In 1998, for me, he was also the best player in that tournament, he was allegedly poisoned and suffered concoction before the final, but there was also Dennis Bergkamp, Zidane and Davor Suker. Zidane won the best player though.

That is one of the best World Cup defences ever. Blanc and Desailly at the end of their peaks, Thuram and Lizarazu at the start of theirs.
Only thing that spoiled it was Blanc missing the final, but Leboeuf stepped in seamlessly.

He is the guy that killed Brazil in 1990 and killed us in 1994. Uche Okechukwu left him to man central defence during a set piece while Cannigia was on the left wing (right part of our box) screaming "Diego, Diego". Maradona quickly passed him the ball and Cannigia hung the ball far post.

Then Benjamin Massing almost cut him in half with one of the most (in)famous tackles in world cup history.
