paking:Well at this point... I dont trust the work that was done on the gear. However, 1. Is the transmission oil well guaged? 2. Can U confirm the electrical aspect of the transmission is in good order? 3. If the above r all good, then d problem might be on the mechanical side |

dear AutoMo Tech my Honda civic 06 drinks fuel like shark in an ocean. worthy to mention is I recently changed the catalyst converter and also bought a new exhaust pot. the mechanic confirmed my 02 sensor in good shape when carrying out the replacement. but the fuel consumption is still very high. the last time I scanned the vehicle I had two codes which had to do with engine coolant temperature circuit low and a faulty transmission. I have had the transmission rebuilt by an expert which has not giving me any cause for worry in the meantime. what could be the possible cause of this high fuel consumption |

AutoMoTech:I remembered my mechanic once mentioned the number 1 fault to me but he didn't say anything else about it. Sir what do you think one can do to correct the fault and the heater sensor code p0031 |

adejide2:Check/test the above-mentioned parts. Check the sensor and its wiring. Ensure they are good. That way we can assume the signal from sensor to PCM is good. Next test the oil control valve. Is it clicking properly when supplied with power and ground? Test the resistance of the solenoid ensure its within manufacturer spec. If not replace. Next you might have to open the valve cover to check the timing. Does it align? Check the timing chain. Is it stretched? Also what oil do you service you engine with? Also not forgetting the heater code is the least of your worries. |

cr8t:To better ascertain this claim sir, we need to know exactly what temperature the engine is at when the needle goes above the halfway mark. You might think it is higher, however it might actually still be within spec. However, have U tried washing or cleaning your condenser? Lets see how the engine responds. |
| Re: REMOTE FAULT ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS GUIDE By AutoMoTech by AutoMoTech(op): 5:24pm On May 01, 2020 |
ciggy000:Have you fixed the engine coolant temperature issue? If not your engine is running in open loop. That is the PCM is not correcting fuel injection, rather it is constantly running in open loop since the PCM does not know if the engine is running at operating temperature or not. Kindly fix the engine coolant temperature issue and lets move from there. But I strongly believe thats the cause of your problem. |

AutoMoTech:No it has not been fixed. I would get that fixed as soon as the lock down is eased then revert back thanks and God bless |

Good evening I have a 2009 accord with fault code P0341 acceleration seems sluggish also vehicle revs loud when you try to accelerate quickly. I gave local Kazeem to look at he says it's kick down sensor but I'm not convinced. Please possible solution. |

SpeedRacer:P0341: CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR A AND CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR INCORRECT PHASE DETECTED. FROM THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR TIMING. IT HAS NOTHING TO WITH KICK DOWN SENSOR OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED. YOU NEED TO CHECK YOUR TIMING 1. TIMING CHAIN. IS IT STRETCHED OR JUMOED TOOTH? 2. INTAKE CAMSHAFT. INSPECT CAREFULLY. IS IT WORN? 3. INTAKE CAM SENSOR AND ITS WIRING. 4. CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND WIRING 5. VTC OIL SOLENOID 6. VTC ACTUATOR 7. FINALLY THE PCM (SINCE IT IS INVOLVED IN VARYING THE TIMING) YOUR PROBLEMS LIES IN ANY ONE OR MORE OF THESE COMPONENTS. |

I changed the Shift solenoid of my Transmission but the car is not shifting after 80Km/h, it just disengages it and starts revving. Then the D light starts blinking and at that stage I get a smooth drive with smooth shifting. Although sometimes i notice I lose power at some point. What could be the issue?? It's a Honda City 2007 Can you recommend a good scanner for my car |
| Re: REMOTE FAULT ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS GUIDE By AutoMoTech by AutoMoTech(op): 2:58pm On May 28, 2020 |
temi4fash:sorry i need to ask some questions for better understanding. a. can you give a brief history of the vehicle pertaining to transmission service etc. b. why did you change the shift solenoid? what informed the decision? did you diagnose the issue? c. when you drive and the transmmission shifts, can you possibly tell how many gears changes? d. finally any capable scanner should be able to read the trouble code stored. pls do endevour to scan and post error codes. so we can further assist. |
| Re: REMOTE FAULT ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS GUIDE By AutoMoTech by temi4fash(m): 3:58pm On May 28, 2020 |
AutoMoTech:Thanks for your response The car was showing error code P1887 and checks by mechanics advised I should change it. Also, I just change the oil and did service in February, 2020 Before now, it's changes it does not shift beyond the 3rd gear sometimes, got better after the service but now it gets up to the 4th and wen it's does not go into the fifth in instead it just disengages. See the Pic of the shift soleiod

temi4fash:So you changed the whole solenoid shey? Did U run scan after the fix? First of all. Your problem is still with the gear system. Might be in the wiring or the mechanical gears. But for a start. Pls scan transmission module if there is one so we know what he computer nis complaining about. |

AutoMoTech:Dear AutoMoTech so I got the Engine coolant temperature circuit 2 issue sorted out. it was a loosed wiring dangling beneath the radiator. got the vehicle re scanned and error code was off. Though the only code coming out this time around is P1659 ETCS control relay malfunction off. please how can I get this sorted out. Thanks |
| Re: REMOTE FAULT ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS GUIDE By AutoMoTech by temi4fash(m): 7:05am On May 29, 2020 |
AutoMoTech:Yes I changed the whole solenoid. After the change I didn't scan it Transmission module as in.. Or I should just scan the car again |
| Re: REMOTE FAULT ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS GUIDE By AutoMoTech by AutoMoTech(op): 9:14am On May 29, 2020 |
ciggy000:thanks for the feedback. there is a relay that is used to control your throttle. check the relay, if faulty fix. you can just swap with a good one, test, clear code and see if the codes goes away or comes back. if its not relay then its probably in the wiring. also i'ld love to ask, after fixing the coolant sensor wiring, have you noticed any difference in fuel consumption? |
| Re: REMOTE FAULT ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS GUIDE By AutoMoTech by AutoMoTech(op): 9:15am On May 29, 2020 |
temi4fash:i mean the transmission computer. kindly scan, lets start with that. |
| Re: REMOTE FAULT ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS GUIDE By AutoMoTech by ciggy000(m): 9:31am On May 29, 2020 |
AutoMoTech:To be honest no much difference in fuel consumption but from related studies I found out that a defective electronic control throttle system could be another reason for the high fuel consumption and that's why I want to get that fixed then evaluate the overall fuel consumption of the ride. |

AutoMoTech:Any idea where that is |
| Re: REMOTE FAULT ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS GUIDE By AutoMoTech by AutoMoTech(op): 2:19pm On May 29, 2020 |
temi4fash:with a scan tool you should be able to connect to the TCM. or better still pls just do a full scan of all the modules not just the engine. my fear is if the transmission is bad and might need to be replaced completely. |
