Option 2 - Lift lockdown
Re: COVID-19: Lockdown Or No Lockdown - Which Side Are You? by KingMicky3286: 3:29pm On Apr 26, 2020
Nigeria cities will look nice with low population and neat people . Sometimes we Nigerians dresses like mad people , it defaces the country . Throwing dirts on the streets also is another mess in Nigeria which we should all try to avoid.
netpro:
With the rampaging pandemic not slowing down and many folks suffering under the pressure of hunger, there is a great debate on whether the lockdown should be lifted.

Option 1:
Maintain the lockdown, provide palliatives and increase testing and medical response.

Option 2:
Lift lockdown within the country, block international flights, enforce face masks, hand washing, use of hand sanitisers, etc. And let us battle it head long till there is a cure.

Which part of the debate are you?
Re: COVID-19: Lockdown Or No Lockdown - Which Side Are You? by emeone: 3:31pm On Apr 26, 2020
Middle..
Let them gradually open the economy..
Testing should be key, and hand gloves and face mask should be enforced, including the president.

Lockdown with adequate palliatives would be a better option because people in this part of the world are either not disciplined enough or too poor to adhere to the safety guidelines.

I once said we locked down to early, we should have waited until 5,000 people died first.

When everyone knows a friend, colleague, neighbor or family member that died, they want enforce anything. They will beg for a lockdown or social distancing.

I wonder who begged Italy and Spain in the end

Dear.

Covid19 mortality rate is very low.
2 out of 100 dies.. Even the death are people with serious health issues.

People will not die of Corona as you are projecting.rather, hunger and lack will kill more than corona.

Again, if you are in one way responsible financially. You won't support lockdown.

They are plenty way which we can adapt better than the western style.

Let's the lockdown end. Somehow you be surprise how we will all survive this Pandemic

Lockdown only if both states and Fg will provide reasonable palliative items not all this audio one.

We need to contain the virus once and for all

But if no sustainable relief materias from government, then expect people to defy order.

Hunger kills faster than Coronavirus

BTW, what is happening in Kano?
our govt is poor...Nigeria no get money...

Obviously our government can't help with palliatives. Heck, they even politicized it.Continuous lockdown will cripple our economy, and it will take years to fully recover. There will also be breakdown of law and order.

Option 2 is our only alternative now..we must live with this thing, brave the odds and hope for the best.

Some parts of the world are lifting lockdown, I believe we should do the same...

Ease the lockdown, Corona virus is not going anywhere, we should learn to live and evolve with it... You can't lock people at home with no food, no light, and no movement... It's a war now and people will learn to adapt...

Ti will do my possible best to keep myself and my brother safe and all around me, but I must have an avenue to earn money to sustain myself if government can't do that... I know not everyone will get palliative, asits impossible, so we should go out and earn a living, while greater emphasis be put on personal hygiene...

The lockdown tire me...

I am for a total Lockdown for another Max for 3 weeks.
The 36 states should lockdown. No movement and security operatives should be punished for receiving bribe in exchange for the passage of human or vehicular movement.
Markets should only open ones a week for the aforementioned lockdown duration and social distancing should be enforced on those market days.
The government should continue to give palliatives to the poorest of the poorest in the society as currently been done.
Those that have been paying taxes but need government's cash assistance can be helped with a token of Max N25,000 while zero taxpayers that desire to be paid palliatives should be made aware that a percentage would be deducted from their future earnings as tax using the same BVN they desire to be paid with.

My summittion, is that we should not compare Nigeria with European countries with excellent Healthcare facilities, we all know that our shambolic health care system can not withstand this pandemic if it enters another level. Americans and European countries even with their excellent healthcare facilities were really overwhelmed by this pandemic. A few more weeks at home will definitely be in our own interest. It is only the living that makes plan or talk about food. #StayHome #StaySafe

Like I said, Nigerians flouted and are still flouting it

If the Government removes the lockdown, nothing spoil

But if(God forbid) bodies begin to litter everywhere, obviously a lockdown will be slammed on us. And by then, nobody will care about the death of the economy

bodies can never litter anywhere from a political covid! never.
if there is covid in nigeria, by now tens of thousands would have died.

For me, I still support the LOCKDOWN for the next one month

Let us sacrifice this little time and see the curve flatten to a reasonable extent.

Nigerians sef are not helping. Stay at home, everyone is screaming hunger (which is true). But isn't it better to feel hunger, than see your loved ones die because of something without cure?

Face masks can be enforced, but it's difficult for Social distancing to be. From markets, to banks, to busstops, to churches, to everywhere....Only walking along Idumota or Obalende sef na wahala

If this lockdown is lifted, na God hand we dey. NCDC are already overburdened despite thelockdown. Imagine when it's lifted

This is a very big risk to be taken on Monday. God will see us through

The curve can't be flatten (hard truth to swallow)- so many indices plays against it. Data which is critical is truly missing.

Testing is in question, health care is non existent.

Na to manage the situation while seeing people turn to statistics. (Hard truth to accept)

Palliatives can not be assured cuz it will be based on the most hit age bracket. Or it can not be sustained because for how long shall palliatives run.

Continual lockdown - you have to fight or mitigate between where the next uprising will come from, what will increase the stress on d non-existing health-care (if na hunger or the virus). Production and business economics failing, paying for infrastructure and it is not been productive.

Relaxed lockdown people go about with the covid19 preventive protocols, more educative awareness, enlightenment and enforcing strict rules within d population.

Locked or relaxed- numbers will increase

They are other better option to face this Pandemic. Lockdown isn't a good option for us here in Nigeria.

The effect of the lockdown will kill more.

Like if this lockdown continue till end of May.
The fed govt is broke and won't be able to pay salary.

Mind you.. 80percent of Nigeria earn in the informal sector..

Let govt lift the lockdown... We will survive Corona.. We are Nigerian

Let it not look like I'm pessimistic.

The same Nigerians screaming for the removal of the lockdown will enforce it on themselves when shiit hits the fan
Let the shit hit the fan. It's better to die to die of covid-19 than to die of hunger. At least we have 97% chance of surviving the virus. But with hunger, you have 0% chance of surviving after 7 days.

so what happens if after 3 weeks and our cases have multiplied 4 times and you have lost your job due to economy crash? the truth is that we as humans will adapt to this covid of a thing once we are able to develop herd immunity.
we can't afford to go into economic depression like in the 1930 era just after the Spanish flu pandemic

I don't see that happening ... the first period of lockdown didnt increase the numbers

The second period of lockdown numbers increased ...

Staying at home brings the virus closer than ever.. cuz truth to be told, we all go to the market, supermarkets, medicine stores to get our essentials... it can be gotten from there and brought in to immediate surroundings

You are comparing Nigeria to Sweden?

Sweden's economy is far better than ours. Their leaders are not as clueless as most of ours. Sweden had a better healthcare than Nigeria. They probably have equipped hospitals and better response to emergencies. They probably have conducted more tests than Nigeria, and are not corrupt. Above all, if they call for a lockdown, their citizens will most probably not flout the order

This is the country you are comparing with Nigeria?

what is all this ' health care u are talking abt' for a disease dat has no cure?....i dont understand?.
