Dear INVESTORS in the house please when is the best time to buy and sell stocks in other to make profit and how long can we keep the stock after buying.

please i need everyone's professional advice in this regards

Best time as you have missed the march entry is to wait till October to cherry pick good stocks like zenith, gtb, nestle, access, uba, dangote cement, wapco, mtn at bargain prices ahead of earning season. However, if you are a long term investor, that is you plan to hold for 5years in return for yearly dividend, you can buy any of the ones i have mentioned now.

The shares of CSCS, Friesland Wamco, DUFIL makers of Indomie, Afriland Properties, Niger Delta Exploration, NIPCO plc and some other companies can be bought on NASD.

Tell your stock to open NASD account for you, provided your broker has the licence to trade on NASD stocks.

Oh I see. Thanks for the insight

Julius Berger will be marked down on June 1 2020. We will revisit this. I have not factored the effect of wht in my calculation.

onegentleguy:

No the correct formula I deduced is; Mark down price(Mp)= (Pbm - Dd) X [Pbm[Br/(Br+1)] and not the one u mentioned. ...U should replace the 1st figure "1" in ur post with "Br".
U can see how I deduced the formula from my initial post that was edited.

...and yes I initially did align with @ rebakah' N21 estimate but that's because I made a typo error even though I used the formula above.
So am sorry, but @ rebakah estimate is also wrong.
The correct answer is N20.7 if we assume a N27.2 equity price for JULIUS BERGER before mark down given the N2 dividend and 1 for 5 bonus declaration.
Like I said before; Anyone who sees confusion in the mix can do a check by inputting any figure using the formula.

Pls do well to be guided accordingly.

Ok let me give a fine example...
Let's use a company that declared both a bonus and dividend in the past, since that's what fits in.
For the 2018 calendar year, VITAFOAM declared a 25k dividend and a bonus of 1 for 5.
Qualification date at the time was 15th Feb, 2019 while CDR(closure date of register) was 18-22 of Feb, 2019.
VITAFOAM closed on Friday 15th of Feb, 2019 @ N4.78. ...and opened after mark down on the 18th of Feb, 2019 @ N3.78 (17th & 18th of Feb was a Saturday and Sunday)
So Mark down price was N3.78

Now let's extrapolate with these figures to see if we'll arrive at the same 3.78 mark down price...
Using my formula; Mark down price(Mp)= Pbm- [Pbm[Br/(Br+1) + Dd]
Pbm= N4.78, Dd= 25k and Br= 1/5
And substituting figures, Mp= 4.78- [4.78 [1/5(1/5+1)] + 0.25]= 4.78- [4.78 [1/5(5/6))] + 0.25]= 4.78- [4.78(1/6) + 0.25]= 4.78- [~1.0467]= 4.78-1= N3.78. ...and that was exactly the opening price of VITAFOAM on the mark down date(18th Feb, 2019)

Note how the 1.0467 figure was approximated to 1. Coys can't pay u in "decimal figures". Again, equities are traded in Naira and KOBO and since 0.0467 is less than 1kobo, that 1.0467 figure has to be rounded off to 1.
If u understand the formula, u'll know that its just the price of a stock before mark down/qualification date(the 1st Pbm part) deducted from the summation of the bonus ratio(the Pbm[Br/(Br+1) part) and dividend declared(the Dd part), which gives u Mark down price(Mp)= Pbm- [Pbm[Br/(Br+1) + Dd]
I simply used a combination of logic, variation and basic algebra to derive it.

Friday May 29th is the qualification date for JULIUS BERGER, so I'll do this again using the closing mkt price on that day. (Monday June 1st is the mark down date)
The formula is absolutely correct. Just ensure u note how each symbol are put in the brackets and do ur computation well. ...and dont forget to also respect Mr BODMAS !! wink cheesy grin
Still in doubt?
U can pm me for a side bet of any amount... let me use ur money to take Nkwobi and a bottle of non-acoholic wine. wink cheesy grin

I just went to the official website of NASD. I could see Afrinvest, Investment-One, Greenwich and a few others as brokers. Apparently Morgan Capital is not on the list. You can send them an email to find out.

Welcome back.

Still gladly on my drug of patience.

U mean u haven't sold down(even if its a part of ur holding) since then?
Are u sure u have not been taking "more than the required dose of patience"?
Sometimes u need to sell a stock when it rides up to a great premium above ur entry price and buy back when u see it "persecuted" for no just cause.

While WEMA is a great pick @ the current mkt price, take note to learn from the writings herein.
The KEY is NOT with having the required PATIENCE, but having the RIGHT DOSE OF IT !!

"In the stock market, the BRAVE ONES often "fight and continue to do so", but the SHREWD ONES know when to "fight on" and when to "fight and run away".

~Sinclair

"If ur answer to weather u've experienced more losses than wins in the stock market is YES.
Then FIND OUT if ur answer to weather u've grown with different INSIGHT at different STAGES of ur development is also a YES.
...but before then, ENSURE that that growth was BUILT on the REQUIRED FOUNDATION."

"If u plan well ur VISION, u will often times execute ur MISSION. But in between that planning and execution MUST come KNOWLEDGE, STRATEGY and DISERNMENT.
...otherwise u might well be 'a prisoner of war' to the stock market and the intelligent few in it."

"If u want to KNOW if u can SUCCEED in the stock market, then 1st find out where u fall in between SMART, INTELLIGENT and DISCERNING.

"The market will sometimes present a discerning investor with 'souvenirs'.
...often times, they are even 'bigger gifts' for lesser monies.
The problem however, is with knowing when to indulge it on an exchange.

Do well to note these 6 nuggets. It will help u !!

This is more like it... good one bro !!

I remember advising a colleague to buy into BTC @ $6,370. He refused to buy saying it was a bit too expensive then... but later went back to buy @ above $10,020 without notifying me. Weeks later, he dashed to my office bunk, shivering with fear after it went down to $8,900. I could feel his heatbeat pulsating really fast.
...dude was in sky high panic mode. wink cheesy grin
I had to advise him to take a chill pill and relax because it would still rise back above his entry peg.
...my projection is a near $14,730 price.
The Fed does not want BTC to gain prominence but folks are massively taking position given the immense liquidity brought about by this pandemic. ...people are seeing it as another good store of value.
Technically, the asset recently made a golden cross.

It's a good place to be. But then again, I love them those coys in this ur post !! wink cheesy grin

How does one trade in bitcoins?

Admittedly, I didn't check if there was a next page. That's why my assertion wasn't authoritatively conclusive.

These days, making straightforward statements are quite risky grin

Morgan Capital is on number 61.

After more research and analysis with insiders and external resources on Caverton. Its clear Caverton will take abit of beating this 2020 FY. Large FX liabilities/expenses and lower Revenue expected with oil major slowing down operations. With cash reserve, we don't expect a loss yet.
It will be advisable to watch from the sidelines.

I'm Out!!

Some stockbroking firms that can trade NASD stocks:

Investment One
Morgan capital
CSL stockbrokers

Currently for Investment One, you can't trade on NASD platform as a client like is done on the NSE main stream, and I think it's same with others as well. If you wish to buy NASD stocks like CSCS, Afriland, WAMCO (Peak milk), etc you give instruction through mail and your order will be executed.

Printing money as logical as it may sound comes with grievous economic and financial implications for the government. It simply gives government security bad rating, causes panic, and discourages investors to hold such investment. The other implications that come with QE for such an unproductive and debilitating economy like ours will further send it into comatose and possibly nail it to the coffin.

Certainly. But defaulting will still have the same effect. Even worse when the instrument is denominated in your own currency.
