I read some comment but I can only conclude that is because they do not know. Every month in the Islamic calendar requires moon sighting and hence a new moon must be seen before the new month begins. If it is not sighted today it will be sighted tomorrow

Wait.. What!

You need the moon to stop fasting?? Didn't know that shocked
What if something happens and the moon doesn't show for the next 7 days undecided
the Islamic month or year is counted by the complete rotation of the moon in a month which is either 29 or 30 days.. hence Muslims follow the lunar calender unlike the Gregorian calendar which is the solar calendar where the sun completes it's cycle in 30 or 31 days in a month.. if Muslims doesn't sight the link on on the 29th or 30th day.. the new month automatically starts after the 30th day..

Masha Allah.
I saw a report last week that the astronomical calculations has shown that the moon will set before Sunday on Friday meaning the sun will set at 6:39pm at 293 degrees while the moon will set at 6:26pm on Friday showing an orbital count of Ramadan 29.and this means the setting of the moon happens 13 minutes before sunset and on Saturday, Ramadan 30, corresponding to May 23, the sun will set at 6:40 p.m. at 239 degrees, and crescent moon will set at 7:23 at 293 degrees, meaning that the crescent will stay on for 43 minutes after sunset at an altitude of 8.84 and elongation of 10.60,” the Saudi Arabian moon sighting scientific observatory said.
