but it was during sango's time that ede was established. I think sango was an emperor not mere head of a city state.
Shango was not an emperor. Stop this information which isn't with fact. Do you even know how long he reigned as a middle age man as Oloyo in Oyo kingdom around 12th century ? Ajaka still came and reigned as Oloyo after Ajakuta's( Shango) demise.

The edo have hijacked the history of the Benin empire, trying to ease out everything Yoruba in it when the empire was Yoruba in and out. We must always remind them at every given opportunity that Benin was totally Yoruba.

We wont change history if there is no doubt....

We edos will even be happy to be called yorubas

But we cant be so insensitive and oveelook the loop holes made by eweka the 11,

Just know two things

Edo would be happy to be yorubas if there was no doubt in oba eweka ascertion

2) if ife and benin history was not a matter of debate by both the oba and yoruba people maybe they wont be need of this controversy if all oba of benins had said say yes to oromiyan establishing obaship not ekaladeran finding ife

And yet in all tgis the earliest yoruba writter never said oromiyan founded benin

I am not saying the edo are Yoruba. No they are not, but the Benin palace and empire were Yoruba speaking in the past. The palace was a city on its own, home to over 50 thousand people and all these people were Yoruba in language. Oranmiyan did not found Igodomigodo but renamed it to Ife ubinu. I just want it acknowledged that Benin in all its extent was Yoruba speaking officially and not edo speaking.

Samuel johnson never mentioned Oronmiyan begotten edo monarchy but he instead they were brothers and oromiyan was far way younger than benin who was is older brother ......

If oyo people couldn't tell samuel johnson they established benin monarchy to samuel johson in thier history then the history was all made up.....

Was there any brother relationship btw benin-oyo in the past the only document about benin and oyo was when they clash during yoruba war when edo had to protect the instrest of yoruba vassals state under them

Eweka 11 said what he said for political reasons

If benins couldn't identify oghene location till today who ruled over them in the past but luckily eweka could identify ife the founder of the obaship that was way other than ogene which was told by the edo to Portuguese centuries after establishing establishing the oba monarchy

Nigga think i know you want to take ethnocentric pride, but before you do make sure all doubt are cleared

I can't even take info from a tribe like yoruba who thier first history wss documented in the late 19c

Go and read the book of Samuel Johnson history of yorubas original copy unrevised

Benin, I reiterate, was a Yoruba empire where the Yoruba dialect olukumi was used to conduct empire business. Edo was spoken in the suburbs. The palace and the entire over 50 thousand living there in spoke Yoruba.

From ondo to Lagos, then ekiti to even osun and ibadan you'll see some Benin presence.

So of your king's even have ada vbe eben a staffs meant to show allegiance to Benin kingdom.

The only thing Yoruba have is population and because Benin people were kind not to enforce their language to the territories they conquered.

Hence ondo and Lagos would have been speaking Benin
Hmm, bros but they can enforce the language on urhobo and under thinly edo-related linguistic similarity. undecided

And I heard the Oba at a certain time was ruthless, if he was conquering land here and there, why didn't he force the language on them.

Anyone who conquers, conquers because he wants to change your culture or for economic puporses. For he knows the conquered can become strong tomorrow.i guess the past Oba knew that.

Land grabber ...now that you have succeeded in hallucinating your propaganda all over this thread, what's your gain?

Remember Ilorin is still in the hands of Fulani. Are you not concerned Ilorin was formally a Yoruba land?

Charity begins at home. Claim Ilorin first before you claim Benin

i am not talking of today's Benin city but of the past. Benin empire was Yoruba while today's Benin city is edo. The emir of Ilorin is a Yoruba man of gambari or Hausa descent. I am not a land grabber, I am just setting the record straight.

Stop spreading lies!

Who formed the word "Yoruba" ? Was it not Hausa/Fulani traders?

Before they named you Yoruba, wat were you called?

You were basically just a group of people organized into villages and Hamlet, nothing more .

the word Yoruba was first found in the written work of Ahmed Baba of 15th century Songhai empire, it was used to refer to the people of the oyo empire but nowadays all Yoruba speaking people have accepted the identity.

Ijesa for instance are not oyo and the Ijesa used to call oyo Yoruba as at early 20th century. It was later that all Yoruba accepted the new Yoruba identity.

Well, I am sceptical on your information because of your claims. Oyo has never called Yoruba until the expanse of the Empire. I know Yoruba people's identity even oman! This name is so popular even in middle east.

(1) This poor boy has been serously searching every nook and cranny for his lost king.

He once thought his lost king was in Igala, then he thought Nupe, later he thought Birni-Kebbi, and after that he thought Alaigbo, and now Udo. embarassed

I hope he eventually finds his lost king. cry

Anyways Oba Ewuare2 said he is in Ife. Do you want to watch him say it? cheesy

(2) Who is Ekaladerhan by the way? Is it the fictional character who is absent from all historical writtings prior to 1930?

(3) Because you mentioned "Ogiso", refer to the attachment below.

The first oba of Benin brought Yoruba language, Gods and customs and renamed Igodomigodo as Ife Ibinu corrupted to Benin. Throughout the time Benin was an empire, Yoruba was the language of business, the lingua franca.the army, judges and etc all spoke Yoruba and if you reawake the Benin empire today, they will still have to speak Yoruba again not edo.

Screenshot2 ---> The use of Yoruba language as the lingua-franca of the palace of Benin Kingdom and of the whole Kingdom of Benin itself.

The highlight of screenshot2 are 1600s eyewitness documentations by the Spanish Jesuits, Sandoval, and by the French Father, C0lumbin respectively.

Your screenshot attachment, however, is another bold dirty lie from one of your Fake Benin History Websites. grin cheesy
