This questions rings true for me.Throughout my life, I have always desired to settle for nothing less than God's best. In regard to a mate, you must know yourself, know God's model, and know the type of person you long to marry. Take a critical inventory of yourself. Ask yourself " What type of person would complement you ?

Steps to take includes:
1. Understanding the importance of resting on others
2. Praying for guidance
3. You must be available, this may seem overly simplistic, but if the guy can never contact you, it makes starting a relationship amazingly more difficult.
4. Continue to serve in the capacities the Lord has called you.
5. The parents must approve of the Union. Regardless of whether or not parents ate believers , they still know your personality the best. Trust your parents.


Lists of what men/ women wants in a Relationship.

1. Sweet spirit ( gentle, nurturing, comforting, caring)
2. Wonderful Mother / Husband
3. A good communicator
4. Someone who loves to be held and will still allow the man/woman to provide
5. As little emotional and physical baggage as possible.
6. Smiles often
7. Someone who can spur you on
8. Someone who embraces and encourages your passion.

Incompatibility destroys many marriages does he /she meets my requirements.

Make your parents see the reasons you chose her /him. It helps at times. Once you stand by your words your parents will agree on the long run. Most parents wants the happiness of their children.

True.But I've also witnessed a case where a lady was forced to marry someone chosen by her parents because the suitor is richer and more affluent than the person she loves.Today the lady is married with kids,but not happily,all thanks to her self centered parents

The problem with most parents is that the get easily carried away when they meet rich people. Probably they threatened to disown her or cut her from the inheritance. One thing is that you should take your stand. Am sure she's regretting now.

Same belief as mine. I believe there is nothing like the right person. One could fall in love with a thousand persons who possess same desired attribute it characteristics.

What we do as individuals is to pick one out of this many. The success or failure of this union depends on the two people involved.

I don't know what term I can classify this school of thought but I came to notice it during my sojourn of looking for admission all around Nigeria that there is no best school except the one that admitted you in and your success depends on your input while holding other factors constant.

Maybe I will create a thread on this and my findings sometime.

But I am sorry to say that most ladies today marry for financial security than any of what you listed above.

This puts a lot of guys under pressure and is also a major reason why many marriages crumble like a pack of cards.

You're very correct. Most men are afraid of marrying because of the stories about how marriages are breaking and Most ladies don't want to suffer with their partners rather they want rich guys who will foot their bills.
