davidnazee:Yea i have given three different scholars who faulted the benin-ife connection and of the scholars was so angry with the benins for attempting to rewrite thier history for some gains And this was a foreign scholar who saw there was a catch for such dubious act by the benins to link ife to benin TAO11 and his colleagues hate me for this because am more of the person drawing the attention of noconnection more, tao11 mostly use this anger and vent tantrum on me while he is mentioning me My threads hence forth will be on the validity of ife benin connections I guess the truth weren't available to the populace early because of lack of having acess to materials like the works of ryders and other scholars now internet has made things easier In my first thread with TAO11 i had introduced him to the need to cite works of scholars and the need to do research and use virtual analysis for interpretation and they hated me for it, the only person who could keep up was TAO11, thats why in every of our thread they are always full of scholars citation |

gregyboy:I didn't read this comment of yours because I generally refrain from reading most of your comments. Indeed when I hand over five corrections to someone and he keeps on with the same mistake, I give up on that person because time is precious, life is precious. 1) if you can substantiate your claims of me being a tribalist, I would appreciate. 2) you need to know the meaning of the word myth: you asking me to prove something is a myth goes counter logics. And you must understand how any intelligent mind would be frustrated with such demands. 3) A myth is a story which is not substantiated. So the problem is that you hear a story and have no scrutiny over it, you look not for proof of the story, but when someone comes along and tells you it is a myth (meaning a mere story with no proof) you ask that person to provide proof. So you want me to prove that there is no proof rather than asking those spreading the story to provide proof ? 4) I have explained all these in more details several times in nairaland and I specifically told you and others to look at my posts, even my different monikers ( prolog2 is one of them). I am not s machine with infinite time to waste. Of course I get hangry when some expect me to repeat myself again and again and again. I am a person, not a machine. 5) the one thing which always puzzled me is the fact so many Nigerians don't understand the very concept of myth or history: Look at the oduduwa story for example. When is it supposed to have taken place ? Indeed the first record of Benin empire was in the 14th or 15th century when people who could write visited Benin empire and wrote about it. They met an empire led by the Oba if Benin. Therefor if there were ever any oduduwa, then he would have existed before the 14th or 15th century. And no written text by any person who claims to have seen him exists ! Therefor, won't you ask yourself where the so precised story being being said about him comes from ? These guys are telling a story which supposedly happened several hundred years ago with no eye witness account and they are telling it as if they were there and they saw it. Can you tell me what happened in your wife's room last week when you were not around ? Yet they want to magically tell what happened several hundred years ago with no document written by eyewitnesses ? 6) Benin Empire has actual history, douments written by eyewitnesses which span several hundred years and non of that ever mentioned ife or oduduwa as stated by Samuk or davidnaze. All these I have said several times on nairaland, and they seem so obvious to me that I actually find it hard and physically painful to discuss them any further. I came back just to make this comment and the name ghost1day is to say "ghost back for one day" Good bye. |

The challenge I gave the Binis hours earlier: Provide only one --- just one --- shred of evidence (unanimous contemporary scholarly statements, archaeological results, etc.) to back up any single one of the many clams in your comment above. I challenge you!At this point, sane Nairalanders are not surprised a bit that even after giving the Bini Nairalanders all the needed hours of uninterrupted freedom and liberty to defend their grandoise claims with evidence, all they could ultimately come up with, even after tortuous hours of sweaty search, is the same heap of dog sh!t that have already been rubbed on their faces again again on this same thread. ![]() In the light of this, sane Nairalanders have not even an atom of doubt that, at this moment and going forward, Benin Kingdom must be ashamed of its terrible Nairaland ambassadors who have repeatedly failed to defend it with any truth or evidence whatsoever. Afterall, everyone knows quite well even before now that the idea of defending Benin Kingdom with truth and evidence is as self-contradictory as the idea of a married-bachelor or a square-circle. And every sane Nairalander became reassured! ![]() Cheers! MelesZenawi:I have been reading your comments and have noticed you have a curious mind to learn the truth and not just stories. In the case of this Edo, Itsekiri and probably Urhobo people will form a nation together. Nothing like Edo and Yoruba as one nation. Mind you it's not with land size that determines if a people will be allowed to form a nation. Read about Singapore |

valirex:Just know ekaladeran story initially ended at ughoton uptill today rituals are still been done at ughoton by the oba The stories that says ekaladeran left ughoton to ife were all made up by oba of benin for political reasons After the banishment of ekaladeran he wondered into the forest while he was wondering he came across different villages in benin were he fell inlove with one enogies daughters from a particular village who later begot eweka for him he later left ahead to establish ughoton village were he died some account says he went further north after establishing ughoton or he died before the arrival of the searching chiefs But all we know was ekaladeran story ended at ughoton Yea this is were the politcs began which most yorubas know and thats why they always accuse our oba of forging the ekaladeran stories in the early 60s Oba Akenzua during the period when the edos were in the former western region wanted to be the topmost traditional leader in the western region not just him, was aiming for this position the ooni, alafin and several others, so he cooked up a story of ekaladeran escaping to ife after he left ughoton and so on as the story goes...... But luck ran out of him because he had no political power to establish his plans, awolowo later elevated the ooni The oba and edos were constantly marginalize by the yorubas after his failed plan, he had to pull out of the western region.... But awolowo resisted. it took the grace of god that made it succeed...... Anyway sha follow the other thread |

Yorubas have really wanted history more than we want to rule them...... It just sad that the monarchs wont openly tell us this stories openly it will look so embarrassing to them..... |

I think by now he will be regretting his actions in his grave and should allowed you all to be in Western region and become fully yorubanised...at least by now you all will be full blown Yorubas. |

Osagyefo98:How can any sane Midwesterner or Bendelite or Edo/Delta person hate their own son Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe. A very proud Benin descendant that wrote a whole book to celebrate his Benin ancestral lineage. It's the Igbo that hate Zik for telling the truth in his autobiography. You are just desperately looking for how to start another ethnic tribal war on Nairaland between Benin and Igbo and hopes the Benin lectured you along the way about various Igbo tribes, the way Yorubas were schooled and they finally run away. Hope nobody will have your time. Go and read Zik autobiography and come back and tell us why will any Edo/Delta person hate him. Zik was very much loved and we will continue to love, cherished and see him as one of our own. It's some Igbo people that hate him for his truth. If Zik have any regrets, it will be against ignorant Igbo like yourself who are calling him stupid for writing about his Benin root. If you guys have any issues about what he wrote, you wait until you meet him to confront him and ask him for further explanations, those of you that can't wait, reserve the right to immediately go and meet him wherever he his to confront him and leave Benin out of it. Find yourself a copy of Nnamdi Azikiwe autobiography and history of Onitsha people to read. Below is an extract. Nnamdi Azikiwe: My Genealogy and Nativity "Thus, in tracing my paternal lineage, I could say that both parents of my father are direct descendants of Eze Chima. As for me, I can trace my paternal ancestry in this wise: I am the first son of Chukwuemeka, who was the third child and first son of Azikiwe, who was the second son of Molokwu, who was the third son of Ozomaocha, who was the second son of Inosi Onira, who was the fourth son of Dei, the second son of Eze Chima, the founder of Onitsha." SOURCE - Nnamdi A zikiwe: My Odyssey, Chapter I (Spectrum Books, 1970) "My Genealogy and Nativity" p4 "I can trace my maternal ancestry thus: I am the first son of Nwanonaku Rachel Chinwe Ogbenyeanu (Aghadiuno)Azikiwe, who was third daughter of Aghadiuno Ajie, the fifth son of Onowu Agbani, first daughter of Obi Udokwu, the son who descended from five Kings of Onitsha. Five of these rulers of Onitsha were direct lineal descendants of Eze Chima, who led his warrior adventurers when they left Benin to establish the Onitsha city state in about 1748 AD." SOURCE - Nnamdi Azikiwe: My Odyssey, Chapter I (Spectrum Books, 1970) "My Genealogy and Nativity" p5 "One day I asked her (grandmother) the meaning of the word 'Onitsha'. She explained that it had historical significance. The terminology meant one who despised another. It is a contraction of two words, Onini to despise, and Ncha meaning others. So that the two words when joined together mean one who despises others. Then I asked her why we despised others. She patted me on the back and told me that it was due to our aristocratic background and tradition. I insisted that she should explain to me the basis of this supercilious social attitude. She told me that we despised others because we descended from the Royal House of Benin and so regarded ourselves as the superiors of other tribes who had no royal blood in their veins....." "I continued to belabor my grandmother to tell me more of the history and origins of the Onitsha people. She narrated that many many years ago, there lived at Idu (Benin) a great Oba who had many children. Due to a power struggle regarding the right of precedence among princes of the blood and other altercations, there was a civil war in Benin. One day, the supporters of one of the princes insulted and assaulted Queen Asije, the mother of of the Oba of Benin, who was accused of having trespassed on their farmland. Enraged at this evidence of indiscipline and lawlessness, the Oba ordered his war chief and brother, Gbunwala Asije to apprehend and punish the insurgents. In the attempt to penalise them, Chima, the ultimate founder of the Onitsha city-state, a prince of the blood in his own right, led the recalcitrants against his Uncle, Gbunwala. This intensified the civil war which rent the kingdom of Benin in two and led to the founding of Onitsha Ado N'Idu....... ..." "As the great trek from Benin progressed, some did not have the stout heart of the pioneer-warrior, and decided to settle at different places, known today as Onitsha -Ugbo, Onitsha-Olona, Onitsha-Mili, Obior, Issele Ukwu, Ossomari, Aboh, etc..."
