In my opinion, the Babangida regime brought about the "You chop, I chop" mentality which has taken prevalence today. Everyone don become sharp man. A good name is worth nothing now. It is only if you have money that anyone will listen to you.

With that said, everyone looks at oyinbo as having money. So even if your parent are extremely tribalistic, they will see oyinbo suitor as someone with money and status who will take care of their child (and the extended family) financially. That is why they will soften at the prospect.

Even if a wealthy Alhaji comes to a Catholic or RCCG member's house to marry their daughter, because he has money, they will treat him favorable as against a normal guy that is not wealthy.

The reason I said those statistics are bogus is there is noway they took a survey/count of all the black American families in the whole United States, they never surveyed me so how do they know, I didn't even fill out the census forms this year?
