justwise:

1. That entirely depends on what you want in life..its a personal decision

2. Its not easy to get a job and its not also hard to get one...depends on your experiences, how persistent you go about your job hunt etc.

3. Again this will also be your personal decision, if one recommended a city for you here you may not like it when you get here and start comparing things.

4. No its not hard if you are disciplined else you will spend your salary even before you get paid.

5. That is a millions dollar question..get here first you will answer this one yourself.

6. Yes but one must be on part time basis

Thank you so much

Hello everyone
I spent my lockdown (been working from home) unleashing my carpentry skills and I used scrap wood to make this planter.

Hello house I was just discussing with a friend, she told me that my country is better than UK. She said I should not border to come to UK, that the country is hard. I told her my wife is in UK, she advice I can be visiting her. Please house I need help o for those of you that live in the UK. What are the advantages and disadvantages. Those of you that left Nigeria to UK, is UK better than Nigeria? What were the experience, Am I better off in Nigeria than UK? I am working presently and earning up to 200k, with medical, leave allowance of 200k and 13th month. (Can I get all these benefits in the UK?) My wife also keep complaining that UK is difficult. I am confused. I was just contemplating telling her to come bk and get a health care job . I need advice please my bros and sisters on how you guys were able to make it in the UK. What are the advantages of me staying in the UK. I studied Germany language, what can I start to do to get a good job. How can u guys convince me that UK is better. Thank you

Hello house please i need your advice. I am really down. I have really be thinking the way forward in been with my wife. I have read all your comments, advices and suggestions the last time I posted the above post and other posts. I am really thanksful and very great full. Many thanks all.

I have discussed with my family and a priest and they said I should try going through student visa to join my wife. That is not proper for us to live apart even if I have a good job. My family said that since we have done the Catholic wedding, we can not live separate, that is not good marriage and breaking up Catholic marriage involves lot of process but, I should try student visa and if things are not working properly, I can then decide the process of moving on with my life if my wife is still dragging her feet in joining her.

Last week my family called my wife and told her to come bk Nigeria so that we do registry and she fills my papers for me to join her OR I try to raise money to process student visa and I start up school in that way we can be together. My wife just told me that if I have the money I can do it, that the ball is in my hands. Please house I am confused, should I go ahead and start processing for student visa, and when I get it, then start school and try to see if my wife can agree to fill for me in the UK. I have started making enquiries on student visa. I also believe that studying can help me get a good job and start of my family life.

plan B is that if i get to UK with student visa, and try to make the marriage work and she refuses to agree to fill for me, I have decided to move on with my life in the UK. My question now for plan B is can I get married with student visa in the UK, how does it work? After my student visa expires can I have extension ?

For plan A if things work out well with me and wife is it possible for us to get married with my student visa? Will the process be long and complicated?

Please house I need your advice on both plan A and B I am always greatful for your wonderful advice, espicially those of you that take out y time to comment.God bless. Many thanks.

It’s confusing that she’s your “wife” and there’s no wedding certificate to show for it.
For starters, legally she isn’t your wife.

Best advise, assume she’s your ex-gf and move on. Stay in Nigeria, don’t expend costs on a student Visa with uncertainties.

Both plans include getting married and switching from a Tier 4 Visa to Family Visa. Yes, you can do that. Read more here https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa.

Hi fellow Nairalanders,

i'm in my final year at unical, i would really love to work and further my studies in the UK, but i have a few questions:

1. Is it worth it to leave Nigeria to work and live in UK?
2. How easy is it to get a job? (I'm in the medical field, radiography to be exact)
3. Which city is the cheapest buh best city to start? What is the cost of living(rent)?
4. Is it really hard to save money in UK?
5. How much can i survive on for a month?
6. Can i work while going to school?

i just want to know if it would be a good decision to make, and to know what i would face whent i get there...the advantages and disadvantages.
Advice on the way of life in UK would also be appreciated.

i'm waiting for a response, thank you in advance.

Hi,
In my opinion, you can come with a student visa and test the waters. Just ensure the course is worth it and the school is near where she is based.
On the issue of marriage, it is illegal in the UK to marry more than one wife at a time so you will have to divorce your current wife before you marry another. Divorce is expensive and could be long drawn out except if it is amicable. If I am the woman, I could, for fun, drag it out a little until your visa expires grin
If you get married to a UK citizen, the process of getting a visa is still not easy or straight forward. If you are coming for a masters (which is usually 1 year), what time do you have to settle down, reach a conclusion about your relationship, start a new relationship while working on your divorce and and then planning for a wedding (assuming the lady is ready to marry that fast) all within 15 months? It doesn't look realistic to me.
Plan A seems good but I do not think you need to get married again(I am not sure if you are allowed to marry on a student visa). Get here, start schooling and working to support your spouse and then she can file for you. Please come with extra money because you will not be able to survive on 20hrs per week work.

All the best.

Forget about that German language and find a traing school in nigeria that teaches cyber security or information technology and see if it something that would interest you . ANybody can learn anything you put your mind too. if you like it then do a masters within that IT space ........... that training in nigeria will give you a headsup into the program

Then come and do a masters with IT , meet her and it has to be one day at a time. if it doesnt work at least you done a masters in an area that has some job opportunity and you rebuild your life from there . if it works out then great .... you rebuild

Why does she need to come back to Nigeria for registry wedding since you wedded in a Catholic Church? I thought catholic marriage certificates are recognised.

I feel this is the best advice for your current state...plus the catholic church wedding comes with a registry certificate, so you should not need any additional marriage proof or registry wedding

Ogas and Madams I hail oh

I wanted some information and tips regarding buying a home in the UK,

What are the mistakes I should avoid?

Is rent to buy and shared ownership as good as it looks??

Housing association, chain properties etc. Please any information is appreciated

Location: What happens if a job comes and one has to move

My main reason for considering a mortgage is I am tired of paying rent.

Thank you in advance.
