My mom...

Got a call on 16th of May 2019(a day after my birthday)that she fainted(never happened before). I was so scared. Rushed home and met neighbors already trying to help.
Got a car, and was taking her to the hospital when she gave up. Right in my arms, on my laps...

Till this moment, I still don't want to believe she's gone.

This thread makes me reconsider my stance on Faith.

I wanna go back to believing in a beautiful afterlife. I don't care if it doesn't exist, I just need some form of hope to hold on to because staring into the dark empty nothingness of nonexistence drives me crazy; for me and my loved ones.

I'm logging on to the Jehovah's witnesses website. I prefer them because I don't need any scary hell stories.

This is one of the reason I stay far from negativity. You have no idea what negative vibes can do to one's mental state, especially if the receptor is like a sponge that soak things up.

My dad died in 2009 after two years of bouts of intermittent seizures arising from spiritual attack while in a dream state. He did suffer greatly

My old man was humble, not rich by any standard but was contented, would never shy away from expressing his mind when the need arose(I got these attributes from him, I think) and had to pay with his life for not succumbing to cheating in his family. I miss him greatly and I cry each time I remember his sufferings and circumstances surrounding his demise. It's a loss that has stayed glued to me.

My elder brother onyema.
He was everything you could ask for in a brother. We started off as cat and rat. He will steal my money and still beat me on top . He will chase me out of the house when his babe comes visiting. He will insist i do house chores ( even though I was mommy’s pet). He made me sweep the house slowly and carefully to make sure all the edges and sketches were clean. He gave me real trouble.
But he loved me just too much.
After we lost our dad in 2007, he became the father of the house even though I had two other elder brothers who were even older than him.
He worked his socks off to make sure I was comfortable in school. He will cut firewood for sale to give me pocket money.
When my mom travelled to Delta state in 2008, the kitchen was literally his, he made it his job to make sure we were all good.
Everything Onyema did was for us his siblings (especially me).
Then he told me he wanted to Join the Nigerian Army in 2015 to fund my university education after money truncated my previous admissions.
That was how my brother joined the NIGERIAN ARMY and never RETURNED.

There was no kind of prayer I (we) didn’t pray.
It would have even been better if I was the one who died.
His death shattered a lot of things in my family.
We all still believe he is not dead, a person like him cannot die.
There was no information from the ARMY till date.
So we have concluded that maybe one day he will just walk in and say “why is this house dirty?”.
Now my family’s hope and prayers is on me to succeed and lift us out of poverty.

I WILL SUCCEED IN LIFE, I WILL BE RICH
FOR ONYEMA AND FOR MY FAMILY.

IN OUR NEXT WORLD, YOU WILL STILL BE MY BROTHER!!!

My youngest brother, Itoro, in 2002. I think of him everyday. He was very fond of me when he was a baby, always wanting to be in my company. On his last birthday on earth, October 5th, 2002, I sent him a lovely email birthday message that I was proud to have him as my brother and I considered him my friend as well. Three weeks later, he passed on. That birthday message was what I read as part of my tribute to him the following month on his burial. It warmed peoples heart at the funeral.

Also my mum in 1999. She sacrificed a lot for me. And in turn wanted her to reap the fruits of her labor. I purchased my airline ticked in September 1999 to visit her in Nigeria and made the preparation for my journey in the forthcoming months. In the midst of my preparation, I got the devastating news she had passed on right around the time I had bought my airline tickets. I am consoled though she did reap the fruits of her labor even if it may have been brief.

Dad: My hero. He passed on 2 months before my college graduation.

My brother, our first son died last 2 years April, and my mother followed a week later.
She couldn't bear it.

There is nothing more painful than not knowing who, why and what killed your loved one.
He was attacked in the night, stabbed on the chest and stomach and he bled to death.

They found him in the morning, and only his NYSC ID made the police locate me.

Till today, I still dream of the terrible struggle he had before he died. It still hurts me to the bone. My Dad is still traumatized till today..

All this hurt, pain, and sorrow, what’s the point of even being happy?

This thread makes me want to embrace stoicism very hard.

I've read every comment from 1 to 23 and I must confess the pain is deep, I've also had my share of grief.

I lost my aunt in 2001, she had just put to birth and I went to visit her from school, she looked radiant, we spoke at length and when I stood up to leave, she told me to take my studies seriously so that I can make my dad ( her step brother) proud, I promised to do my best and left. The next day on my way to church, someone called me and was condoling with me on her demise. I rejected it and ran to the clinic (not too far from my church,) but was told she bled and past on after I left. She was an angel, a rare gem and I still miss her.

May 18, 2011 my dearest mum died exactly two weeks after I gave birth to my daughter. As I type, I'm in tears because she sowed so much but didn't reap much, she gave birth to 10 children, we didn't Know our elder ones because they left before we came but 8 of us are doing great and dad is strong too but that vacuum can never be filled. Continue resting in the bossom of the Lord, thanks for the sacrifices you made for us to be graduates, I can't forget you or love you less because you are engraved in my heart. Your 9th memorial is in 2 weeks, I've started filling that void, e still dey pain me, I wish you lived longer.

I read through the thread,my heart bleed. My son became 3yrs on his way to 4 when like joke a flash of light seen in his eyes turned out to be a nightmare for the entire family for the next two years. My son suffered cancer of the eyes,he underwent 14 circle of chemotherapy.Even when the eye was enucleated, some particles of the tumour was left behind due to lack of precision equipment during the surgery.what we thought was over,we began another set of journeys in saving his life,by then the tumour had spread to the optic nerve. CANCER is a bastard. My son started radiation again,he had radiotherapy three separate times. At the end he couldn't fight cancer any longer. Somebody help me I am crying profusely over here. Before now,i have read of cancer, but it never occurred to me how deadly it is. Treating CANCER is like a white Elephant project. I thank God for Nairaland and the OP for the previlliege to pour out my heart and to announce to the whole word the thought of Him(my Son) remains indelible. Bishop my son, your daddy is crying, your mum, grannies aunts, uncles and neighbours, even your little siblings won't forget you in a hurry. In this 21 century,it is impossible to forget you, your pictures and videos are all stored in the cloud, flash drives, memory cards even emails. Sorry we can't forget you.Adieu NNwajesu(Bishop).
am so sorry to hear this, sir.my condolences and may God console you.

My wife . She passed on 3 years ago. I have never in my life been with a person so dedicated and committed to me and my cause . She passed away after an unsuccessful surgery . The pain hasn't diminished and the memories are still raw
Till now family be pressuring my arse to remarry but in my mind , who's gonna fill her space?

Most of our women aren't really thinking of the long term and only interested in the immediate things they can smash ,grab and vanish away with.
If you find someone who really loves you. Never let them go away. True Commitment and love are so rare These days it's almost impossible to find
