Yes you can travel with your wife if you can afford it, basically you need to have your school fees, maintenance money and that of your wife(some posts here have stated these figures)

Yes your wife can work full time while you study, actually it's a good thing because it will take off some of the financial burdens from you.
Thanks @Justwise, I appreciate!

Hello guys,

I am relatively new here.

I am going for MSc Ship and offshore structures (an Engineering course)in the UK. What are my chances of getting a job in the UK after graduation.
Also, I have never left the shores of Nigeria. So, I don't have a travel history. Will this count against me during visa application?
Thanks.

All jobs are equal.... no economy can run without all jobs. The jobs that were classified as non essential, has shown the stopping of such jobs will push an economy to deep recession

Everybody is at risk of Covid, even going to supermarket. UK just been greedy and doing double taxation like they do for inheritance tax

When I came to this country , there was no NHS surcharge , your NI was sufficient. At the time the NHS was able to run itself and was even paying better fee in salaries and can continue to sustain itself

It just exploitation on migrants that has made them put a fee and call it a name. Same Government talked of austerity one minute and change the language the next. Things are said to suit whatever narrative is been sold

Really?
Do all non-NHS immigrants work from the "comfort of their homes" and even if they are white-collar does that mean they should be subject to triple taxation?

To put things into perspective, all those seeking a post-study visa will have to pay the Home Office 1,250 pounds up front for each year of the visa, in addition to the application fee, which will most likely not be less than the Tier 4 fee of 348 pounds..

If you luckily get a Tier 2 -worthy job after studying, Tier 2 migrants pay the IHS for 3 years upfront, in addition to application fees of 700 pounds per person. So a Tier 2 applicant will pay almost 4,000 pounds in fees for their 3 year visa. An applicant who is married with a child for instance, will pay 700 x 3 + 624 x 3 x 3, which is about 12,000 pounds in fees.

Such exorbitant fees are not fair for ANYONE to pay.

Where did you see info that Post study visa is £1250

You couldn't have said it better.

They are just using we immigrants to take care of their people.

It is not their fault sha. Even in COVID, immigrants and students ineligible for furlough are not even given any benefit. Most people are not furloughed.

Hello everyone.

Thanks to all those who've contributed in this platform. I've learnt a lot.

Please i want to find out if anyone has admission with the University of Strathclyde?

What's the quality of education, student life and jobs.

Your response will be appreciated.
Thanks!

I got admission, MSc Biomedical Engineering

Strathclyde is highly known for Engineering and its business school. The electronics/electrical department is one of the best if not the best in the UK.

And from what I've read so far, the experience is great. I'm planning on doing two masters, once I'm done with Biomedical Engineering, I'll opt for another in manufacturing by God's Grace

Please I need advice. I am applying for a student visa for September Start and I want to apply very early. Please if I apply in July for the Standard package, does anyone have an idea when my passport will be ready for collection. A friend is saying that within 15 working days my passport will be ready for collection. Is this true?

Your friend is right but it doesn't happen like that in all cases, it could stretch beyond that in some cases especially if the application isn't straightforward. No one knows what the realistic timescales will be when VACs/UKVI starts accepting applications due to several reasons.

Thank you but under normal circumstances, if I apply in July, is there a possibility under normal circumstances that I will get my passport in August?

Under normal circumstances, yes. But it's not always the case. Just make sure that you don't need your passport shortly after submitting your application incase the normal timescales are exceeded.

You will need to have sole custody of your child to be able to travel, so either one was never married to the child's father or he had no presence in the child's life and the mother has always had sole custody, or she was divorced and was granted custody or the father is deceased.

But please is it possible for a couple to travel without the kids, with the intention of coming to pick them later.

Just thinking...

Of course.
You can list only a spouse/partner as a dependant if you like.
It's only when children are listed as dependants that both parents are required to be present together.

Wouldnt this affect the process of bringing kids in later. Since they weren't declared...

Make sure all your dependants are listed on the form to avoid any issues later.

There's a part of the form that will ask if your kids are travelling with you or not.

If by "declaring" the children, you mean stating that one has children on one's application form, whether or not the applicant intends to travel with them, that is a given and must be done.

I really don't know how the situation you described might play out, but here's what I know about someone who did it.

She was a lady who was divorced and had 2 daughters, who left them behind here when she went to the UK for a PhD, intending them to live with her sister's family for a while (they were I think 9 and 11 or 12 at the time). That didn't work out (she told me her brother-in-law took in other relations, complicating the situation), so she moved them to their father (ex-husband). That didn't work out too (usual blame the new wife), so after about a year and a half, she arranged herself (her ex contributed financially), got them visas and took them over.

P.S. Note that there's an Immigration Bill currently before the Commons, and with the Tories' unhealthy fixation on immigration, anything can change at any time.

Isn't this the ideal thing to do?

Plus what kind of immigration bill will prevent the main applicant on deciding who to travel with grin

It will and you should not make that mistake, declare all your kids whether you are traveling with them or not.

Put all their names and make a note in the form that you will not be going with them at the moment but that they will join you at a later date.
