste of time and scare resources. No knowledge is a waste
I was admitted to study a course I didnt like, with no hope of crossing to another department , I decided to drop out and take the next jamb, and that has been one of the decisions I have ever made in my life, I decided to be ridiculed just to be happy, so I would say maybe you were scared ,or some other things, but cheer up the sky isn't always gloomy and if you strive harder you'll be happy at the end

It's useful because I have been able to get a higher degree with it. I have also earn some peanuts with it.

The job market for first degree holders is really saturated. Things can get better when you acquire a higher degree, it depends on what you choose to do with.

Don't be discouraged, going to school or acquiring a first degree isn't a waste in the world over. You can use your first degree as a stepping stone to more promising engagements.

Now first degree is relevant for the following reasons.
1. You can get a job with it.
2. You can get an intern position and gain necessary experience that can help u in your future career.
3. You can start a business from the knowledge u gained in your first degree.
4.You can network and meet other people with similar degree of interest and start up something with them.
5. You can gain sound insight from your first degree that can enable you become an entrepreneur. School broadens the mind and opens your eyes to certain opportunities that other people may not see whether educated or not educated.

Finally, note the following;
1. Try and learn some handy and relevant skills in addition to your degree. It helps a lot these days.
2. Go for trainings if you can. It can boost your chances of jamming success in your chosen fireld of endeavour.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with towing the path of education if that's what you want. Business is good if u want to do it after your education.

Those comparing education and business arent really making any sense. There is no bone of contention between the two. Both are good.
