There is an interstate lock down in the west, so I even if each state relaxes their lockdown, no interstate travel would be allowed.
u don't seem to understand what I am saying, I know there is interstate lock down but don't we still see people moving from one state to another, and the inter state November can't be in place forever, so very soon we will have people moving in large numbers from Lagos to point state, Lagos which has a large number of cases. So asymptomatic people can easily carry it to ogun there by causing another outbreak which defeat the purpose of the lock down at ogun

Strict measures would be better felt if used on public funds looters

The above is not the problem with Wike. I feel it is in times like this, that we need those who can wield and exercise their power. We are in very desperate times and no more than in desperate time are desperate measures needed. In some States, Dangote trucks are used to import the viruses. We must be watchful and pray for a governor like Wike. If we had him as president, he'd stopped the virus from flying in. If the south west had him, they'd shut all the exits from Lagos and probably have lesser cases... Wike is signalling to the powerful and those held high, that the life of his people matter; and it would not be traded as is done in Kano and other states, for the economic benefit of a certain few.
So to demolish buildings is now the solution.

I'm always very scared about the reasoning mentality of Nigerians. How can any sane human being support the threat by Wike to demolish somebody's property because they fell foul of contravening the lockdown 'directive'? May I point out that a directive is not a law. The directive for the lockdown was issued as a result of the outbreak of Covic-19 because there wasn't such a directive in place prior to Covic-19. The reasonable thing to do once the directive was put in place is to specify the punishment that doled out to whoever contravenes the lockdown directive. In any sane society, the punishment will be monetary fines and the amount of the fine will be made known from the onset so that the people that contravenes the directive will know the score. No Governor or President has the power to order the demolition of somebody's property because of the contravention of a directive. This so called directive is not a law and there's no statutory provision in Nigeria's constitution for Covic-19. Wike hasn't got the constitutional power to demolish somebody's property simply because the person contravened the lockdown directive.
The people on Nairaland supporting the threat issued by Wike are suffering from the hangover of abuse of power which was the norm in the era of military dictatorship which unfortunately took place for a very long time in the checkered history of Nigeria.

Well what do you want them do? lock down the whole country because some people sneak in or because the lock down won't be forever?

What is the best solution in your own eyes?

Don't u think lock down in just some selected states is kind of useless, for example ogun state is on lock down but Lagos is not, after the lock down at ogun, people will still move from Lagos to ogun thereby carrying the virus back to ogun. Doesn't that kills the motive of the lock down
Our leaders only reason politically. They can't reason anyother way.

No wonder our country is like this. Majority of de citizens are mo-rons, and our useless leaders know and exploit it.

Demolishing a building that is properly sited is derailing for our infrastructural development.

In my opinion a fine should be imposed on the hotel or the hotel licence should be revoked

The hotel owner will sue Wike and win.

The funny thing is that it's Rivers state money that will be used to rebuild the hotel and pay damages for lost business and psychological devastation

So, Rivers people should speak against this abuse of power on time smiley cool

Wait o...what kind of logic is this sef?

Why not prosecute the operators of the hotel? Why demolish?

So if Presidential Hotel on Aba road opens, you will demolish it?

Very soon all of us will be saying how good Canada and Dubai is, all because everyone obey the Laws of the land no matter ur status but here in Nigeria Laws are for some certain individual. y dint other hotels flout the government order
