The NSE index should have a powerful breakout.

Q1 results may likely depress the market. For now, we can only hope things get better but fundamentally, nothing really serious to drive the market.

Have you seen some q1 results coming out they don’t seem too good

Most of the bad q1 we've seen so far are from companies that were struggling even before now...

Africa prudential registrar q1 wasn't that bad at all... I expect the q1 from the blue chips to start rolling in next week...

That might be a better measure of how things go...

If I have to answer to everything in ur post, it would be way too long, so I'll just take on some bit in between.

1st off, the 1st paragraph in ur post is not far from the truth as it highlights the present red flag in CAP.

On point No 1, u may need to do a bit more dig on ur analysis though.
U are assuming that the core investors(not only thermis) were unprepared of the possibility of a lukewarm interest from shareholders on UPDC rights, but probably forgot to note how the coy(UPDCs) current ASSET BASE, relates to the RIGHTS PRICING of N1/share(compare AGPR and NAV to EM)
And do u truly really think the core investors are(or will be) cash hungry over the rights? ...not sure u know them. wink cheesy grin

Hear this; There is a reason why the RECAPITALIZATION exercise preceeded(came before and not after) the RIGHTS ISSUE, and why the RESTRUCTURING will come after the RIGHTS ISSUE.

...a brief;

It's important to note that UPDCs travail was majorly the result of overburdened interest bearing loans. ...which UACN(being the parent coy) had to 'house'.
Some of us forget that;
1) Post rights issue, UPDC will have almost zero debt.(both short and long term) except for a circa N4B+ long term bond.(the rights takes care of this)
2) Post restructuring, UPDC will be allocated an asset with a face value equivalent to its % holding of the NAV of UPDC REITS, as well as other discretionary benefits.
If u understand the 2 points(read btw the lines), then u'll see why the core investors(again, not just thermis) would indeed be well prepared and will gladly take up the rights.

On point No 2 and 3, well, I totally agree with u on the part in bold. I personally think that Portland paints should've been merged with CAP long before now given their similar business niche.
However, if there are any mergers or even divestment, it will be because the parent coy(UACN) is looking to streamline their business segments and focus its strength on areas it believes can drive better margins and not ordinarily just for the sake of needing cash. After all, any cash raised from any such move would still be ploughed back into the business. This was part of the coys roadmap to turnaround and growth.(guidance was always given on that line)

On point No 4, that PFA has been liquidated(sold)
The arm was classified as a disposal segment held for distribution to owners of the parent coy in the 2018 calendar yr.

Finally, yes like u, I also do not expect UACN to pay any dividend for the 2019 calender yr.
The coy is presently at an inflection point to growth, so it makes sense to want to conserve cash for that purpose and more. ...but then again, the BoDs might still decide to pay out something no matter how small.

All said, I still maintain that UACN is a strong BUY even at the current price. ...in fact, accumulate !!
I have done several past analysis, including a breakdown of the accrued benefits(to UACN shareholders) from the unbundling using the SOTP valuation approach and other key metrics here, so not much to say.
It will do u a lot of good to take an in-depth look at UACN' FP in the last 6 quaters and compare all key lines. Dig deep(including the NTS) on all reports leading up to their 2018 YE FP and compare with every trailing quarterly report to date.

I need not tell u why the core investors will proceed to ensure the full success of UPDC rights...
or why the insiders and BoDs have at one point or the other moped up UPDC REITS and especially UACN stocks from the floor.
Their AEP for the latter(UACN) currently stands @ circa N10+.

I recently bought more after selling previous holdings at a premium.
And quite frankly, I'll be more than glad if it drops a little more so we can increase our stake.
Time will put things in their right perspective !!

Selah

Great YE 2019 report from UACN...
Woeful report from UNILEVER...

On the latter, it clearly looks like the decision to engage a solitary...... at the end of H1 2019, following...... is beginning to show its adverse effects.(highlighted it here back then)

On the former, would like @ TLAX to note the post above.
...the content is looking likely to play out.
NOT surprised at the 10k dividend declaration. Any Jack who understands and can relate the thing about 'past and present position' to 'underlying growth' shouldn't have expected more.(actually thought there'll be none)
VALUE in the making !!
We continue to love UACN. ...BUY !!

On UNILEVER, I think that any price rise(possibly aided by current market sentiment) should be seeing as an opportunity for an escape route !!
...unless ur an investor with a long term horizon.

Analysis and details later !!

Starting from next week, I expect a sharp burst of Brent. What other news that will drive this is what I don't know.

Many countries are opening up in addition to those that have gradually opened. Germany, EU powerhouse, have said they will open on Monday.

There is a news of a second possible cut in production by OPEC+.

Brent needs to start trading above 40 first to be on a safe level for take off. Once above 40, it can't fall anymore.

Looking at it from another perspective, US oil inventory is at its all time high. Their storage capacity is at over 70%. same with China.

For Brent to move northward, those reserves have to be consumed for demand to increase again. So even if there is a further cut, it will only be temporary (few days northward movement).

So pending when the oil reserves of China and US is consumed and pending when the further cuts is announced, Brent will likely dip further to say 25 before the surge from May when US will start their phased opening of the country

Thank you sir. Do you have any Idea in what category is Veritas Registrars (difficulty of registration, I live very far from Lagos)? I noticed they cover zenith bank shares.

It is like I will only be keeping selected companies for dividend collection (one or two), since registration can be difficult.

I assume someone can make close to the dividend yield by entering the market somehow near the dividend payment period and exit just before it.
In my experience, Veritas has been the easiest.

Yes, they made some profit in the quarter against a loss in fy19 but you have to note that profit was made in q1 19 before everything disappeared by year end.
Thanks for the clarification.

Greetings everyone,

if you currently have ZENITH shares in your holding, please do well to sell it off between 15.89 (price already touched this level) last week and 16.35 region.

I expect price to sell off and retest the 11.90 support and possibly deeper in the sub- ten level before we can see further buying.

All the best everyone!

Well, I have a lot of share certificate I need to dematerialize, and a lot of unclaimed dividend going as far back as 10 years ago. I'm tired of filling forms and sending by mail or scanned copies. They are never replied.
I bought some shares through Morgan capital and still I can't get my dividend despite filling all the papers and sending them by post since they no longer accept scanned copies.
I can't travel to Lagos just to submit transfer forms or e- dividend forms. What other options do I really have?

@Desanta.I dematerialized my shares by filling out the e-dividend forms (I printed them out them from the Registrar's website), then used courier to mail them out using the tracking service. When the mail was delivered to the respective Registrars, I then called and sent email to them until they got them done. Hope this helps.

I'm thinking that once it breaks 16.90 (stays comfortably at N17), it starts to fly from there. Worst case it stays there (at 17)and consolidates but won't fall lower anymore.

I expect 17 and above this week amigo.

I am just trying to learn TA having followed @bbm and @fxuser on this forum for a year now. I just looked at zenith charts and my impressions;
After a serious gap down in March, it had since formed a strong support at 10.64. From April, however, it has been on an uptrend. This differs from the general downtrend @meshpips showed. The current most likely support, should it fall again, is at 13.48 and 12.62 respectively.
The current uptrend should it continue, should reach a decision point at 16.98 (I suppose that's why @oracle expects price to reach 17.
Now from here, the possibilities are to break the resistance, which if it does, it's likely to have a consolidation around there, with a gradual continuation pattern for the uptrend. The other possibility is 16.98 forms a new resistance, and it reverts to support at 13.48.
What do you think? @meshpips, @oracle, @bbm, @fxuser

Boss, Could you explain why it should fly at 17?
My impressions from the chart is a consolidation or a very gradual uptrend as there are multitudes of strong resistances from 17 to 21.
Moreover this is Zenith we are talking about. Flying no Dey him spirit.
Any technical explanation for your expectation? Would love to know
