This article is for those who have asked about how Dangote Refinery will affect or not affect Nigerias forex position in the future. Enjoy reading and Happy eidel fitri.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theafricareport.com/21854/behind-the-hype-is-dangotes-refinery-a-game-changer/amp/
This should be a sponsored article, Obasanjo sold 51% shares of the refineries in Nigeria to a Consortium promoted by Dangote and Otedola around the first quarter of 2007 for $1 billion.

When Yar'Adua took over, fuel importers, foreign owned refineries, Labour etc led by corrupt managers of NNPC led by Funsho Kupolokun started a campaign of calumny which made the newly elected government to cancel the privatisation of the refineries.

Between 2007 and 2020 we have spent more than $1 billion on Turn Around Maintenance of the refineries, yet nothing and none of the refineries is working

If u invest 10m now u will get about 18m in 7 years time if naira is now 520 in 2027 u will get 34000 dollars dollars ....an investment of 25000 dollars now your profit is 9000 dollars over 7 years .......just over 100 dollars profit per months.....if u have any thing that can give u better than 120 dollars on a investment of 25000 dollars is better than the bond...

Anyways my fear is the retail price of PMS when crude prices jump to $60. Dangite refinery cannot serve the country.
in a deregulated market if crude jump to 60 pms jumps to 180 in pump stations and prob 200 in maiduguri ....according to nnpc the markets has been deregulated....if price of limestone increase...cement go rise

You're not getting the picture, the rest of the world are not comfortable with Blacks and that puts us at a serious disadvantage. For instance, if Mark Zukkerbage was a Black man who came up with Facebook, do you think he would have had the same success? There is a glass ceiling against Blacks in the corporate world globally.
How many Blacks are the CEO's or top executives of the Fortune 500 firms? No matter how good Blacks are in certain sectors of the Western world, there are key positions others wouldn't want them occupy even when they deserve it. A Black man will have to do three times more to achieve the same benefit or financial reward relative to a White.

Blacks are taking the path of sports, music and other similar sectors that require physical instantenous results with little or no barriers. Even in football and some other sports, more skillful Blacks are often paid less and ranks lower on the pecking order.

I am not saying we can't or shouldn't strive to do better, but as Blacks, we are at a serious disadvantage in the global arena.
I totally disagree with this, sir. One thing i love about the West is their sense of meritocracy and technocracy. If you work hard, you will definitely make it, irrespective of your skin colour.

Does he have plans of dealing with only the major marketers in the field?
.... make i know weda to start scouting for mushroom stations but in a strategic place
why not if it an approved dpr stations ...this not a govt business...in an interview with Aliko ..he said bill gate asked him.why are there too many stations in Nigeria selling notting (enroute kaduna ) ...there over 12000 stations in Nigeria ...with supply problems ,capital problems ....bring u c/o we value it and give u products

But investing and doing nothing else while you get paid is not the same as doing something before you earn. Also, you can still do something with the income from the bond.

Truth is that, just buying and keeping dollars is also an investment in itself. Cos those who just bought and keep dollars in 2015 would worth more in Naira today than someone that bought bond at 18% in 2015.

Government said it is deregulated and they are still fixing the price. This is quite different from what we have with cement.
We still have a long way to go in the oil and gas sector

It boils down to the unpredictability of the system. Do u remember the short time it took TB to nose dive from over 18% and down to 3. Anything can happen in a short time in Nigeria. The guys making the kill in the stock market in Nigeria presently are the ones that do short term. Checking the market all the time and trading. Some guys buy and sell same stock same day.

Long term Bond are usually favourable to corporates, Pension Fund administrators, Banks and state governments. this is primarily for business continuing from constant liquid.

A friend of mine bought Zenith worth 2M at 11 naira per share on 12th March.

3 days later sold at 13.4. he made almost 430k. About 21%

He bought first bank on a particular day I can't remember with 3.5M and sold next day with about 4.70 and sold at 5.10 next day
That's 40kobo gain. That's over 8% by next day.

Some people use it like forex.

It's a risky method but guys are doing it and cashing out.

For me, I am not in that category. I no need heart attack

I would suggest the ROI be re-invested into T-bills, etc.

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 6:14pm On May 24, 2020
This is possible but you won't make profit if you buy and sell same day. Remember that stocks can only move +(-)10bps(from previous data closing) on each trading day. Also you will have to pay brokerage comm both ways(1.35 %) excluding other statutory charges.

So your stock needs to have moved more than 30bps in positive for you to really make profit.

That is speculation build wealth slowly and steadily with your capital and speculate with your dividends or returns from your investment

Why do you think so?

author=mra123 post=89913204]Thanks for this analysis. However, given the situation we are in, I doubt if naira is not going to fall to above 520 to a dollar by year 2027. Would you please suggest other investment opportunities that would provide higher return compared to the sukuk bond?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by naijaoyibo: 6:43pm On May 24, 2020
The events of 12th March happens rarely. Every once in a few years.
This happens in crypto almost every day. However like PA Emmanuel Elewunmi said,
the surest way to build wealth is one that is slow and steady.

However if you are still young and understand the market to an extent, why not?
Great risks, great rewards.

Why do you think so?
3 reasons:

*Countries are opening up and oil demand is going to increase and therefore, oil price will increase. Also, remember that OPEC+ are cutting production.
*Dangote refinery will not take up to 7 years before it starts operating and hence the pressure on forex will decrease.
*CBN has said they will defend naira and they are going to crack down on speculators. Once CBN starts selling to BDCs, the value of Naira might not be far above the current official rate. Some say a US Dollar will be around 400 Naira.
