We noticed some rash in our 4 months old baby's sex organ which I perceived is a reaction from her diapers, we took her to the hospital for checkup and they recommended anti fungal cream to be applied and instructed that we don't wear her diapers for now while we apply the cream.

While waiting at the hospital pharmacy I noticed the attendant was taking longer time to attend to me, because the doctor had already written to them what they should give to me with my baby's file in front of the attendant. The attendant still asked how old is the baby I said 4 months. She was just giving excuses that she's coming that I should be patient, so I sat down.

After some time she brought the cream and some drugs. We left and got home very late last night, so my wife suggested my baby should start the drugs by morning but we should apply the cream given to us and we did not wear our baby diaper as instructed.

So this morning my wife decided to read through the leaflet in each of the drugs including the cream. To our greatest surprise the cream was strictly meant for adults and it was categorically stated it should not be used for children under age 18

Now, I'm wondering why would the hospital pharmacy attendant give us such cream. Is it that the prescribed cream wasn't available that was why she was going to and fro like the devil described in the book of Job in the Holy Bible.

Please what's your advise on this matter, is it a careless mistake or it was a deliberate act.

Typical private hospital.
They don't care about your health, just the money.

Please sue so that they don't sacrifice someone else's child on the altar of carelessness. If your wife hadn't taken the time to read the leaflet we will be talking about something else here. May we not see evil o

Do you have money for legal bills should the case become protracted

There's no excuse here.
It's not just a cream. It's wrongful medication.

And they should be held accountable for their negligent action to prevent future deadly errors.

Suing them will save “countless” lives.

This is very bad and careless of them. Shows the nurses donor know their onus or were they just carefree?
Thank God you haven't used the drugs on your baby. This is a lesson to parents, especially nursing mothers, please read drugs instructions very well before administering to your child. Many have died as a result of doctors or nurses mistakes.

Well I dunno much about legal stuffs but will the hospital be guilty because of it?
I mean,it's not like you've used it yet.
I guess you should go to another hospital(government preferably) and treat it.

That was how a pharmacist or attendant or whatever gave me an eye drop after the doctor prescribed an ear drop for me recently. I was almost walking out of the hospital before I discovered. I'm very glad it's something easy to detect. What if its those drugs with complicated names that someone can't easily deduce what it's main function is? That's how she would have complicated matters for me.

Sue that bastardoo. But you may have to establish the damage (injury) caused by the prescription or dispensary of the wrong drug. Otherwise, the suit may just be academic and you get just nominal damage awarded to you.

Please go ahead and sue them. Careless or deliberate that cream could have caused major irreversible damage to your baby. There are very few things Nigerians take seriously on top of that list is losing money, on a normal day most people just go about their business lackadaisically without recourse for the well being, health and safety of others.

If we take legal proceedings (suing people for unacceptable actions), seriously I for one think Nigeria would be a better place. Don’t let it slide, sue!

NB: Remember the man that recently sued Nigerian Customs for trying to charge him custom duty for a personal item and won. Nigerians know what is right but 8 out of 10 choose to act fraudulently (its almost like a culture) and the ones that are affected just let it slide compounding the problem.

You tasted all that was sweet, but you found nothing sweeter than good health. And you tasted all that was bitter, but nothing was more bitter than being in need of good people. And you carried both iron and rocks, but nothing was heavier than debt.

Therefore, you know that life is two days: A day for you and a day against you! So when it is for you, do not be reckless; and when it is against you, be patient. As both will expire!!

O God! You kept us among the living for a reason. Some passed away and some are awake but can't get up, some couldn't even sleep a bit. You know and understand better, O God! Distance us from the disgrace, shame, disappointment of this World and the Hereafter.

Lead us to those acts that will grant us Your mercy. Respond to our prayers, forgive our parents, and grant us good health, have mercy on our souls, defeat our enemies, guide our loved ones and grant us Your Heavenly Paradise. Amen.

Have a blessed Sunday. Continue to stay safe.

Eid Mubarak ♥️
