Note. You can liquidate your T-bills before maturity. You will only be paid interest accrued to the date of liquidation.
I invested in T-bills August last year at 12.3%. Date of maturity was meant to be 3rd quarter of this year. Immediately I got intel about the devaluation from 360 to 380 back in March, I immediately liquidated, managed to get 6% interest in total and still converted my money to USD at 360 before the devaluation came into effect.
Grupo:

Hmm. Are you sure this is the best time to invest in TB?

I invested in February for 182. And by the time the investment matures in August, the capital would have lost enough value.

How much did I gain from such a pointless endeavor? A paltry 57k on an investment of "three point something million."

I know it can be liquidated before the due date. This devaluation happened so quickly. So, liquidating now will be so pointless.

Investment is not one of my biggest areas of strength, you know. That was why we co-opted you to write for us at JarusHub at the time. Thanks

The current realities in the country has made it important for us to take elective courses on the subject.

Do you think that the $3.4b loan from the IMF will have any impact on exchange rate?

Do you think that the $3.4b loan from the IMF will have any impact on exchange rate? Also what are the odds that the CBN will restart interventions or devalue further when the lockdown is lifted?

Economists in the house are in a better position to answer.

I only know that he who go a borrowing, goes a sorrowing especially if the debt is used for consumption and not for production

Thé interest is very discouraging compared to what the capital could have earned you.

You are not left out, I have 5m Naira in TB that will land in my acc tomorrow, the interest earned on that is annoying now, I don't even know what to do with the money maybe do giveaway but only if it will bring me more money angry

Same here 30th maturity date waiting, "give away ke" i wish i know a business thats sure that i can invest in and that can be done alongside my teaching job.

But for now make d money stay my savings account.

The reason why buying dollar at this time is a rip off

The current buy rate for dollar stands at N460/$ while the buy rate for euro is N450/€ (This is economically impossible, euro is stronger than dollar anywhere in the world and has always been, and will always be EXCEPT in the manipulated Nigerian black market), looking at Aboki even though dollar seems to sell at N460 even though with some contacts you can buy dollar at N400/$ but it will not be in your best interest due to ;
1. You may be scammed (you lose all or part of the money).
2. Buying now only enriches the black market hoarder's pockets, take for instance your Naira is already devalued, you use the same devalued Naira to buy dollar at high rate to put the dollar under your pillow while waiting for a huge rise so you can sell and make profit, while you are waiting the CBN starts intervention and rate stabilises at N430/$, you make losses under selling your overpriced dollar, you make loss in unearned interest on your initial Naira for the period the dollar was under your pillow.

Even though dollar is rising uncontrollably it will be at your own loss to buy now, grow your Naira, worse case, use the Naira and buy a domestic property and mitigate your loses.

My advise for people who have enough reserves or currently liquid is to buy enough food and consumables that can last them till end of July or August depending on the fund available to them

Make provision for less privilege families and friends. Before thinking of other money making opportunities.

It will get to a stage where we will have money but no food to buy.

May God help us in Nigeria, this pandemic has disrupted a lot of things and the recession is real
